I bought a DeLonghi EC820 coffee machine, which I like very much and have reviewed separately. One limitation of that machine (and others like it)is that they cannot take beans; you need to use ground coffee or pods. I like my coffee beans ground there and then for my cuppa - I think that is simply the only way to get the best taste. I bought this inexpensive burr grinder for less than £40 to get around that limitation. I had a blade grinder but you simply cannot get the results in an espresso machine with coffee ground with one of those. This burr grinder really does the job. Tip - if you like a really professional looking crema on your cuppa then use the second-finest grind setting on the burr grinder. It does need regular cleaning but is easy to dismantle for that purpose and the bits are all machine-washable, which is a big plus for a domestic lazy bones like me.
