“Disgusting customer service”

Purchased windows and doors 3 years ago from the above firm. My door has changed colour and the living window is leaking. I was told I had a 10 year guarantee. I telephoned the company on Monday and they told me I had 3year guarantee. The woman actually was so rude and swore at me over the phone... Please don't use this company

“3 years on and what looks good from the outside is...”

written by on 03/02/2017

3 years on and what looks good from the outside is rotten on the inside. These lot built a 3mx3m porch and had nothing but problems along the way but it will cost you £100 for a callout BUT you will get it back if its their fault, laugh, laugh,. A small drip of water through the roof and a quick phone call told me that as they had a Management change out last November all warranties were void and NO they would not come out, end of story. Now I have a "proper" builder who showed me the gap between my roof and their roof was over an inch wide and water was blowing in and running down the porch timber. Then he showed me the guttering which was held together with Kitchen Silicone, totally useless for outside with shrinkage and cracking, a gap of 30mm wide was filled in with this in 2 places. They are happy to take your money but aftercare is rubbish, same premises, same phone number, same employees,  "BEWARE"

“Yellow staining”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Ravenp222 on 30/06/2016

10 days after 5 new windows installed yellow staining appeared on the inside frames of several windows. Phoned, texted and email them and still nothing has happened 2 weeks later. They are not interested once they have received your money. It is a shame because the 2 guys who installed them looked like they did a good job and cleaned up after themselves.

“UN-PERFECT GLAZING”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Rees295 on 05/04/2016

4 weeks after I had 2 upvc doors supplied and fitted 13.1.2016 Cracks at the joints started to open up , both doors leak, have trouble closing the doors, bits falling off. I contacted them on several occasions by phone and email with no reply. When I purchased the doors I was told I had a 10 year warranty with excellent support. Wish I had never heard of them , avoid them at all costs , once they have your money thats the end. The warranty is not worth the paper its written on.

Got french doors 2 years ago had problems with closing them. They came to fix that then insulation wasn't the same the room cold even when heating was on. Phoned them up to see if they could adjust doors so that heat wouldn't escape through gap at bottom off door which they replied that french doors only guaranteed 1 year not 10? Will not be getting using perfect glazing again.

I know the feeling. I purchased 3 triple windows and a set of French doors for my sunroom. 7 out of 10 glass panels have now failed ( condensation inside glass meaning windows look dirty at all times) Pvc seeping yellow puss which I can only presume is glue of some sorts. I phoned them and they sent out a salesman who quoted me £800 to replace the glass. For 2 weeks they have been ignoring my calls as this should be covered under warranty. So my advice is STAY AWAY FROM PERFECT

“Imperfect Glazing”

★☆☆☆☆

written by 81Olson on 18/11/2015

Assuming the good reviews are not bogus, I congratulate those few on their good luck. For the rest, I thought rather than rant about how bad PG are I would put together this guide. 1) Price: PG were approx 15~20% cheaper than quotes obtained elsewhere. If they are not at least this lower than other quotes then don’t buy. 2) Scope 1: Double Glazing should be a mature industry now with little risk of getting a bad product. However don’t consider PG for anything new. They are fine when replacing existing features. New items such as gazebo or porches require a bit more technical input which the PG contract workforce doesn’t have in their toolkit! Do not use them for Tilt & Turn type windows either as again these windows require careful installation to achieve a good fit & ensure they remain water tight. 3) Scope 2: Make sure that what you requested is what is supplied. Occasionally the workforce will be despatched with door internals which are different from that ordered (due to error in workshop etc). Although change over is relatively straight forward, do not sign off the job until the replacement is made. This will give you more time to go over the installation thoroughly & raise any other concerns. 4) Installation 1: Check that the inner panes of glass are held symmetrically within the frame with no end lower than another. This ensures that the pane does not contact screws in the inner frame. These can damage the pane & cause cracking especially when subject to thermal cycling in winter. It can also lead to misting if the seal between the panes is damaged. 5) Installation 2: Use a credit card to check the seal between frame & window/door seal. PG find it difficult to get a door to both close easily & seal against the weather so particular attention is required here. Check each window in a similar manner. 6) Mastic: PG use an inferior mastic & application technique & their workforce don’t clean the PVC (with white spirit etc) prior to use. Hence, the mastic can come away from the frame. This is often the cause of wind noise around the window/door rather than poor seal. This is difficult to check immediately post installation as the mastic will still be curing. However, if installation goes on over a few days then check those installed on day one by gently pressing the PVC. The mastic should flex if adhered but not part from the PVC. 7) Enforcement 1: people are apt to show goodwill to the workforce after a few days of working in the house & getting to know them. However, don’t let this compromise the checks above in any way. The PG workforce are self employed & have no loyalty to you or PG after the job is signed off. If necessary, get some forceful person to go over the items for you. This will likely delay the job completion & the workforce may want to carry on completing these tasks in a bad tempered fashion. If it is not convenient to you then check with them how long they will work for each evening prior to work commencing & state that you don’t want them working past 20:00 hours or whatever. This can then be used to get them to return the next day if necessary giving you even more time for thorough checking. 8) Enforcement 2: PG are not set up to handle remedial repairs to their own works nor posses the customer relations necessary to administer it. Consequently, it is likely you will reach impasse at some stage. Take photos of any unsatisfactory item & send them via e-mail stating the repair you would like & the time frame you feel they should comply with. PG may get round to repair but in my case it was necessary to take them to court via the small claims. For items less than £200 this costs £17. You should be prepared to attend the Sheriff Court in Glasgow if necessary & getting time off for this may be the main obstacle. However, whilst PG often opt to go to court they seldom turn up meaning you are able to claim travel expenses etc. The main reason for going these lengths would be to safeguard the guarantee on the items (hopefully they will take more attention of subsequent requests). If a decree is finally granted go straight to a Sheriff Officer firm to enforce rather than sending PG a copy. This increases their costs but saves any further delay. 9) Enforcement 3: As PGs goods come with a 10 year guarantee it is reasonable to expect them to make repairs as they become apparent over this lifetime. If they refuse it is possible to take them to court to honour this obligation. This is covered in the Small Claims court guidance. 10) Communication. PG will not phone you back despite assurances to the contrary. Make sure you structure requests for remedial repairs with a date by which they must get back to you. You can also contact them via their sales email. 11) Payment: Do not sign off the job & pay until the steps above have been completed to your own satisfaction. Then do not pay for the job in cash but use a credit card. PG have already changed name once. Unless they actually change their company number then this device does not absolve them of their liabilities. However, knowing the performance of PG as I do, it is unlikely they will survive in the industry long term. Consequently, the Credit Card company are jointly liable for the terms of sale & can be sued etc. for repairs if PG go bust. Good luck.

Good balanced review which confirms this company to be incompetent across the board. Your experience is more common of PG customers . All PG dissatisfied customers should report PG to Trading Standards as they are presently compiling a case file. Above all new customers pay by Credit Card to get Section 75 protection of Consumer Credit Act.

“Perfect Nightmare”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Tweekie2834 on 24/08/2015

I had a 3x3 conservatory fitted in July/Aug 2014 and it looked wonderful. However, over the winter I had damp issues and all my cane furniture went mouldy, the nails in the plasterboard went rusty and came through the plaster and paint on the inside dwarf walls. I got a landscaper in to slab the area of my garden in July 2015 and that's when the nightmare began. The foundation was found to be too small for the external brick dwarf walls - therefore water penetrated the cavity. They had also backfilled the foundation and wall immediately after the build and this had ( due to the amount of water falling as rain) undermined the cement in the joints. There was none left. The whole of the base was filled with water and no wonder I was getting damp walls. There were breathers in the wall - at the wrong level and on one side of the wall there were none. It took me 5 weeks to get any kind of response from them. They kept telling me that they done drain the garden with a small conservatory, and would not go further- leaving it to me to repair their shoddy work. Today they came to fix the issue. A kid with a bucket and spade could have done better. They were dirty, untidy workers that promised they would do a good job to repair the poor build and have left my garden a mess. My landscaper will have to tidy up their mess, at an expense once again to me. They also tried to hide the soil they were supposed to be taking away by throwing it behind sleepers I have had installed. I saw them on CCTV and had my partner stop them before they went too far. Their customer service stinks and you can never get a straight answer from them. STAY WELL CLEAR OF THIS ROUGE TRADER.

“Far from perfect and appalling customer service”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Morag33 on 02/02/2014

We had 4 windows and 1 door installed by this company in 2012. I was a bit concerned during the installation as the sealant they were using looked similar to the stuff you buy in the pound shop - a few months later the windows in our bedroom started whistling and all the sealant on wndows and doors started shrinking and showing gaps. After months of phone calls and really bad customer service the guys who did the installation finally turned up and resealed a couple of things. however we have now paid another company to re-seal all the windows and they now seem to be okay. They are appalling. I am now waiting for something else to go wrong with these windows. We never did get a copy of our 10 year guarantee, so I am anticipating having to replace the units well before the 10 years are out, judging by some of the reviews on this sight.

I would rate this company as Nil star on customer service. Having ordered a replacement door with the company rep. 'Ian' on 4th February 2014, and then being told by their engineer on the 6th February 2014 it could not be done without the bottom step, whereby the order was cancelled with him. However, on receiving our February credit card statement I found Perfect Glazing had taken out the deposit for the door that same day. Since then I have phoned the company numerous times and was assured by the 'Lady' boss (not too sure on her being a Lady, as she has lied numerous times....telling me she would phone me back that same day and never did) on the 10th March the money would be refunded back before noon the next day. I should have known, once again the Lady boss lied and no refund was received on our March credit card, her excuse this time was they were waiting for the sales department. Once again she has promised to return my call today..... Don't trust or use this company ever

I completely disagree the sealant that you use does not entirely make a difference to the quality of the whole window in the dimensions that you apparently accuse the company of. They probably used the same sealing as on my own windows and they have been perfect even with me living in one of the wettest areas of Scotland!

Also check your English before you post such an absurd claim it is " SITE" not "sight" -_-

Hi,
I wouldn't say my claim is absurd - it's just my experience of this company, which is obviously not the same as yours. The installers who did my windows used poor quality sealant, that's not absurd, just a fact.
I'm glad that you had a better experience - perhaps you had better installers who were more conscientious (hope I've spelled that to your satisfaction). I hope your windows continue to be perfect - unfortunately a lot of people on this website haven't had that experience with this company.
By the way, I always think it's best not to correct other people's spelling and grammar unless you're absolutely sure that your own is perfect.

“I had 20 windows fitted by Perfect Glazing in August...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 18/04/2011

I had 20 windows fitted by Perfect Glazing in August 2009. In February this year I found that 2 sealed units had failed. I contacted Perfect Glazing who stated that they would replace these units within 3 weeks. After about 2 weeks another failed unit was discovered. Again I contacted Perfect glazing who stated that the 2 failed units originally reported were ready but they would manufacture the third and replace altogether. After 6 weeks no contact from Perfect Glazing. I contacted them for an update. They said they would phone back - They didn't.
I went to their office where they stated that they were no longer Perfect Glazing (Glasgow) Ltd, and were Perfect Glazing (Scotland) Ltd and therefore the guarantee was null and void.
Perfect Glazing (Glasgow) Limited is still an active company. No one at Perfect Glazing (Scotland) Limited gave me this information, and actually refused to give me any information on the company. The people at Perfect Glazing (Scotland) Limited were obstructive and rude.
I had previously had double glazing for 20 years without a single failure of a sealed unit. Now I have had three in 18 months. Obviously their manufacturng preocess is poor.
They may look good value when on iitial purchase but If the windows fail at the rate that they are and this company will not stand by their guarantee then Perfect Glazing becpmes a very expensive choice.
Do not touch this company.

On Thursday 10th December 2009 I had windows installed by Perfect Glazing. Main concern was saftey glass was not installed and water coming in . After several attempts and months later to get them to fix the problem they came out and changed the glass but I was still getting water coming in which they put down to condensation. I finally had to get a independent report done which stated that the windows where not meaured right in the first place and cheap materials had been used . I presented this information to Perfect Glazing who still did nothing. It has took me till 2012 to have my day in court which I won but because they have changed their name yet again they will get away with ripping people off. I would stay well clear from this company but watch out Perfect what you called now Perfect Glazing Scotland next month Perfect Glazing Lets thing of a name there's been that many.

Exactly what happened to my inlaws' conservatory - to the letter i.e. failing glazed units, asian owner Rose said that it will get fixed but then one day claims not to know who mu mum in law is despite receeiving calls and promising to fix the problem for months!! Then the firm changes it's name overnight (one word in the name i.e. Glasgow becoming Scotland - hence your warranty is null and void - what a nonsense, same firm, premises, directors - I hope Trading Standards nail these con artists to a cross for their sins! Clearly the people at Perfect cannot make double glazed units so if you don't want the stress of being ripped off, go elsewhere - believe me. My mum in law has just retired and this debacle has caused her a lot of grief and hassle.

Having had a few triple glazed units installed in January at my house, I've arranged for that firm (East Kilbride based, also do solar panles - excellent product) to replace all of the glazed units to bring an end to the heartache. AVOID PERFECT GLAZING - YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

i had 8 windows and 1 door fitted in april 2009. after 14 months i realised that in the upstairs 2 bedroom windows the seal had broken and you couldnt see outside properly, you would think it was raining, condensation all the time.
i dont know how many times i phoned them, first i was told they would fix it but they were busy at the moment and asked me to wait a while which i agreed.
unfortunately after few weeks when i phoned i was told somebody would phone me but nobody did.
i wrote complaint letter but they wrote me back saying that guarantee for moving parts is 12 months and they can repair if i agree on a price. in my guarantee document guarantee for the glass is 5 years!
i didnt get anywhere with them, they are not bothered because upon completion of installing the windows i had paid cash.
also my big living room window has the same problem now and im devastated.
i just want perfrct glazing to stay true to the promises they give, 5 year guarantee for glass, 10 year guarantee for upvc.
now im going to the trading standart office, if they dont agree to do the repair.
i wouldnt recommend this company to anybody, if you have problems with their products they just ignore you!

after sending engineer to this property it was established that it is condensation which has nothing to do with the windows but it is to do with humidity within the room. Customers are quick to complain regarding some thing that has nothing to do with the company. Maybe this customer will write a letter of oppologies....no it never happens

You are right, do not expect any decent aftersale support. We just had a very bad experience with them. I was just asking them to issue us a proper receipt having purchased from them thousands of pounds in fixing our windows and they gave me such a hard time. They are unreasonable and unprofessional and anyhow make up stories and accusations to say you are at fault. They can even think customers should write them letters of apology and even threaten to call the police over your honest reviews. Absolute nonsense! Will never recommend anyone to this company.

Hi, A deposit is generally Not refundable in any circumstance, that's what it's for to cover the business in case you pull out at a later date and leave them out if pocket, in this case if they had already made your windows they would have to dump them, the deposit covers this loss. But if they have already promised to return it, I'm guessing they hadn't already made your windows. I have dealt with them in the past and although they were ok, they weren't brilliant. I am still waiting on a damaged window which was fitted to be replaced, that was last year so I wouldn't hold your breathe. Contact trading standards for advice.

Many thanks for answering. We did not cancel our order, they cancelled it two days later, because their engineer said their door could not be installed without a bottom step. However, the matter has now been resolved after numerous calls and finally going live on the web. Many thanks once again.
