"oh It's A Dogs Life", For The Lucky Ones Anyway!!!!

We travel abroad twice or three times a year and each time our "boys", all four of them, go on their holidays to Lawersbridge. They know where their going and it's tails wagging the minute they get there. They get the best of care and attention. Staff are so very friendly and have put the boys and us at ease from the very first visit several years ago now.

we have recommended them to many of our friends and in turn they have recommended them to others.

Kennels are spacious, clean and the exercise yard is brilliant for them.

Our boys are very important to us and it's a great relief to know we have found Lawersbridge.

Thanks again, Sandra and Barry Gorman.

Happy Healthy Dogs

I have two old dogs who love to be at home and have previously came home from other kennels hoarse, stressed and unhappy.

They love Lawersbridge and are not stressed or unhappy staying there. Crawford, the owner looks after them well and they get plenty of exercise.

The kennels are very clean and the dogs, who board together, have lots of space as the kennels are very large. The dogs get out for walks and this is good. Heating is available at a small extra charge.

Very reasonable rates and I would recommend these kennels to everyone.

Excellent Care At Lawersbridge

Our two Great Danes have enjoyed their holidays in these kennels for over 4 years now. They jump out the car & never hesitate to go with Crawford the owner. The kennels are clean & tidy and the boys also get outside to play regularly. They get fed twice a day & these kennels keep them to their routine. One of our dogs has been on 16 pills a day and there has never been any trouble for these to be given to him. I would certainly recommend these kennels to all dog lovers.

Super Kennels Where Dogs Are Well Looked After.

Lawersbridge dog boarding kennels in Crosshands, Ayrshire are an excellent place to leave your dog when you are off on your holiday's. The council kennels inspector uses Lawersbridge Kennels for his own dog and that is someone who visits every dog boarding kennels in East Ayrshire, so if it is good enough for his dog...

The staff are very friendly and knowledgable and when you first arrive they ask about your dog's likes and dislikes, food, games, amount of exercise, etc. You can leave your dog in good hands knowing that they will be very well looked after, so you have peace of mind and one less worry when you are sunning yourself on the beach.

The large kennel area have heating and are cleaned to a very high standard, if you have any doubts before boarding your dog here you can make an appointment to visit and have a good look around the facilities to see for yourself the excellent conditions that your dog will enjoy. The prices are very reasonable compared to other local boarding kennels and they will even dispence any medication you dog need at no extra cost.

Health And Safety Issue For Dogs Prevent Recomendation.

Sadly I find myself after many years of using this kennel issuing a recommendation that at present pet owners avoid this establishment.

My dog was boarded there on 25/02/2012 to 27/02/2012.On collecting my dog I was asked whether he had a limp when he arrived at the kennels.Obviously he had not.No responsible dog owner would board their dog if it was not in good health.

Two hours after collection the dog was at the local vet.He had injured himself during his stay at the kennel which has led to months of vet care ,the amputation of a toe and a fusion operation at the Glasgow Vet School. This involved a bone graft from his shoulder and a steel plate secured by thirteen screws. He is still attending the vet.The next appointment being 02/07/2012.The report from the kennels insurance company states he must have tripped over his own feet !!.Both the vets and the Vet School dispute this. The surgeon compared the injury to a dog being thrown over a cliff.Neither the insurance company (NFU)or the kennels have taken veterinary advice or even inspected the dog.

I know that there are stone steeps down to the yard that land on a concrete area.I cannot comment on any other areas. The severity of the injury would indicate that it must have been witnessed by a member of staff.

The kennels are aware of the ongoing saga but have not once contacted us re the dogs condition.Sadly the dog will be lame for the rest of his life.

Until the integrity of the kennels insurance policy is verified and found to be suitable and the health and safety issues addressed preventing another catastrophic injury to a dog in their care I can only advise dog owners to look elsewhere.

Once again I am very disappointed with Mr.Smith's apparent total lack of interest in this matter.

I feel we must respond to this very misleading review. Our kennel business has been running for over six years now without any complaint of this nature. We have very many satisfied repeat customers. Mr.M.(name withheld) was one of these until the sad injury to his dog.

It is correct that the dog had a limp when he was collected and as dog owners ourselves, we are saddened this injury has turned out to be so serious.

However, it is simply untrue that we are not interested in this matter. We had no inkling that the limp had required any treatment until about three weeks after the dog was collected when Mr.M.(name withheld) contacted us requesting details of our insurance company. He explained that he wished to recover the vet fees for which he had not arranged any insurance personally. He was at pains during that discussion to explain that he was not holding us liable for the injury. We informed him of our insurer and counter-signed a claim form once he had completed it. We then heard no more about the matter and assumed the dog had recovered until the above review was brought to our attention on 3rd July 2012 - more than four months after the dog had been collected.

Mr.M.(name withheld) states that the severity of the injury indicates that it must have been witnessed by a member of staff. This proposition is illogical. There are thousands of severe accidents to people, animals and motor vehicles every year which are not witnessed. All the dogs in our care are fully enclosed twenty four hours a day but this does not mean a member of staff is watching each dog all the time. I do not know of any kennels where that level of service would be provided and the cost of such provision would be commercially unacceptable to any customer I can think of! It is also worth pointing out that supervision itself would not have prevented the injury - it would merely have established how the injury took place.

The "integrity" of our insurance policy does not need verification. It is arranged with a reputable insurer in standard terms for a business such as ours. Mr.M.(name withheld) seems to misunderstand the nature of that insurance. We are insured against negligence claims. As he has not been able to demonstrate any negligence on our part, the insurers are declining to pay him. He seems to feel that we should have some kind of "no-fault" cover for veterinary fees, although he does not have any such policy himself.

It is quite misleading for him to suggest that there are "health and safety issues". The kennels are inspected on a regular basis by East Ayrshire Council in the normal course of our business. Nobody, including Mr.M. (name withheld) himself, has ever identified to us any specific risk which requires to be addressed. I can assure anyone reading this review that if we knew of any "health and safety issue", appropriate repairs would already be under consideration.

Since this review was written the owners (name removed) have visited us to discuss this review. They were unaware of the on going saga and had not been updated by the NFU on what was happening. From our correspondence with the insurers we were led to believe that they had made further enquiries at the kennels. It appears that the NFU had made no further enquiries. They have stated that veterinary opinion is just that --an opinion.

I now have written evidence from the veterinary surgeon at Glasgow University Vet School who operated on the dog which should help all concerned.I appreciated (name removed) apology for not being in touch re the dog.He has also stated that we may never know the truth about what happened that day in the kennel.

They have undertaken action to try and resolve this situation which is appreciated.

Awesome Kennels - My Dogs Love It

I have 2 Labradors who I treat as my babies so as you can understand leaving them is a job I don't like doing!! I have used various kennels before and the dogs have come home unhappy until we found Lawersbridge. I was going on Holiday and flying from prestwick so thought putting the dogs into Lawersbridge would be handy. I was nervous as it would be the longest i'd ever left them before but I really had no need to worry. Firstly the gentleman offered to meet us at 6am to drop the dogs off and this wasn't a bother to him at all, we were shown the lovely warm kennels the dogs would be living in and assured they would get outdoor walks and pleanty of attention.

When we went back to pick the dogs up the daughter who was extremely friendly was there to greet us, she brought the dogs out to us who seemed to have so much fun I dont think they wanted to come home!! I was immediatley put at ease and could tell they had been looked after well. Unfortunatley the kennels are a 2 1/2 hour drive away from my house but I loved them so much we are using them again and I doubt I'll ever use a different kennel again for my boys. We even got a lovely Christmas Card from them which I thought was a great personal touch. I'd highly reccomend them to anyone who asked and I wouldnt doubt for one minute that your pets would be well looked after here!!

Hamish Loves Going On His Holidays To Lawersbridge Kennels!

We have a Scottish terrier, Hamish, and he has been going to these kennels since he was a pup. At first he stayed for one night at their recommendation and then we built it up to a weeks stay. He is now 4yrs and gets excited when we mention the kennels or drive near them! Hamish has stayed at the kennels on a number of nights ranging from one night up to our two week break and at various times of the year.

When we take him there he wags his tale and runs after the other dogs, if he didn't want to go I'm sure he wouldn't get out the car! He is well cared for and always comes home in good condition.

We, like most dog owners love our dog to bits and would not send him if he wasn't looked after well and it's never a problem when we make special requests towards his care. We would recommend you visit the kennels before taking your dog but we have no problems recommending them.

Dogs Have No Access To The Outside, This Can Only

Dogs have no access to the outside, this can only happen when the staff take them. Individual dogs are put into a boring concrete yard. The only heating is from a heat bulb even in winter.Only one person around so I am not sure that dogs get very much individual time. Some of the dogs I saw had spilled their water and their bowls were empty, no fixed raised bowls which would eliminate this problem

Jasper & Finlay My 2 Siberian Huskies Are Kenneled

Jasper & Finlay my 2 siberian huskies are kenneled here whenever I'm away. Crawford and his family treat the dogs as their own and always have a warm welcome when they get dropped off. They are looked after well and get walked every day (a lot of kennels wouldn't walk them due to their size & breed. I would highly recommend them. Amanda
