“Misleading Information Regarding Availability ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Fraze on 10/04/2018

Ordered an item online. Received an email acknowledgment stating someone would be in touch within 3-5 working days to discuss delivery. Turns out item wasn’t in stock but only found out when I rang to chase progress. Delivery will be at least 10-14 days! Obviously Appliance City don’t tell you this as you might order from elsewhere - as I would have done. In fact I saw it cheaper on another website but didn’t order because it wasn’t in stock! This is not the way to do business. I won’t order anything else from them and will active discourage others.

“Dented freezers”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Sdk10 on 07/11/2016

I received 3 freezers in total. My old one was removed on first delivery. The first 2 were dented on one side. I was told the 3rd would be checked before despatch, it wasn't, it was still in the full manufacturer's packaging. It seemed fine when received but now the weather is duller, large shallow indentations are apparent on the front near the top. I'm deeply disappointed. I recommend keeping the old one until you're sure all is acceptable with the replacement. If I had done this, I would have cancelled the purchase for a refund. I believe this damage is mishandling, the shallow debts are hand sized, whether at the suppliers or with couriers is matterless, it's unacceptable.

“Dodgy Company”

★☆☆☆☆

written by KingsleyI on 07/07/2016

I purchased Bosch American Style Fridge from this company after comparing prices online.  Purchased the product and paid online, they will send an email confirming the purchase and will confirm a delivery date and slot. They did not send an invoice apart from the confirmation email. On the assigned day of delivery and time we waited for the product and no delivery was made and when the company was contacted, first they claimed they have delivered. We asked, who delivered and proof, it turns out oh is not been delivered the driver came and no one was available to take delivery. Then we asked where is the product and the response is we have restocked in the warehouse a few hours after delivery was not made.( how possible was that delivery in Grays London and restocking in Nottingham) We are going to deduct £200 pounds and refund money back to your card. Then we asked can we arrange to pick our purchased item, they replied you can not come and pick, you will need to pay for the same product at our warehouse and we refund £200 less your original purchase price. So shoppers watch out for this new trending online schemers, the law will soon catch up on them. They claimed the came to deliver the goods that warrant the deduction of £200 pounds, in a business premises that Amazon, Hermes and other courier company's delivered the same period and it was with their company delivery team, in a premises with CCTV footage of all incoming and outgoing vehicle, a premises with over 10 staffs.

If the order was canceled what's keeping your company from refunding funds back to the account. This is a fraudulent company and is understood they could have been writing positive reviews through their staffs to get good reviews.
Something review centre might want to look into

“Delivery screw up”

★☆☆☆☆

written by lfAnderson401 on 06/05/2016

DO NOT use this company. I needed delivery of 3 appliances worth £1600, on one of two days (Friday or Saturday), and they told me that could be accommodated. I expected a call from the delivery company 24-48 hours before delivery, to confirm morning or afternoon deliver. When I hadn't heard from the delivery company, I contacted them, to be told they only do deliveries on Mondays and Wednesdays! Appliance city lied to me in order to get my business, and when I called to cancel the order they actually said "we will speak to the driver and see if he can deliver it before midnight, say 11pm" - that is still Friday!! Disgraceful.

I am sorry that you were unhappy with the service you received.Having reviewed our recorded conversations, I am confident in saying that we did not lie to you during the sales process. Our sales person quoted a delivery day of Friday or Saturday which was to be confirmed by the delivery company. They were unable to deliver on Friday but did offer alternatives days. Following your complaint, we did arrange for delivery on Friday evening between 7.00 - 8.00pm but you declined this offer and chose to cancel your order.

The delivery company did confirm time of delivery. They told me it was not going to happen on Friday, as the driver wouldn't get to Glasgow until midnight on Friday. The driver told me it would be Monday or Wednesday of the following week. So either the salesperson lied to me about it arriving on Friday, or the driver/delivery company lied to me when saying it would be Monday or Wednesday? Which is it? Your head of logistics told me it "may be with you at midnight on Friday. That is still Friday". What kind of customer service is that!!

“Appalling aftercare”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Nishaj on 29/03/2016

I bought a Fisher & Paykal range over a year ago to replace my old Galaxy and have had problems from day one! I experienced one issue with the Galaxy in over 12 years which is why I went for F&P again. F&P have visited so many times but are unable to fix the ignition issues. I turned to Appliance City to work with their partner to replace the cooker but they have just stopped responding to emails. You may save pennies by shopping online but in the long run it is not worth it. Appliance City's aftercare is shocking!

“Utterly useless”

★☆☆☆☆

written by KAAH on 10/03/2016

Ordered a washing machine from this site. Chose a date for delivery and had an email from the company agreeing the date. Took the day off to receive it but the machine didn't come on that day and it took three phone calls to find out why. The company and the delivery firm were blaming each other. Was then promised that it would arrive before 7.30am on the following day. Again no washing machine. Complete waste of time. Don't bother!

“Do anything for you when spending £3k. Shocking...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Ootobea on 29/01/2016

Decided to go with Appliance City when ordering 5 AEG products and 1 Franke Tap. They were happy to reduce prices to come almost in line (difference of £60) with another company, but due to their years of experience in the industry and generally good reviews, I thought it was worth paying the extra. Products arrived in time, as agreed, but due to the kitchen fitters coming 3 weeks after the arrival of the goods, it took me outside there 14 day returns guidelines. It was only then that I realised I had ordered the wrong size AEG hood. I contacted customer services and was told that there would be a £75.00 returns fee and I would have to pay full price (an extra £84.00) on a smaller sized hood than the one originally ordered (as they reduced the price of the original one as part of a multibuy). I asked if they were happy to do a straight exchange, but they said that they couldn't as the box had been opened (literally tape removed to prove that the hood had not been touched), as it would now be classed as a second hand product. They were not even happy to price match against other companies for the exact same hood that I was looking to replace, as I quote "what is the point on us making £15 profit on a product". Awful, awful aftersales and they genuinely do not care about you once they have had the money. I would strongly advise using another company.

“terrible delivery, intimidated on my own doorstep, use...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by grutherford on 29/01/2016

Ordered a 79cm wide fisher paykel fridge freezer for £1150. I have a first floor flat so I rang up to check the measurements and weight to check if it would fit upstairs - guy on the phone said they can’t guarantee first floor delivery and will assess on site “if it’s safe” but they have taken the same model up to first floors many times and should be fine. He said I can pay for premium delivery and this means a 2 man team and they will remove doors and fit back on in room of your choice. The doors off reduced weight from 102kg to 80kg and meant it would fit easily through doors so I paid for this I check all measurements and he asked how many steps I had – I said 15, he said that should be fine. The guys turned up – opened the door and one (in charge) said nah no way – can’t take it up there. I politely asked why as I’d enquired on the phone and he said “too many steps” then said its 102kg. I explained I’d paid for premium delivery so with the doors off it will be 80kg which is the same as a person and he said “no but its still 102kg” I didn’t follow this as it would be 80kg but anyway. I said I understood that if it was deemed unsafe it wouldn’t be taken up but I had confirmed the exact number of steps and he was saying that was the reason. He then went onto say they did first floor deliveries and “you know if it was 3 or 4 steps that would be fine, but its 15 steps” (err what how do you get a first floor flat with 4 steps?). I’d rather they just told me on the phone there was no chance. At this point I asked if I could speak to the salesperson to confirm what was agreed on the phone – he phoned – spoke to the guy then hung up without allowing me to speak, he said I couldn’t use the work phone. The other guy then suggests it could be taken up and suggests just going ahead so they could get done – at this point the first guy starts stomping about aggressively like a caged animal then storms off into the van and shuts the door. The other guys still standing there and doesn’t want to approach him, so I’m left to walk up to this guy in a child’s strop and gently ask him what’s happening – I’ve now given up on them lifting the fridge and am just asking them to remove the door so I can get a friend to help me up (I paid extra for premium delivery where they agree to remove doors). He’s now shouting that it’s now a normal front door delivery and they won’t be removing doors all in a very intimidating manor. I have to phone up sale guy again to mediate the delivery driver out of his strop and into removing the doors. I stay upstairs in the flat as I don’t feel safe down stairs and eventually they are trying to take the doors off top one comes off and I take all the shelves upstairs. The bottom one has a different fitting and they don’t have the tool- I see them trying to undo it with a screwdriver in a square screw fitment and ask them to stop as they damaged it – so he says to me he’ll just have to leave it like that. I now have a half dismantled fridge outside and I don’t have the tool either – I’m asking so what the solution – he barks at me “well what do you expect me to do I don’t have the tool, I’m leaving it”. Back on the phone to the salesperson and they then go out to buy the tool, finally I have a dismantled fridge outside after several hours and get a friend to help me up the stairs with it [was very easy to lift by the way for two normal sized adults). Nice to spend so much money and feel threatened and intimidated on your own doorstep and waste 3 hours of your day. Got a washing machine and dishwasher delivered by ao.com the next day and they shook my hand greeted me in a friendly manor and carefully took them up the stairs in less than 10 mins. They use their own delivery drivers btw not a courier

“Worst Customer Service”

written by yrKirkland166 on 10/12/2015

Stay away. I wanted to order an american firdge freezer but these guys do not go up stairs even if you pay them. A pretty important thing when your buying heavy goods. Man on the other end of the phone said 'would you do it'. I thought this was unproffesional and very disrespectful to the customer.

“fridge freezer cash back”

written by allaalla on 17/11/2015

I bought 2 Fridge Freezers from Appliance City and the price was right but included having to apply for cashback once delivered. I will not get the 40 minutes of my life back and what a palaver, as if any of us have time for this joke. Why not just pay less and now I have put all our bank details and address etc on line which I did not really want to do. I will never use them again.

“Terrible service ”

written by nickldn on 12/05/2015

Be careful of these people, I've placed an order for a number of appliances for a kitchen refit. A day and a half before the delivery I get a call to say one of the items is no longer available - but they did manage to take my money for it. I now have to find a replacement and delay the fitters. I would normally have cancelled the entire order and gone to a more reputable firm but its too late and I have to deal with these people. Spoken to the management who frankly didn't seem to care but " would take my feedback on-board" which is nice to know......

“Worst company I've ever dealt with, avoid!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by AHJH on 06/10/2014

I would having given them no stars if available the service has been that bad.Bought a Samsung American fridge freezer and LG tumble dryer from them and both are faulty. Say they will arrange collection and then want it to jump through an increasing series of hoops before they can. I fully believe they never intend to collect anything . Also try to convince you that your contract is with the manufacturer of the items and you need to take it up with them.'it isn't it's them that has this your contract is with them. Im registered disabled and quite ill and they don't care. Had to contact a solicitor for advice and begin a charge back through the bank but I've still got these items sat in my home preventing me from getting replacements. Also note that if they do the same to you legally you do not have to return faulty goods if they want them back they must collect, don't let them convince you you've got to send them back, you haven't and your still entitled to a refund. Avoid this company at all cost and if you don't make sure you pay using a credit card as it gives you more protection

Appcity's Response to AHJH's Review

I was sorry to hear that you were not satisfied with your recent purchase. As we have discussed with you on several occasions, we have no problem in collecting the goods and issuing a full refund. All we have asked is that an engineer attend to verify your claim that the goods are unsafe. Unfortunately you have refused to accept this. As a reputable company, we always fully adhere to our responsibilities under the sales of goods act and our position on this have been confirmed as correct by Trading Standards. This matter could have been settled by now if you had agreed to an engineer visit. I do hope we are still able to arrange this in order to conclude the matter without further delay.

Your comment is a joke, the engineer is just the last in a series of hoops. The items have several faults anyone of which would be cause to return them the cosmetic ones alone are sufficient and you don't need an engineer to confirm something has a hole in the back. We have also spoken to trading standards and a solicitor both of whom have advised us we have every right to ask for a refund and that the faulty goods be removed and cancel the contract. Which we have done so many times it is ridiculous. We are not prepared to have new items repaired we paid for perfect goods and informed you in less than 24 hours that there was a problem, your first suggestion it's our kitchen floor put the fridge on carpet , then when it was obvious that some thing needed to be done you gave us the choice of an engineer or to send photographs, we chose photographs as the lady of the house is very ill and finds strangers in the house distressing. The photographs were sent at some inconvenience having to drive several miles to get an internet connection as we had just moved into the house and had no phone etc, but once you had the photographs you said you wanted an engineer from Samsung as our contact was with them not you which is a lie and you that you did not have any facility to collect goods and the list goes on!
At the end of the day my review is there to inform people of our experience with your company it is based on the truth and nothing you say here can change our experience, unless of course you are finally going to provide the customer service you initially promised!

“Very bad service, delivery when they decided ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by KendraMcBride471 on 06/09/2014

I bought an appliance from appliance city, and all I can say is that from beginning to the end the service was not professional at all. After I had done the order, he took them 1 week to accept it because of a matching bank and card holder, a story that should never happen as they already got the money. Obviously, for a problem of money you receive mail an phone call but as soon as the problem was solved, impossible to join them or get any answer by mail or by phone. Then regarding the delivery another thing. As they use a carrier to do the delivery, as soon as they give the appliance to them, they don't care anymore and don't follow your order anymore. It took to the carrier 2 weeks to deliver the appliances, because they do the delivery whenever they want. And don't try to contact them too, you will never rich them. Believe me don't trust them and don't order your appliance from there you will be very disappointed. It is just a really bad service, with unprofessional people that don't have respect for clients and just looking for money. REALLY BE CARFUL

“Think twice before buying - extremly poor customer...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 07/01/2014

I purchased a Neff built in oven costing over £800 The oven was delivered on the morning of 20th December. I cannot fault the delivery. The oven was fitted and before I had even got to use it, it stopped working. I telephoned immediately and was reassured I would receive a phonecall back but you've guessed it - no call. I phoned again and was told by the manager that he would not be leaving until everything was sorted but again no phonecall back. I telephoned the following day and requested a replacement as the oven was not fit for purpose. I was told this was not possible and that a Neff engineer would visit on 23rd December to confirm a fault. I was told that if a part was needed it would be after christmas and if I rejected a repair a replacement would again be after Christmas. No apology or empathy no customer care. The programmer on the oven was faulty and replaced. However 2 weeks on the oven has developed another fault and guess what, a Neff engineer has to visit. I have been told that if a replacement oven is requested I will have to pay the cost again for the connection of a replacment oven. I find this unacceptable that I am expected to pay over £100 for the disconnection of a faulty oven and the cost of refitting a replacement. I have now requested a full refund and have been told this is not possible so watch this space!! Buyers beware of using this company. I chose to buy from this local company but never again I'll stick to the multi-nationals in future.

“Poor Service & Product Delivery”

written by Lindgren on 07/12/2013

Booked date on web website but was then told it would have to be a day later. Dishwasher arrived on time but was missing installation kit, manual and user manual. Still waiting for them. Customer services polite and helpful on phone but follow up poor.  Update: I have now received the missing parts. However, no-one from Appliance City has been in contact to make sure that I did receive them or to sort out the dent in the dishwasher.

Whilst I have not bought Smeg appliances from this company, on both occasions when I have purchased other brand appliances they have arrived within the packaging which they remove when they are delivered so that you can check that the goods are not damaged in any way. I have found them very helpful and efficient and would not hesitate to buy from them again as and when the need arises.
