“Dog poop”

★★★☆☆

written by usEdwards157 on 27/07/2022

I love this place. Alas there was quite a bit of dog poop on the grass near the sea front. This morning there is dog poop on the outskirts of the children's park, which one of my grand children has come into contact with! This is the responsibility of the dog owner to clean up, but it's not going to be done now. Dogs should be kept on leads or extended leads outside of their own accommodation.

“do not buy a caravan on this site”

★☆☆☆☆

written by philcooke63 on 07/01/2017

We purchased a caravan in October 2015 we were promised deep cleans repairs all to be done before we took over the caravan it didnt happen. Then 1 month before season started we were sent a very long list of repairs that had to be done before we could let the van out on thier easy let scheme. The letter that came didnt even have our name on it just to the owners of pitch 85. We complained to the management including the general manager they did agree to do the repairs free of charge after a lot of haggling. But it took months for them to do promising this and that eventually they were complete in the June of 2016. The easy let system was rubbish you couldnt go on to thier web site to see what bookings they had for you also you couldnt go into your account to see how much money was in there from the lets you only had a statement at the end of the season in October. Everytime we went to stay there we always spent most of the time cleaning the caravan this was supposed to have been done by them also stuff would go missing that we put in like extra coat hangers in wardrobes for guests these were taken out by them classed as health and safety risk plus mats on bathroom floor same reason never got them back. the final straw came when we took our grandchildren for August Bank holiday only to find it had been double booked by them but so say that couldnt happen but it did we ended up going back home as the site was fully booked. So after that we decided to sell the caravan we advertised it on various sites and asked them to sell it as well. In the end we asked them to sell to a dealer which they did for £4500 by the time we had money for the lets added to that we had to take a loan out to cover the rest of the money to pay back to the loan company. I made about 40 phone calls to them in the final days to make sure that the money had been paid to the loan company to clear the debt they did not return my calls at any given time it was always me ringing them to find out in the end i phone head office to sort it out myself. so if your thinking of buying a caravan from Carmarthen bay Kidwelly DONT

“Disgusting Accommodation, don't go”

★☆☆☆☆

written by WarrenAnderson130 on 26/08/2016

Arrived later in the evening to bungalow accomadation to find the floor covered in stains cat hair and thick dirt. There were dead slugs in the bathroom, live slugs in the bedrooms. Dirt over every surface, drawers and wardrobes in each bedroom. Dining table was filthy and the place mats on the dining table had mould growing all over them and in between them. We had to spend a night there without it being cleaned because the reception was shut. It took three phone calls and three visits in the morning to resolve the issue therefore wasting our first day. Even when the cleaning staff arrived I was basically given cleaning equipment to do it myself. I have complained since coming home, and neither hoseasons or the park have replied to the issue. Can't even be bothered starting on the park its facilities or the food they serve. Just don't bother going, they don't care, they just want your money. It is disgusting.

“Outstanding Time at Carmarthen Bay Holiday Park Kidwelly”

★★★★★

written by conker32 on 21/05/2013

The reception Team were very informative and welcoming. The Caravan was clean and our beds were made up by our arrival which was great. The scenery is spectacular and the wildfowl are varied. We like the great outdoors and We had lots planned during our stay between the 13th and the 17th of May 2013. The aircraft displays in the morning were outstanding and the walks along the estuary were very stimulating. St. Ishmael's parish church was really worth going to see with swallows nesting in the entrance porch and stained glass windows. Ferryside was outstanding and the museum outside Carmarthen on the A40 was impressive. I would recommend this park if you are looking for peace and tranquility. The Staff are superb, very helpful and accommodating. Even when we checked out, there was a lovely smile and gratitude for us staying at the site. We didn't do all the things we planned we ran out of time. Would go to Carmarthen Holiday Park.

we have stayed at this park a number of times over the last 14 years. however during our last visit there August 2010, we were very disappointed the park has gone down hill. Our silver chalet was dirty there was mould in the bathroom and there was a smell of damp, staff did arrive to clean it after two visits and phonecalls to reception. there was dog mess around the park, which i had never seen there before. Park Resorts need to invest in this camp not just give the clubhouse a coat of paint. The swimming pool needs a complete makeover, its advertised as heated, but was freezeing cold. we will not be returning to this park again, Haven are far better, and have stayed at a number of their camps with no problems.

Just had 3 nights in Carmarthen Bay in a Silver chalet. Was supposed to be in a Bronze but the beds and bedding were damp, the 3pc suite dirty and there was mould on the skirting boards so was "upgraded" to a silver. This was a little better but not much -the bathroom was dirty and again there was mould in it. The bar area was dirty and tatty and glasses were not cleared, nor tables wiped, all night. The fast food was awful. We wouldn't stay here again if we were paid. One plus point though, the staff were very friendly.

e only live 12 miles from Carmarthen Bay Park so knew the site fairly well. It is quite small, oldish and could do with a bit of TLC - but it is right on the beach - not much good for swimming in the sea thou, but you can sea fish there. Our Chalet was the Gold one, roomy, clean - not A1 but was near the end of season so some items hard to get realy sparkling.. Food in Bar area - good value and 'clean' . Acts in the Show Bar could be better and it would be nice if more fun and games for the 'tinies'.
Railway runs along side of the camp and Planes can be noisy - BUT great if you love to sit and watch them flying - grandson age 20 months spent ages waving to the pilots and thought the planes were great.
Soft play area is one of the best for upto about age 6 - would be better if they had a bigger one for over 7's as older children could enjoy themselves more.
WOULD WE STAY AGAIN - DEF: YES
It is NOT Butlins and will never be, if you want the top acts, lots to do then do not come here.
Good value 7/10

“I have just returned from a break at carmarthen bay...”

★★★★★

written by on 08/10/2010

I have just returned from a break at carmarthen bay holiday park and was very suprised to read all the negative reviews! We had a brilliant time with our children (who loved sparky and the krew!) We had a gold chalet which was lovely and we were lucky enough to get a lovely view of the estuary from our patio door!

All of the staff were very polite and happy - even busting out a few dancing moves from behind the bar and reception, we checked in very quickly and were given our chalet early which was a great start, the pool was a nice temperature and the children enjoyed their dip. The food in the restaurant and the take away was good value for money and very tasty! The entertainments team seem to be missing a few members but worked extra hard to make sure all the children enjoyed.

I think that some of these reviewers need to remember that they are staing in a british holiday park - not disneyland!!

Thank you Carmarthen Bay - we will be back!!!

“We spent a week at Camarthen Bay from 14 August and...”

★★★☆☆

written by on 28/08/2010

We spent a week at Camarthen Bay from 14 August and had a great holiday. We had been fearing the worst having read some awful reviews following booking. However our Gold caravan was ready on arrival at 2.00 pm, clean and comfortable and perhaps in a better location being the quieter end near the entrance to the park. We had a lovely view across the estuary. We found the changing area of the pool to be clean on the two occasions we used it and the kids enjoyed the flume - I would agree however that the pool is now in need of modernisation as it is obviously quite old. We did not feel that the evening entertainment for the children was as good as the shows that we have previously seen at a Haven holiday park for example. Generally the park, bar and entertainment areas appeared to be clean and in similar condition to some of the smaller Haven holiday parks where we have stayed previously. We did experience some noise from the nearby railway track but this did not affect our enjoyment of the holiday. Nearby Kidwelly Castle, Pembrey Country Park, Cefn Sidan Beach, Pendine Sands and Tenby are all well worth a visit. We feel Carmarthen Bay is a great base for visiting this lovely part of Wales but maybe not for spending a lot of time on site.

Ohhh I really wish I'd read these reviews before I took my family.
We stayed in a caravan (8 Berth Bronze). After arriving early we were so pleased when we finally got our key. We opened the door to find it hadn't been cleaned! The cleaners arrived and within 10 minutes apparently it was ready for our occupation. So glad we took our own dettol and rubber gloves! We headed off to the pool and was absolutely disgusted to find green mould on its surrounding walls and the pool itself was very disappointing in size. My children had decided to partake in some of the onsite activities only to find that when we arrived they had either been cancelled for that day or these activities weren't running any longer!! The entertainmant team kept the children entertained in the early evenings but could only apologise continiously apologise for the loss of a colleague who would be replaced soon so therefore the usual late evening entertainment was unable to run. I dont feel I need to go on! and I certainly wont be having a return visit!

written by on 23/08/2010

Went to this camp 10yrs ago and returned this weekend. The caravan was clean but not spotless, we had no frying pan and the largest saucepan was only big enough to cook pasta for 2 (caravan 8 Berth!!!). Site has not been changed or doesn't appear to have had a revamp since we last went. Pool area was filthy and probably unhygenic. Didn't eat at Restaurant but tables and floor in that area looked very dirty. Feel sorry for any1 using this site as their main holiday base but ok for short weekend. Would not return!!!!

written by on 19/08/2010

Just got back from our Holiday in Camarthen Bay and stayed in a chalet that needed pulling down. It stunk and was in need of (I feel) modenisation. The Furniture was falling apart, the floors in the bathroom and kitchen where all sticky, no matter how much I cleaned them they seemed worse. The cutlery was not complete, and my sons bedding had blood stains on and mine had cigarette burns. On a good pointer, I cannot complain about the park itself... now that was clean and the staff friendly. Entertainment great. Sadly the accommodation let the stars down.

written by on 15/08/2010

Park resorts Camarthern Bay is a caravan park set in a beautiful backdrop, mountains, vast beach, cliffs, hills and forest. My family and i stayed their 07/08/10 for 1 week and enjoyed many country wallks and enjoyed trips to Ffos las horse racing circuit, the show caves and Kidwelly castle. The park itself was clean and tidy but the facilities i.e the swimming pool and amusement area needs ripping out and starting again. The pool was grotty and too small with inadequate showers. The amusement and bar areas are in mjor need of a revamp. And the on site shop is a bit of a joke! However we did have a lovely caravan which was very clean and the staff were very helpful when we requested extra linen. If you don't use the faclities very much this park would probably suit very weel.

i really wish i had read the reviews before booking a gold chalet at this resort. it was DISCUSTING, FILTY, DAMP AND JUST VILE! their was wood lice crawling all over the floor, the muck on the floor was about an inch thick in the corners of the room, the shower tiles were all scummy, we spent the first day of our 'holiday' with a few bottles of bleach cleaning the place down the best we could! we only put up with staying the week as we had traveled 5 hours to get their and we didnt want to dissapoint our 3 children, i was really happy when the 'holiday' had finished and it was time to go home.

“I've just returned from a holiday at Carmarthen Bay...”

★★★★☆

written by on 12/07/2010

I've just returned from a holiday at Carmarthen Bay and really enjoyed it. My four children thought it was the best holiday ever and we have previously visited Disneyland Paris.

We stayed in a bronze caravan which was very clean and right next to the play area. The staff were all friendly, polite and helpful The food was great and reasonably priced. The pool was also very good. We didn't experience the kids club or entertainment as we spent most of our time off the park and there is a large Morrisons store a few miles away so you can easily stock up on essentials.

The beach is nice but isn't the best and you definitely need a car to explore the surrounding areas. All the views are stunning though! Especially the view looking over the estuary and the castle as you drive through Kidwelly town.

I agree, that I wouldn't want to stay in a chalet. They look rather grotty. Overall, i'd recommend it as there's plenty to do for all ages including younger children.

NIGHTMARE!!! just returned from camarthen bay holiday park, stayed for 4 nights in a bronze caravan,we new it would be a standerd caravan but expected it 2 b clean.
we had broken furniture, the pull out bed was appart and more like a single, they new we were 4 adults. one of the cupboard doors were hanging off and the capets were plasterd in dogs hair....
The water was pouring from the caravan wen we had a shower and to top it all off, we had an infestation of ants, we had 2 buy our own ant killing spray and noticed the whole caravan was surrounded by huge ants nests. overall the whole park was filthy. we had 2 clean it before we used anything. we would not recommend, and i mean not recommend anyone 2 book a holiday there, theres nothing thre to see or do!

“The Park Resorts Carmarthen Bay Holiday Park was tidy...”

★★★☆☆

written by on 07/06/2010

The Park Resorts Carmarthen Bay Holiday Park was tidy and clean and the gold standard caravan we had was new this year and had reasonable views over the estuary. We would not have been pleased with a chalet as they looked a bit old and not many of them offered a view of anything other than another chalet.

The site is fairly remote and quite a drive down a single-track lane (with passing places) to get to. There isn't too much to do in the immediate area but Kidwelly Castle is well worth a visit (even for kids), as is Pembury Country Park for its green open spaces, its woodland trails and its access to the gorgeous sandy beaches. An hour's drive will take you to Tenby and Saundersfoot and also the excellent (for kids at least) Folly Farm, with its extensive play areas.

One negative aspect of the holiday park is that it is adjacent to a well-used railway line (which ran very close to our caravan). There is also some sort of military testing ground across the estuary which meant that we were kept awake until almost midnight on 2 nights by a helicopter flying around the estuary non-stop for several hours at a time and had our sunbathing time during the day disturbed by a squadron of jet aircraft practicing their moves. Then there was the machine gun fire...

On-site, the pool was fine but the mini-golf a disappointment.

after reading the reviews i was dreading going to carmarthen bay.when we got there and into our silver chalets, it was a sign of relief.there was 10 in our group from age 20 month to 35.there was minor problems like shortage of bedding, few ants, but got sorted immediately. Overall we enjoyed it.we spent one full day in the resort, exploring all the entertainment and swimming pool.the kids loved it all.the other days we were out visiting other places.the downside is you have to travel one hour to go anywhere and the roads are very narrow.i would recommend it for people to go and have a relaxing holiday.
