Terrible! Nada recomendable!!!

“Extremely Poor Customer Service”

★★☆☆☆

written by Jovotrix on 06/05/2023

Wanted to see about upgrading the class for my flight home. Sent travelup an email asking if I could do so. Never received a reply so ended up phoning them instead. Spent a good hour in the queue waiting to talk to someone. Eventually a bored sounding, barely audible gentleman who never gave his name answered the phone very brusquely and rudely. Seemed annoyed when I told him I could barely hear him and had a very unfriendly attitude throughout the call. Put me on hold when he said he was going to find out a price for me. After another 20 minutes waiting, eventually came back and told me it would be £8400 to upgrade to business class! After telling him I'd just keep my original fight, he awkwardly hung disconnected the call. Difficult to get in contact with, don't answer emails, long phone wait times, unpleasant agents and ridiculous prices. Won't be using them again.

“Shoddy customer service”

★☆☆☆☆

written by ocBarnett81 on 30/03/2023

I booked a one-way ticket with Traveup from India to USA for April 2,2023. First travelup sent me an email airlines canceled the flight and offered me a different flight (April 3). I accepted the change. I had something come up in last minute and asked for rescheduling to a different date which is when they quoted an additional $1350. For the date I asked one way ticket is $1350, but travelup asked for the full price instead of asking me to pay the price difference. When I sent emails about this there was no response, if I call I am put on hold for 15-20mins each time and they keep saying someone is working on the case and that they will get back in 30mins. It never happened. It is super frustrating to work with them, and I even asked for a cancellation, so that I can get refunded and buy a ticket on my own. I am still left hanging in air waiting for their response. I would never recommend working with them.

“Stranded at Barcelona Airport by TravelUp - no refund”

★☆☆☆☆

written by TanjaR on 29/03/2023

AVOID TravelUp - I wish I had. They sent me an e-ticket for my return flight from Barcelona, but didn't actually book me onto the flight. So after hours of trying to sort it out at the airport, the only thing TravelUp would do was book me onto another flight - which took me to the wrong UK airport. This was on boxing day, so I had to pay £100 for a taxi to get me to the airport where my car was parked. After numerous calls and emails they are now ghosting me and have not refunded either the flight or my taxi costs. I got a call a couple of months ago from a customer service person who promised to look into it but no-one is responding any more. I waited for 2 hours on hold to reach them, and was then cut off. They should really be struck off as travel agents.

“Do NOT use this Travel Up”

★☆☆☆☆

written by dimikuma on 24/02/2023

Be aware of Travel Up! Flights offered by then show up on Sky Scanner. The airline cancelled my flight and I’m entitled to a refund in this case as the airline was at fault. However, it has been more than 8 weeks and I still have not received it. Other customers have had same issue below, so please don’t try to save a few coins on SkyScanner and book with TravelUp as it is not worth it in case you have flight cancellations. Their refunds department is made up of only one lady who is extremely unfriendly and unhelpful. She has no care for helping customers. I believe they take money from the airline from cancellations and do not distribute back to the customers. The regulatory watchdog should investigate TravelUp honestly!

“DO NOT USE ”

written by McIntosh1986 on 16/01/2023

I had a connecting flight from Heathrow to Manchester. The main flight was delayed by an hour by virgin, and they advised that i am likely to miss my connecting flight, so to re-arrange that. So i rang them on a Sunday and was advised that the rescheduling department is closed and will open tomorrow and to ring back then. i rang on Monday and spoke to someone with a poor command of the English language. He told me that an hour for a connecting flight is a viable time. Then went on to say that the rescheduling department does not take calls and only uses emails. However, another passenger on the same flight had re-scheduled their flight only on Saturday. so currently left in limber as do not know if i will make the connecting flight?? DO NOT USE

written by IgMa on 10/01/2023

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! Nov 14th, 2022 I bought tickets from travelup. I was very much looking forward to my pre-Christmas stay in Brussels. Unfortunately, the flight was Dec 7th, 2022 canceled by airline. Travelup did not help me find a new alternative. Silence! No service! Despite the fact that there was no cancellation on my part, the travel agency still did not refund the £302.09 I paid for the tickets. Travelup has been illegally holding my money for a month now. Refunds are subject to approval with a £50 fee. Why? For what? I have nothing at all from travelup and have to pay £50? We'll see what the County court says about it! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!

They cancelled my return ticket without informing me. Only to tell me that I need to pay £800 on top of buying my ticket. Worst customer service from the staff who all appear to use Fake English names. From calling I kept being told someone will call me back in an hour and no one ever rang. I would not recommend anyone to use this website. I ended up having to book a new ticket as I was stranded. Do Not Use! The company also offered me an incentive to write a good review before the flight (which is wrong) I’m guess that is where all the good reviews came from!

“TRAVEL NOWHERE WITH TRAVEL UP”

★☆☆☆☆

written by DouglasWatson on 20/11/2022

TRAVEL NOWHERE WITH TRAVEL UP Firstly there should be some accountability as to why Travel up is allowed on websites such as Sky scanner and such. This "travel agency" is a total rip off. DO NOT BOOK ANYTHING ON THIS SITE. I booked a flight for myself and partner and child. Leaving from London Heathrow. I agreed the booking paid the money over the phone when Travel up sent a email payment link to process. The agent sent me the itinerary before I paid leaving from LHR. And I paid. He said the confirmation would be there within 24 hours. Only to wake up the next day, and check and see the agent booked me flying out from London City airport! This on Friday afternoon is a 3 hour trek through London. I called the agents back and after what seems liked hours of trying to make these people understand, they agreed on email to give me a refund minus the booking fee. Now why would I pay for a booking fee that was booked in error by the agent. This is absurd! This happened in May 2022. Its now November 20th 2022. And Travel up have just sent me and email after months of battling with these people to get a £400 refund they cannot give me one. My advise to Skyscanner's and the big platform providers is to review properly these charlatans, low energy vampires, and get rid of them off their platforms. I also emailed the CEO but as usual he made his wealth of ripping normal people like us off. I will be taking legal action on Travel up. TAKE ACTION GET RID OF THESE ROBBERS.

“I bought a ticket, suffered an injury one day before...”

written by ttJarvis318 on 20/09/2022

I bought a ticket, suffered an injury one day before travel, hospital told me I couldn't travel anymore. Spoke to the Airlines they said if Travel up contacts them they will approve the refund. Travelup refused to contact them and refused to refund me. I spent 5 days working on this, endless emails back and forth, to no avail. This agency will do anything to keep your money. They have no decency and no conscience. Do not book with them. Beware.

“TERRIBLE AGENCY!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Nashbn34 on 04/08/2022

Avoid this company like the plague, Writing this here because TrustPilot is not genuine! I bought tickets to on SkyScanner for two people at the value of £2400, the booking was under 'British Airways and Qantas' but without any update or warning they pushed us onto an American flight chain and were met with restrictions with Visa's not being possible, I called these people and along with speaking with 3 terribly rude representatives, I was told that they would happily cancel the flight that they falsely advertised me, but it would come at a £75 'Administration fee' per ticket which I am happy with. However, on top of this with absolutely no justification what so ever they told me that I was liable for a deduction of around £1800 in my deposit leading me to have a total refund of £389 out of £2400. I then proceeded to get in touch with them and was unable to get any assistance, so I took matter into my own hands to call American Airlines to see if they could make the most out of the situation and put me on a neighbouring flight. Upon discussing this with them they told me that their cancellation fee for their flight would be $200 per ticket (£164.50), so in other words this company under their sham attempt of upselling a falsely advertised ticket has practically tricked me. I have been building my case to present for a credit card claim in which will have magical results following voice recordings and other written evidence. Thank you for ruining a once celebrated family holiday and leaving a bad taste in my month.

“Bad customer service ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by OmariHuber on 04/07/2022

I booked through Skyscanner and chose this company. I am currently so stressed with their customer service. A mistake was made (one letter in a surname) and as soon as I submitted I called them immediately to advise. In the meantime their email arrived which stated We have checked this against our records but should you have any queries please contact us immediately, the same day of reservation (within our working hours) as we will be unable to make any changes the following day. Particular attention should be paid to the spelling of names, as these must be as printed in the passports of those travelling. I was told the name could not be amended and I would have to rebook the flights costing £150. I explained the error again and that I would like to discuss this with a manager and was completely stonewalled. I am trying to resolve this but it is very stressful and the customer service is terrible. Steer clear - human errors occur and there is no period of amendment at all without being charged a ridiculous amount

“Appalling customer service”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Jazmint1 on 03/07/2022

Appalling customer service. I had a flight cancellation by the airline, TravelUp told me they could not rebook the flight (even with another airline, despite there being plenty of options), and then would not simply refund my booking cost, they started deducting lots of fees for 'administration' and were unwilling to refund the full amount. In post-COVID uncertainty, I would stay clear of agents like this that try to profit from cancellations and rescheduling.

“I made a mistake in my booking and contacted travelup...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Flores44 on 02/06/2022

I made a mistake in my booking and contacted travelup within minutes of my booking going through. I phones and was not ablet to get through. At the same time I emailed. It took 2 days to get a reply which was very unhelpful 1 sentence replies I needed to wait for well over 12 hours at times. While the flights where getting more expensive. I had booked me and my 2 kids to fly to Frankfurt. I misspelled the first name of my child ( an honest mistake and I knew I would need to pay for a new flight and just wanted help how to do this. The original praice for the 3 was £416 To rebook my child with the correct name they wanted £360 fees, and fines apparently... This is unbelievable. Not just that they where not very helpful ad the outcome is unacceptable There customer service is neither quilified nor articulate. The email support was a joke. So if you are in a rush or about to fly this is outrageous. The helpline I waited 3 times up to 45 min then got to someone 2x and both times was transferred to the sales team and both times I was just hung up on while waiting. This is very disappointing customer service, actually worse than Ryanair in the heydays. Watch out and make sure you tick all boxes correct as there is no way to correct anything. Worse you cant even book a new flight. So as it stands my 8-year-old wont be able to be booked on our flight. In the 4 days I have tried solving the issue the flight price rose and who knows what they offer when the flight is full... guess we all stay home and lose our family flights. The outcome... non of us can fly as I can hardly leave an 8 year old at home.

I have flights booked with Travelup, but unfortunately need to change my outbound flight by one day. They require £200 Per ticket.  I phoned KLM direct who informed me there are flights available, also cheaper, but they can't change it as Travelup have blocked this capability. What should I do?  This seems wrong to me and morally incorrect.

If you out of the refund window, i.e. if there is no charge to get your money back I would get all your money back and look elsewhere. A good place to start is skyscanner or cheapflights. As a frequent flyer ( I am a scuba diver) I will NEVER use Travelup again they have lost my business.

I HAVE HAD ONLY A BAD EXPERIENCE WITH TRAVELUP. TWO FLIGHTS BOOKED TO CANADA AND LOST DUE TO UNFORSEEN CIRCUMSTANCES. THEY SEEM UNABLE OR UNWILLING TO HELP THEIR CUSTOMERS CIRCUMSTANCES AND I WILL NEVER USE THEM AGAIN. I AM SORRY THAT YOU HAVE FOUND YOURSELF AT THEIR MERCY BUT CAN ONLY ADVISE YOU CONTACT THEM AS I DID BUT TO EXPECT NOTHING AND THEN ANYTHING MORE IS A BONUS.

That's appalling. First re-ask them to reconsider their position. If no change or help write a genuine review of your experience and then also contact The International Air Transport Association (IATA) which is the trade association who they seem to be linked with (badge is on their website) and get advice / make an official complaint. I have booked a major holiday in the summer with them and knowing now how unhelpful they are beyond sale albeit greedy, I just hope nothing goes wrong! So sorry you've had this fight. Will insurance cover you? Refund position? Rebook the flight direct for less than £200 each? Do let us know the outcome...

Has anyone obtained an air passenger duty refund successfully from these people? It's been months since my initial request where I was told to submit another request after our flights. Then told to wait 4 to 6 weeks but up to 8. Still waiting 10 weeks later, suspect I'll have to pursue through small claims court, I've already sent details of my charges should I be waiting longer than today, eg interest, costs for emails time and travel. Fortunately I regularly travel to Reading so may be able to pay a visit.

Dreadful company. They made errors in the name on our e-tickets, repeated efforts to get them to correct this on the day of purchase when it could be done at no cost were not dealt with by their call centre went un-dealt with. Repeated efforts to resolve the problem over following days just involved being passed from pillar to post by rude, unhelpful staff, I believed trained never to accept responsibility for their errors. Subsequent research has shown that their call centre is in Karachi and their UK headquarters is a run down end terrace office in Reading adjoining a takeaway. They didn't bother replying to postal correspondence. Using this company involved costly ticket cancellations and using a company with a good reputation instead. Avoid Travel Up like the plague.

We booked flights to Australia and got a great deal on Singapore Airlines. I found out after I had booked that they had a terribe record on reviews and raised this with them. They seemed concerned to put things right and we had no problems whatsoever. On the point of your question, I guess most companies will have a holding company, but this could be a rebranding after the reviews. I havent looked at their reviews since we travelled, but I would be inclined to shop around and then, if you are going to book, give them a call. On a separate point, having travelled to Orlando many times before, we have always put it together ourselves i.e. get the best flight that suits, arrange the car rental independently and then book the accommodation. It keeps your choices wide open. There is no need to go through a tour operator unless you want all of that taken care of for you.

Travel-Up are not a proper tour operator, they are a travel agent. They just book your hotel at discount prices and your flight. Its not the same as if you book through a proper tour operator. A proper tour operator will look after you from the start of the booking. When you get to the airport you will have a representative from your company to check you in for your flight and a rep will visit your hotel Monday to Friday and they can always be reached in an emergency. Also, with a proper tour operator which is a member of ABTA, you are fully protected in case your tour operator went bankrupt or your hotel or airline went bankrupt after you booked and when you are on your holiday. If you buy from a company that called them self a tour operator, they should have an up to date membership of ABTA. ABTA membership cost the tour operator many thousands of pounds, small company's like Travel-Up are not a proper tour operator and you don't have any protection or a representative to sort out problems with the flight or hotel. Travel-Up are not members of ABTA. ABTA is the UK travel trade association for tour operators and travel agents. Travel-up show they are members of Atol and IATA the [International Air Transport Association in the UK] [ATOL][Air Travel Organisers' Licensing] will help you get compensation if your airline went bankrupt.

Just to dodge their bad reputation. Cancel everything if you can. I'd pay £100 just to not have to deal with Magic Holidays or Travel Up. They give you a cheap flight, then say its 'pending', then they wait for the prices to go up then they pop up their ugly heads to say that they have to charge you more. Get your money back and start again.
