Husqvarna Wre 125 Review
I own the husqvarna wre 125, 2005 model, with a 28 milimetre carburetor . My bike came with the standard exhaust when I bought it and supposedly had 5000 miles on the clock. I always warm it up for 5/ 6 minutes then ride slowly for a few miles and so far the bike has been brilliant. It cruises at 60 mph easily, I covered 180 miles in four hours on it at 67 miles per gallon. It has an auto lubrication pump and tank under the seat, with a very easy and fast to undo clip to get to. The gearbox is brilliant, it feels very well put together, especially compared to some other 125's out there. The engine has a powervalve servo with two cables which opens two valves at the exhaust port, at 7000 revs or so this opens the bike simply shoots off as two strokes do. Top speed was around 80 mph with the standard exhaust and gearing, 0 to 60 was about 8 seconds. The bike has two radiators, and although one developed a leak [ the bike was 7 years old by then] it was easy and simple to replace it. The standard exhaust did also break at the front one night so I bought a full DEP system for it. Now the bike hits 60 in under 6 seconds and will hit 90 [verified by zzr600 following] and thats with a slightly increased gearing. Always use fully synthetic oil and warm it up before riding, these bikes are a blast and can keep up with ktm exc's. Off road the front wheel lifts in 2nd under power and pulls up hills easily. I've hit 60 mph in third gear up a hill :D I haven't tried it on a motocross track but it will easily get to places other bikes wouldn't as it is very similar to the full enduro wr 125 version. The only difference is ignition timing, carb size and porting. My bike gets about 40 miles per gallon, or 4.5 litres averagely, rising to 45 on longer cruises,. but that's doing 50/60 plus. It is easy to run on the road too simply because of the oil tank pumping oil to the engine rather than having to pour in and measure premix at the petrol station. If you hate speed bumps, this will make them feel almost non existent, due to the upside down forks and long suspension travel on the back. And finally, being a two stroke EVERYONE looks at you when they hear you coming, especially with the dep at 12000 revs, it really does make a snap snap noise like a two stroke motocross bike when it echoes. Don't bother with ktm exc costing 6 grand new, get a husky wre for £4000. You won't regret it.
