Have Been A Customer Of Greenbee/john Lewis Insura
Have been a customer of Greenbee/John Lewis insurance for many years and was more than happy with their cover and annual premiums. Never made a claim in 42 years with other insurers including Greenbee, but this year JLI have introduced a "£250 excess for Escape of Water"! Following a telephone conversation they claim its due to heavy claims last winter for water damage! What about those of us who took precautions and did not have water leaks to claim for? Why did they not 'load' individual claimants' premiums? That is what happens with car insurance! Such action would make the negligent householder more careful in cold weather! I strongly object to this Excess (common to one or two other companies by now so it seems) and 'am seriously considering moving my custom to another reputable insurer - NFU Mutual. I would not recommend this John Lewis Insurance at present even though their publicity material suggests that they are "With you when it matters".... in the case of 'Escape of Water' they do not seem as if they wish to be "With you....."!

Decided To Give Greenbee A Go, As My Partner Works
Decided to give Greenbee a go, as my partner works for John Lewis and is eligible for a staff discount.
Their quote for home contents easily beat my renewal and also included emergency home assistance to. They also bettered my buildings cover renewal and I'm currently looking at switching my car insurance as well.
Although you might obtain a cheaper quote via the comparison websites, I doubt if any would be able to match the level of customer service afforded by them, which is important to me.
