If your grass is half an inch high and bone dry, this machine is perfect. Fact is that the real world isn't like that. Give it anything more to do, and it just bogs down - the motor is massively underpowered. It's also ridiculously heavy. Avoid.

While the mower is convenient to use, it is underpowered. On one week's growth of grass, it struggles to achieve an adequate blade speed, even when fully charged, and at a slow speed tears up the lawn. Forward progress has to be very slow. The throw of grass into the bin is poor, which means that clippings are discharged long before the bin is even a quarter full. The battery failed and had to be replaced. A great disappointment.

I find this machine struggles with even medium length wet grass, leaves mulch behind, it is a nightmare to clean with all the nooks and crannies it has it is vastly over hyped and far too expensive for what it is. As an aside just to prove I am unbiased and supportive of British enterprise, I have the GTech strimmer which is also not up to much the blades last minutes even though they are free, the GTech hedge trimmer which is very good, the GTech K9 carpet cleaner which is excellent and two GTech E bikes which also don't live up to the hype. My mower is being sold at a huge loss I am sure, I foolishly gave away my 5 year old Honda mower when this arrived. All in all this mower is probably suited to a very small garden that is mown every other day. Plus points? It is quiet, light, easy to assemble.

one big fault I have found is that the grass must be absolutely dry for the mower to work efficiently, I have just used it on a very warm day at 5.oclock (the days before being dry) but somewhere it picked up a damp patch and then it makes a horrible noise and tears the grass out of the ground. I had to adjust the height to continue which gave me a lawn that looked as if it need a mow. I am not an engineer but I feel that the blade is too long to allow grass that accumulates on the underside to escape It needs scraping far too often. It is well made and easy to clan and when the conditions are perfect does a good job, but I am glad I have not ditched my flymo!!!!

I opened the battery box to find a standard lead acid sealed battery 12v/7Ah. Bought a replacement (Yuasa Y9-12 which is 9Ah thus will last longer) from Bristol Batteries for £19.33 inc VAT. Easily fitted with a soldering iron to hand or two spade connectors. Easy and saved over £15.

I have three G Tech lawnmowers for use at different locations. Purchased some three years ago, they still work well but I have had to replace two batteries and a charger. Provided the grass is dry, they cut well and leave striped finish. If the grass is wet, then they will clog.

The G tech mower proved to be totally useless for cutting a normal lawn.On investigation I found that the motor that was fitted was totally under powered at 50 watts. The mechanical design was attractive and I don't understand how the manufacturers put it on the market while overlooking the power needed to do the job.
I took it for granted that the mower would be designed to have enough power to do the job that it was meant to do.

Gtech CM01 is the best bargain I have ever bought for just £49.99 from B&M's in Uddingston It cuts my grass as good as a £200 machine.Take note its for cutting a lawn not the amazon jungle like some of the other people seem to think.my lawn measures 6 metres X 6 metres and I get 2 cuts a week apart with just 1 16 hour charge.I would have purchased sooner if I hadn't read the other reviews

i was so disappointed when i opened the box upon arrival of my gtech mower---the add sounded so great....but in fact it is a cheap chinese made piece of rubbish!!!
the batteries don't hold a charge. the thing started deconstructing its'self almost on first use. it bogged down in grass that was not tall, nor thick !!!
it is so cheaply made.....unbelievable!!!!
on the rating of 5 stars..i give it a negative 5 stars, as it is the cheapest, most poorly made tool i have ever tried to use.

the gtech cm01 lawnmower which i recently purchased from home bargains store only cost £49.99 (i think they made a pricing error but there still selling them at that price).the reviews i read here do not do it justice.i think most of these people expect it to perform like your petrol mower.i had left my lawn for some weeks without a cut i flymowed it and then a few days later gtech'd it with the cm01-brilliant,the cm01 is a brill machine for keeping your lawn short and i think this is what it was designed for.yes it is a little noisy-so what!so are most other machines.the cutting cylinder should just touch the blade-however you can adjust it so it barley touches the blade which will quieten it a little.easy to take apart and store,no wires,no petrol and my intention is to keep my lawn low-less grass cuttings as well.at first i was put off by these reviews but as usual you have to try these things for yourself, and at £49.99 i'm thinking of buying another,as a spare battery costs approx (£20+)so might as well buy the whole cm01 and got spares.thank you gtech and thank you home bargains, its like buy 1 get 1 free hee hee.

If I'm allowed to use the word rubbish then that fits the Gtech CM01 performance. It cuts very poorly and seems to lack power at all times despite constant charging. I'm not sure if I can get my money back on this useless lawnmower

My Gtech stopped working 3 weeks outside of 1 year guarentee. Re-charged battery but had been charged already. Nothing. Phoned customer services who suggested I needed a new handle/trigger at £15 as it was out if warranty. I used a voltmeter to test the circuit to find the handle/trigger was fine, but the motor had died. Lucky I didn't spend £15 at customer services advice.

As a toy , or for someone with a postage stamp sized lawn the Gtech CM01 might just work, MAYBE. The advert said the the battery was good for cutting about 1/2 acre of lawn but was so underpowered that it was loosing power after only 2 or 3 minutes. Had to fight with it constantly as my lawn has worm mounds in it and is not as flat as a putting green. The "grass catcher" is designed very badly and catches about 1/4 of the clippings, the rest spray out to the sides or simply fly right over the top of the catcher. The cutting bed is so narrow that I can see that it would take a full battery to cut a lawn the size of a tennis court, on my lawn it actually cut less than a 1 foot swath with each pass.

I agree wholeheartedly with Robin2437s comments about the Gtech CM01 and would add it is very noisy and you could do with eardefenders when using it.
My cm01 has the solid grassbox and it kept falling off, unfortunately I bought mine on QVC and before I got a chance to use it I had to go into hospital for a hip replacement which ment I could not use it for several weeks and it was too late to send it back o the 30 day money back period so I am stuck with a mower thats just a waste off space
I have since bought a bosch battery powered mower and this is like having a Rolls Royce to a banger and not a lot dearer either

If the Gtech CM01 lawn mower is parked on anything but the flattest ground, the centre of balance is poor. The handle falls down onto the grass basket and will soon damage it. To pick up or turn the mower, there's really only one way to hold it: then the cylinder unit falls forward and the grass cuttings fall out of the basket all over the mower and the lawn. At least half of the cuttings spray over, or to the sides, of the basket: very messy. Most of the time, the weak motor means that cuttings aren't projected into the basket but soon collect around the exit: preventing any further collection. The slightest tuft stops the cylinder. it really isn't practical to remove the key and battery as recommended before clearing the blockage. The height adjustment is fiddly - a very poor bit of engineering. The basket is thin steel rod with a soft mesh container, not solid as appears in some photos. Also, the mower is much smaller than some photos make it appear. I've sent it back.
