I've bought 3 of these computers now and each of them have had a hard drive problem every time..... When you buy it its fine for the first few months but then I just ran into so many problems with it and as a result have lost all my work and memoriable photos/videos I cannot get back. I would definately say do not get this laptop!!!

I have mixed feelings about the Acer 5315.Ive had it for about 3 years. It was considered fairly good at the time,it has a 80g hard drive and one gig of ram and although there was laptops more powerfull and with bigger hard drives at the time it was probaly the cheapest compared to others with the same spec.Ran with no problems for a while but like all laptops, its only getting slower.Havent had any problems whith the keyboard exept the d key which occationaly lifts up but it is 3 years old.Screen and display, also no problems. After about a year or so I noticed that the hinges were opening at the back which worried me but have had no further problems. Its pretty slow and is getting gradualy worse and now when i click on a link i have to reload the page a couple of times before it opens. Its bulky and heavy which is'nt a problem for home use but forget it if your thinking of taking the Acer 5315 away with you. When I brought it I thought 80g hard drive would have been suffiecient and as any laptop user knows you collect programs, software and files which over the course of a couple of years easily eats up your disk space. The battery power is bad and has got worse since new,now I can probably get two hours max once fully charged out of it which is'nt a problem for home use but go into a enviroment where you cant charge it and it's a pain.
Overall
If you are sombody who is easily wound up by slow laptops do not buy this.Although I am impressed it has lasted this long but compared to modern laptop its very slow.Basicly it was ok at the time, has lasted a while but has insuffisient storage and ram.Would suit kids as first laptop.

Now i have got a dell Inspiron 15 from Dell.com this it the link to it. I have had not one problem with it and give it a 9/10.

This was my first laptop...and I have to say that overall I've been happy with it...or at least I was until a few months ago. The screen is pretty big and very clear and it plays all my films and everything fine and the wireless never fails.
Here's the problems...
There is nowhere near enough memory on this laptop, I have the 1gb 80gb model and I can't play any games on it without them freezing or crashing and I don't have enough memory for all my music etc.
It also takes and AGE to load up, although it didn't do when I first got it. Another annoying thing...half the time the volume won't change, it started doing this about 2 or 3 months ago...from turning it on the buttons and on screen changer often don't work for about 20 minutes and sometimes not at all.
The battery is now totally knackered, if I'm not really doing anything with it I can get it to last for about an hour and a half...with films playing I need to have it plugged in almost all the time.
Oh and it's not easy to lug around with me because it's so heavy.
This is honestly a good solid laptop for home use but if you do decide to get it I recommend getting an external hard drive for music and pictures and don't use it for gaming.

Overall I like this system as it has a balance of what I need. A largish keyboard and screen. Dual partition drives of 32GB so I can have one for work and the other for study, thereby giving me one laptop for two things.
I regularly use it for listening to music, creating podcasts, presentations, newsletters and other documents with no problem.
My system has Win Vista Basic, 1GB DDR2 RAM, Intel Celeron 1.73GB and a 15'' screen.

acer are good at what they do, but my experience of them, is that they are basic computers. If they were cars, they would a a Fiesta, but the purchasers expect a BMW!!
