“Call back ”

★★☆☆☆

written by Andrewsaxon01 on 28/04/2015

My car although 20years old has 3 call back so I booked it in with stratstone of bury.the day in I'd booked it in for 28th April so I booked a day of work, needless to say I had booked it a week in before to go in on said day, so I turned up and they booked me and I went for a walk ten minutes later I got a phone call to say they couldn't do it as they haven't got the parts cause they messed up with the parts.i wasn't at all happy having to loose a day's pay and the fuel to get up there from Wigan let's hope they can get it right when I take it back in a months time

“WARNING!!!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by davcott on 11/10/2013

Bought a NEW car from these guys a few years ago - absolutely fantastic! Traded it in for a second hand one last year and its proven to be the biggest mistake I've ever made! They have lied to me from day 1, sold me a car that's had severe accident damage in the past and has more faults than I can go into!! Absolute disgrace of a company and I'm still waitng fo a call back from their dealer principle from march/April regarding his promise to exchange the car!! WARNING NEVER BUY A USED CAR FROM THESE PEOPLE!! They give land rover a bad name!!

Bought a used cls of these guys i returned it as there was a problem with the window going up or down they returned it no better, local garage said the cables where fraid which they should of noticed that straight away. Second problem was cracked alloys which they changed the tyres so again should of been noticed rang them £500 each. Not a happy chappy thought i would go to a respectable dealer not these guys. Sorry stratstone could do miles better.

“Refused to refund deposits”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Decent11 on 05/02/2013

Worst dealership ever to deal with and I have brought cars from Merc and Volvo dealers... Travelled 400 miles round trip to look at a car. They made me put a deposit down and now 3 weeks later they are still struggling to refund me even though it has been promised. In the words of the new sales guy Alister when I viewed the car ' we rather sell the car to our own customers than you' .. They now refused to naswr my calls and when they promise to ring me back they haven't... Now you can understand my complaint

“If I could rate this shower in the negative I would....”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Zaktempest on 28/03/2011

If I could rate this shower in the negative I would. This year I bought a Discovery 3 that cost around £18000 from Stratstone in Hull. As the car was being brought in from a sister company (Evans Halshaw)it was sold on the promise that any problems would be put right to the expected Stratstone standard (!).
We arrived on the agreed day to collect the car to find it wasn't ready and had not been valeted. We went away to return the next day.
When we were finally allowed to see the car we found it stank of cigarette smoke and was dirty inside. When we got the car home and we found the dashboard, three door panels and the tailgate were scratched. We called Stratstone and were told to bring it in for an inspection in a few weeks. We took the car on holiday the next week to the Lake District and had the power steering unit fail. We took the car to the nearest dealer, Kentdale (who were superb) who fixed the problem for free!
The next week the handbrake actuator failed, then a seatblet fell to pieces. The car was due for MOT by now and failed on brakes and tyres. According to The Stratstone Quality Promise these items should have been new or nearly new. More worryingly the broken seatbelt passed the MOT. Funnilly enough when the bill was presented for around £600 and we pointed out that the warranty covered this the receptionist nearly shat himself as he hadn't realised it was still under warrantry. By now we had owned the car for four months and had endured Stratstone lies and nonsense again and again.
We'd had enough by this point and got our solicitor involved and got some excellent information to present to Stratstone and they decided to talk about putting the faults right. Two months later after the parts and sales departments had argued about who would pay it was agreed that we would take the car in for a week to be repaired and a loan car would be provided. It was however imperative that the loan car was returned on the Friday as it was booked for another customer, the company would call on Thursday to confirm what time we could collect on Friday. We heard nothing until Tuesday and then were complained at for not returning the car on Friday (ours was not ready until Monday afternoon).
When we collected the car most of the faults had been rectified and we were shown a bill for £2000.
We then told the company that we wanted a further six months warranty and after two months and dozens of phone calls they agreed. It is now the end of March and we are still waiting for the warranty to come through.
Bear in mind were have spent over £30000 with Stratstone over five years and still got treated with utter contempt. The car we bought was not fit for sale, the salesman suggested this was our fault as we had requested that the car be sent over from Evans (we found it on the Stratstone website). We were naive to believe that a car bought blind would be the car promised, a car salesman is a car salesman wether he works fo Arthur Daley or a large national company.
I will never spend another penny with this company and am waiting for the warranty we have never recieved to expire before I send details of this transaction to Pendragon and Landrover.

Stratstone Swansea!! Shockingly terrible. All nice as pie to begin with, promising that should there be any fault what-so-ever then they'd sort it no problem, but as soon as you part with your cash thats it. Watch the warranties with these boys as we were promised full warranty which you'd expect covers pretty much everything. But there are infact two, one Select warranty and an Approved warranty, there is no 'full warranty'. We were given 'select' and found out 2 months later that a problem such as fuel injector was not covered. Cost us a packet! Don't buy from these people

“Bought a Landrover Freelander from Stratstones in...”

written by kevpb on 03/06/2008

Bought a Landrover Freelander from Stratstones in Bury. They promised to repair the scratch on the rear behind the spare wheel but had to agrue between sales ("we will sort it no problem") and servicing ("what do you expect from a used car?") as to who was going to stand for it internally. Finally got it done and believe it or not it washed off in the rain!
Took it back for a re-spray.
A month before the end of the warrenty gota knocking noise at the rear - took it in and had a bracket welded up under the warrenty. One month after warrenty expired knocking appeared again - told no longer under warrenty - they took the car off me for nearly a week - welded bits of the chasis together, put microphones on it but had no idea what the cause was - took the car back from them but had to pay for the inspection and welding or no car back!
Took the car to another Landrover dealer who identifed it as a "known fault" (rear differential) immediately and repaired it with a 25% discount.
Been at Williams ever since and cannot describe the improvement in service and knowledge.
Only a shame that the Landrover is not more reliable!

No main agent should offer such poor customer service. It sounds like its Stratsones loss and Williams gain.
