We Bought A 1994 Model To Tow Our Caravan After Ow

We bought a 1994 model to tow our caravan after owning a 3 door Frontera Sport. They are excellent tow cars with good pulling power. The build quality is good so even if you do buy an oldie, you should have a good workshorse. We had a Range Rover prior to our Fronteras and that was so thirsty on petrol it had to go. By comparison, the Fronteras are a much better ride aswell.

We have been so impressed that we now have a newer 2.2 'facelift' model which is equally as good, although slightly less powered than the older 2.4i.

We Bought Our 2.2dti Frontera New In 2002. It Is

We bought our 2.2DTI Frontera new in 2002. It is our third Frontera and the best so far. The old 2.5TDS had great torque and was quicker but the new engine is more refined and has better mpg. We have taken the car to France on 3 trips and the cabin space is great. The huge boot eats up luggage and boxes of wine on the return. We use the car on the farm for towing and it excells when hitched up. Took two big cows to market and out pulled 2.8 Shogun over the hill. Have recently had new Shogun Warrior out for the weekend and put £35 of fuel through it going nowhere. Freelander is a toy and the Disco is to heavy and slow. Trooper was like the Shogun very thirsty. Pathfinder best option against Frontera but not as good round the bends.

Looking forward to the new model later this year.

I've Got An M Reg 2ltr Sport. Not Amazingly Fast,

I've got an M reg 2ltr sport. Not amazingly fast, but plenty fast enough. If you want performance get an Astra!

Good looking, great fun, and very reliable.

I do all my own servicing - so costs peanuts to run.

Styling is unique, and i'm never gonna get rid of mine. Why would I want to?

To anyone who's maybe looking to get one, do not dally around, get out there and buy one!

Just do all the normal used car checks first... I promise you will not be disappointed!

I Picked Up My P-97 Vauxhall Frontera 2.2 Lwb 4x4

I picked up my P-97 Vauxhall Frontera 2.2 LWB 4x4 with only 64k on the clock for 5k. The body is mint, Spectral Blue paint job (nice colour) when I had this motor I had it fully serviced inc cam belt + rollers, all fluids replaced, new tyres and put a few bits on it to brighten the look up a bit. Done 10k miles when the cam belt snapped @80 on the M27 resulting in totaling a perfectly good engine, I had it recovered and sent to vauxhall for inspection where they told me the belt had not been changed, when I had payed a garage in Birmingham to do all the work for me.

I had a brand new engine and clutch fitted by Vauxhall totaling around £1800.

Since that I have never had any problem with anything on this 4x4, In snow and ice it's pretty useless in RWD but in 4x4 mode the thing is unstopable. The fuel consumption isn't that bad, I fill mine with £55-£60 and get over 400 miles out of a tank and thats without the warning light coming on.

Over all the Frontera isn't the best but it's far from being the worst.

A very good value for money 4x4. If people are going to slate Vauxhall for having a rubbish 4x4 go and buy a 60k Range Rover and compare it with the Porsche 4x4!

I Have An X Reg Vauxhall Frontera, That Hasn't Let

I have an X reg Vauxhall Frontera, that hasn't let me down so far. I had a crash where a guy crashed into the back of my towbar and it stood that. The car is rather good and as I picked mine up for ten grand I am rather pleased with it.

Taste Is Individual But My Vauxhall Frontera 2.0 S

Taste is individual but my Vauxhall Frontera 2.0 Sport 4x4 is great. We tow with it very adequately, have rescued cars from the tide in Cornwall with the 4wd, used it open top on any warm day, and my kids have more leg room than they would get in a limo. When we bought the car I had to sell my husband the benefits as he wanted a BMW, he grudgingly gave in and is now converted. I sold cars for years before having kids and so have a good idea of what reviews the Frontera was getting. This is a multi tasking workhorse, and a very good looking one!

Altogether I Really Like The Look Of My 1997 2.2 V

Altogether i really like the look of my 1997 2.2 Vauxhall Frontera 4x4, but as soon as i picked it up the first thing that struck me was the complete lack of power.

The most worrying thing is when you are at a junction and see a gap that you think you can get out of but cant risk it incase it does its usual and completely loses all power and struggles to even move.

Parts are quite reasonable as we just had the brakes done and that only cost 80 quid!

Overall i like the car but i really wish it had some more power and idled properly and didnt jump between 0.500 and 1500 rpm's.

If i had the choice again i wouldnt buy one but at the moment were stuck with it.

You only need the air flow meter cleaning out and the co resetting. I had the lack of power thing with mine since I had it sorted it's really fast for a big 4x4 with only a 2.2 engine.

Growbag

I've had my 3.2 V6 LWB Limited Edition Auto 51 reg for about 2 years now. Fantastic engine - goes like the clappers, and smooth too. Only criticism of the vehicle is the ominous low banging underneath on bumps that even the Vauxhall garage can't explain!

I've Had A Vauxhall Frontera 2 Door For 5 Years 2.

I've had a Vauxhall frontera 2 door for 5 years 2.0 R reg had no problem with in that time, except a few accidents. It was a strong car until the last hit, now it is scraped. Next day I bought Vauxhall Frontera 2.2RS 2 door 16V. So far so good.
