Fuji FinePix S8100fd has a large zoom ratio.
No filter available to protect lens, poor optical viewfinder.
HORRIBLE NOISE in skies, even at low iso settings and with plenty of available light. I'm sorry I bought this. Going back to film.

I Use Duracell's 2650 Mah Rechargables. I Take A
I use Duracell's 2650 mAh rechargables. I take an average of 800 photos a day. I don't have to switch out batteries during the day. Big Plus in my book.
I shoot 99% in Auto mode, use the zoom and turn it on/off about 50 times, and don't have to worry about a thing.
This Fuji FinePix S8100fd is the best point and shoot cam for someone that just wants sharp colors, great contrast, and a wide enough lense to capture it all. I photo houses and damage. This is the best Point and Shoot cam, with the best results I have ever used. It takes professional looking photos, but is light weight and fully automatic, or fully manual if you should choose.
Also, I hardly ever have to use the flash, it works so well in low light (dark garages) and auto adjusts the photos contrast for me.

Had a Fuji finepix S7000 which gave excellent results in all conditions and modes. Loved the camera but it suddenly died after 4 years and needed to be replaced unfortunately.
After the fiaco with s8100fd I have ordered a Canon G10 And hope to resume my hobby as soon as possible!

Excellent flash photography, great zoom lens, large variety of ISO settings, two macro settings.
Received as an office gift award--really happy with the camera and would recommend it to anyone. Easy to use and I like the fact that the camera beeps when the subject is in focus.

I've Had The Fuji Finepix S8100fd For Only A Few D
I've had the Fuji FinePix S8100fd for only a few days and have taken some wonderful shots and I'm no photographer but they come out very well (and in focus which is unheard of for me as I have rather shaky hands!). The 18 x superzoom is fantastic and opens up a whole new avenue to photography - I'm used to having to move very close to the subject and this is not often that easy, especially with animals and small children! The electronic viewfinder is a bonus as this makes the end result far better - in as much as you're no longer taking photos at waist height and therefore shooting at the wrong angle and also, it means that you can steady the camera a little more against your body, reducing camera shake even more. It also saves battery life of course! This beauty means I've had to shelve my Finepix F50fd as it just doesn't offer as many features as this one and oh, that zoom is fab! I've not really had a chance to play with all the ISO/shutter settings etc... yet but will let you know how I get on when I do and I may even post some of my masterpieces (!) on the web!
I would definitely recommend this camera - even to novices like me! I have no knowledge of photography at all really but this is a great way to learn if you want to get into it. I'd definitely recommend buying it but would NOT recommend the case that Fuji provides for the camera as it doesn't give you enough room to store the camera strap in a separate compartment so it doeesn't scratch the screen - perhaps I'm just being too fussy though! For the price, I'd definitely recommend buying it and most of the reviews on the web are very positive!

Fuji Finepix S8100fd Review - Only Had Camera For
Fuji FinePix S8100fd review - Only had camera for a week so still playing with it, but my impression of it so far is- it is a good quality camera with plenty of settings, its not to expensive.
It seems to be the ideal camera for someone who needs more than a compact can offer, but cannot be bothered with the hassle of carrying a slr with a assortment of lenses, obviously a slr would give a better end result , but so far the pictures that have been taken with it have far exceeded my expectations.
