BitDefender Antivirus 2008

Full of bugs and totally unstable. Wrecks your computer.

There is absolutely nothing I like about Bitdefender internet security. Nothing works and all you end up doing is ringing the helpline and uninstalling and re-installing over and over again. Following my 8th install I have now removed it and will never try it again

This product is thoroughly dangerous to computers. If you are running a business or have much to lose on your P.C. I recommend that you do not consider this product, or like me your business will go under while you are trying to get it to work, or clearing up the mess it leaves behind.

Still trying to get my money back. Furious with Which magazine for rating this product top. If I had done a search for Bitdefender problems instead of reading the reviews before buying I would never have bought it. The forums are full of people who are experiencing exactly the same problems that I am. My question is; did Bitdefender pay Which Magizine to present them as the best? Definately a scam I will never trust Which again

BitDefender usually ran fairly quietly in the background, but occasionally started hogging resources like nothing else. It also took up ridiculous amounts of space on my hard drive. Detected most threats nicely, but in the end I got rid of it because I just didn't have enough space on my hard disk for all its updates.

Bitdefender is my best antivirus software it really catches all the viruses and keeps my computer clean. i recommend this sofware to all of my friends.

I downloaded the free trial of bit defender antivirus 2009 and was impressed how easy this was and then decided to purchase the package for a year.

After that it was a pain in the neck. Even though automatic updates were enabled it kept telling me it was out of date and had to be manually updated and scanned and you could not get on with your work whilst you were doing this.

After approximately 10 months and dispite being constantly updated my computor was infected by a trojan horse virus which cost me a lot of time and money to get rid of. I have now had to spend weeks reprogramming my computor.

I am now trying AVG but would not touch bit defender again with a barge pole!!!!!

Low usage of computer - very short scan time compared with the AVG free that I uninstalled, which took 3 hrs+ I had thought that it removed all cookies, but was told only those which were a threat, therefore there is a need for other products such as Ccleaner to clear all temporary files and cookies from your system. Otherwise easy to use and works quietly in the background. After working fine for a week, with automatic updates scheduled I was unable to update at all. The downloads only went up to 25% of download and then stopped. Irritating warning messages for me to update and could not. Support team were unable to sort this out for me and after 10 days without any updates I uninstalled BitDefender. It is important to clear the registry and to download BitDefenders Uninstaller to completly clear out the old programme. Even though I had only had my subscription for 2 weeks I was informed there was a newer version, which I downloaded and installed. Updates were then received, but owing to the lack of support and non reply to emails I have asked for a refund. The other irritating feature is in Outlook Express where spam is monitored, this delays the receipt of even safe mail and displays yet another toolbar. There doesn't seem to be a way of switching this feature off.. Very disappointed with the outcome as all the reviews of this product was excellent. But with the non-existent FREE support I found it hard to continue with BitDefender. Many people were having the same problems - see BD Forums. Pity that Customer Care has let this otherwise easy to use, hopefully efficient internet security AV down.

Good at blocking most viruses etc.

Has a game mode which doesn't interfere when LANing.

Doesn't impact the system much at all.

Updates quietly.

Good alround package which I can highly recommend.

Extra-ordinary protection for viruses,trojans and other infections, multi featured including PARENTAL CONTROL IDENTITY CONTROL and REGISTRY CLEANER.

As whole I will say if you are using DSL or BROADBAND connections you have none better options to install other then BIT DEFENDER TOTAL SECURITY 2009.

For dial-up use NOD32 or AVG 8, well recommend BitDefender Antivirus 2008.

Protects against 99.9 % of viruses out there whether they are new or old .. you know your one step ahead with hourly updates. It installs perfectly fine, very low on system resources once its in the memory it loads very fast. Fast scanning the 2009 version is even better, fastest in the industry after the first scan.

User friendly.

One the best Antivirus suites on the market closest competitor? Kaspersky perhaps, but it does not require a scientist to use or understand.

I have loaded the TRIAL version for 30 days. I used it for some time and decided to remove it, I could not do it because I did not have previleges to do it even tough I am ADMINISTRATOR of the machine. I had to reformat as I couldnt find out how to get rid of it...

BEWARE its a good kit of software but youre kind of stuck with them once you decide to load their software. Therefore I do not recommend BitDefender Antivirus 2008.

Detects all viruses. Its not deleting the viruses, but just blocking them. Would still argue one of the best however.
