My vehicle broke down at my home, I called up on the day & paid for the policy after the woman told me if they can't fix it they will take it to the nearest garage. The recovery van turned up and had a look at the vehicle but realised it would need to be taken to the garage for a fix, but told me he can't take the vehicle because recovery is not on my policy. Just paid AA £150 deposit + £16 monthly fee when I could have just paid the recovery company £100 to pick up the vehicle and take it to the garage. Will never recommend these guys to anyone

opened a new policy last year, I received no mail, phone call, email or text to remind me of the renewal and automatically took out 125.00 for a renewal. I am still trying to work out how it was done, as my bank card had only been changed a month before and the number changed. On telephoning to make sure that the policy had been cancelled I was told I would receive a full payment back into my bank within 24 hours, have phoned 3 times again this week as no payment has gone in and told the same storey time after time I am now taking this to the omnisbusman

I took their European Breakdown Cover on the 6th June it would have started on the 8th only. As they kept on repeating that the car needs to be serviced it clicked with me that the cover they are selling is not existent. I cancelled before it even started on the 7th well within the statutory cooling off period. Guess what 14 days have passed and they still have not refunded my credit card. DO NOT TRUST THESE GUYS WITH YOUR MONEY you will regret.

Was driving on dual carriageway when car started making a horrible rattling noise. Had to carry on for a couple of miles to get phone signal and called the breakdown number. I got a very polite lady on phone and after explaining where we were and that I had my 11 year old son with me who got out of hospital that day after an operation she told us someone would be out within the hour. Less than an hour later a breakdown van arrived and diagnosed the problem very quickly.a crankshaft pulley damper was the cause and couldn't be fixed roadside. The mechanic told us to sit in our car while he organised recovery.a short time later he came to tell us a recovery truck would be with us in a few minutes. After arriving the driver got car onto truck and strapped down risking life and limb as we were in a lay-by on busy dual carriageway. He then drove us all to our home village which was 150 miles away in the far north of Scotland. A great service all round.

Terrible service. Have just left my son stranded in the middle of the night and having to walk home after misdiagnosing the problem in his car!! What can I say other than very disappointing. Would never recommend this company!!!

This is the second time I have had to use this service and from the initial breakdown to recovery was only 20 mins. I was stranded on a motorway and was given great safety advice and the recovery guy was excellent. I would recommend this breakdown cover to everyone and I have peace of mind driving knowing that I will be in safe hands if anything goes wrong with my car again. Great customer service.

Considering the cheap price of the cover I wasn't expecting miracles when I took this out, however, I have been proven wrong ! I was parked on my gym car park and my car refused to start. I called through to the Breakdown Line and spoke to a lovely man who took all the relevant details and advised all attendances aim to be within 90 minutes however they'd be there as soon as possible. Although I was by myself and it was 8.30 at night and freezing, I could wait inside the gym so it wasn't the most extreme of situations - I therefore expected to be in for the long haul Mechanic called me at 9pm (25 mins after first notification) and advised he was 10 minutes away. He then arrived as promised 10 minutes later. As I fit the stereotype of blonde women, he had very little to go on regarding what the issue was however diagnosed the battery within seconds and got my car working within minutes For me the most reassuring part of the service was that the mechanic genuinely didn't seem to mind my inane questions about what I did next (as the car had a 50/50 chance of working the next morning) and he gave me realistic advice rather than patter about the most expensive option. Really pleased with the service here, and it's definitely value for money.

Purchased Full cover to include home start. Had to phone them at 18.50 on a Saturday night to say my windscreen wipers have stopped working, probably just a fuse but I haven't got a spare and nowhere to purchase one at this time of night. They won't come out because it's not raining! I have to be at working early Sunday morning so if it's raining in stuffed, they won't even come out to me then - I have to be roadside - so to get roadside I have illegally drive! Why pay for home cover if they won't come out to my home address. I will never use this company again atrocious service!

Called last week and got a most unfriendly young lady who despite explaining TWICE that I wanted to pay by monthly Direct Debit, still went to put the payment through as a one off annual. Today I received the paperwork adress to the wrong 1st name AND surname (if you can't spell, please ask... I don't find other people have a problem spelling my name). I called them back to amend and tell them the mistakes and got a young man who kept talking over me instead of listening (do they have ANY customer service training??). The young man made a few feeble excuses before having to go and ask his 'team leader'. There was nothing they could do to now stop my payment of £70 leaving my account and suggested I cancelled it with my bank (more inconvenience accumulating by the minute!). I suggested that if the customer service I had experienced was anything to go by, I would prefer to cancel the policy; though still have to wait for a week for them to reimburse me. I shall be paying the few extra pounds and taking my business to a more reputable company. If you DO decide to go with Asda Breakdown, I wish you the best of luck!

This is my first time using ASDA breakdown cover and its the best cover I've used so far. The man on the phone answered within seconds and was polite and patient (seeing as I know very little about cars) and seemed very caring about the situation. I am aware this is his job however this seemed genuine. He gave all the relevant information and said help would be there within the hour. Within 25 minutes the mechanic arrived, fixed the problem within ten minuets and was a pleasure to meet. Would recommend to others as both gentlemen saved my night and my car and made me feel reassured about the situation even in a storm!

I've been with the AA for about twenty five years, but trying to save money I opted for asda breakdown and recoveryservice, well tonite I telephoned them to say my headlight had blow, I was thirty miles from home, and the asda breakdown ooperator said they breakdown teams dont carry light bulbs, I told him that was ridiculous and was threatening to cancel my membership and go back with the AA well he had me hanging on the phone for ten minutes obviously hoping I would hang up, anyway he eventually came back on the phone saying someone would come to my assistance in an hour or so, and he might have or able to obtain a headlight bulb, Asda breakdown service, terrible service, they are only interested in towing you to you destination

My car handbrake had failed to hold and my car had rolled towards a ditch and one of the cars wheel had gone over the edge of the ditch whilst out for a walk with my mum and dogs, I could not get any traction to get out.Asda said it was an insurance job !!!!!! It cost me £120 to have another break down recovery vehicle take just a few minutes to get me back on the road. It was stressfull enough to see my car in that position but Asdas response is shocking and I'll never return to them.

We took our car abroad to France and Italy this Summer. The car had just had a full service and we had driven abroad in the Peurgot 206 several times without any problem. However one of the headlight bulbs went in Italy and we didn't have a spare. Also we had a loud vibrating noise when we went over bumps. We phoned Asda who recommended a garage. We never did find the one they suggested but we found one ourselves got the light fixed and found the rattling noise was the spare wheel! Several times Asada checked we were ok and ready to continue our journey. Several days later towards the end of our holiday the driver seat belt went followed by the clutch half an hour later! Help!! We managed to pull in to a garage (closed) and phoned Asda as we could not continue our journey. We were camping and had all our camping gear in the car. The nearest hotel was 4* far too expensive for us. The breakdown arrived. It was Saturday night. The breakdown guy very kindly too us to the campsite and the car went to the garage several miles away. On Monday we hadn't heard from the garage so we visited it by bus as Asda said we had to sign a paper there. The cost of repairing the car was so high that they agreed to tow the car back to the Uk and send us home by taxi, plane and train. We only had to pay for a receipt at the garage. Asda were great and looked after us all the way home. The car was towed to my garage at home and is now mended. Thanks to Asda. I would certainly recommend them to anyone. (European Cover)

Broke down and phoned the operator, she said a recovery vehicle would attend within one hour. Then phoned me back to say eta one hour thirty minutes. The recovery vehicle arrived after one hour fifty minutes and he didn’t even apologise! Pay less for a poor service, I should have realised. I wont be renewing my policy that’s for sure

I have used the Asda breakdown service twice. On the first occasion, I was left in a dangerous situation on a dual carriageway, with a recovery estimate of two hours. Thankfully a passing RAC patrolman towed me to a place of safety and contacted Brittania Rescue to let them know where I was. When the recovery agent finally arrived they made no attempt to diagnose the problem but recovered the vehicle, however when we arrived at the garage i discovered he had lowered the drivers side electric window and had no jump leads or pack with him, so struggled to get the window to close and was unable to lock the vehicle properly. On the second occasion I faired a little better, only one hour to arrive, but no equipment to work on my car, recovery to a local garage only, with a £67 surcharge to be recovered to my garage of choice. Hire car took 5 hours to arrive so lost a days work, and of course pay. In summary you get what you pay for, this is a bargain basement service at a bargain basement price. Having no recovery service of their own they simply "farm out" the recovery work to local recovery agents, presumably the cheapest they can find, and the service you recieve reflects this. My advice pay a little more and get professional service, such as the RAC, and get the peace of mind of knowing you have a rcovery service you can rely on. Frankly i'm suprised that Asda would want their brand associated with such a poor service.

First and last time we called them out, instantly had no faith in the mechanic/recovery man when he starts tapping the engine with a large Philips screw driver. He eventually towed me home telling me it was a fuel pump, only to be told and fixed by my neighbour that it was a simple fuse found next to the engine and that should of been checked as a standard procedure! I decided to buy a new car and cancelled my policy as i was getting free breakdown for a year. I asked twice on the call will i receive my month payment back because it has just gone out the bank. I never received it! When i phoned to question this they said the cover was not getting cancelled until the month later!!!! why would i have breakdown for a car i no longer own! i would make that clear when cancelling. To me they got a FREE extra month off me! someone 'supposed' to have listened to the call, there email said 'customer service' did not say the money will go back in. So why did they not make this clear! surely you pay in advance for the month ahead for breakdown, i should receive that month back as i no longer needed, wanted or required breakdown. So why should i pay for breakdown when i was getting free with a new car? Amazing!

I bought this cover for the first ever time due to the price and as Asda have always provided good customer service however associating themselves with Brittania Rescue is bad for their reputation! We had to request home start on two occasions, the first time they didn't provide us with the service as it wasn't covered, the second time they sent a recovery vehicle which was not equipped adequately and left without sorting the problem. Complaining got nowhere, never again! I will be spending more money on a reliable company!
