TAM Linhas

TAM sold me a ticket in Manaus advising it would be fully refundable. When I asked for my refund I was told the ticket would not be refundable. I was passed to three different call centres on three different continents.

Eventually they back-tracked and confirmed the ticket would be refunded. This was four weeks ago.

To date I am still waiting for the money and no-one has replied to my MANY enquiries as to where my money is.

These people do not care. Avoid at all cost!

I fly every other week on TAM. Rarely is there a delay. Staff are courteous and international service is good, especially in business class. Domestic Brazil is a little cramped but this is normal on the american continent and frankly much better than the US based airlines. I am also a fan of the modern fleet

Avoid this Airline at any cost.

1) After the flight was delayed more than 5 hours, my plane took off while on the board was "Embarque Próxima".

2) My luggage made it to destination while I was still in Sao Paulo.

3) They canceled my return flight because I lost the first one.

4) I've been told that I have to pay (BR$1,700) for a latter flight which was second day from different airport. I bought another ticket (BR$600) with Passaredo.

P.S. Also, as was mentioned by another poster before, some short reviews with very high evaluations appearing on this site are most likely written by TAM themselves as they are known to do so in Brazil. Avoid this airline at all cost.

I am Brazilian and I am ashamed that this is the national airline of Brazil because they provide very poor service. I hope that they will improve their service when they realise they are losen customers to other companies.

We flew with TAM from London to Sao Paulo, after which we were meant to fly with LAN to Buenos Aires, but Expedia messed up the details, so TAM sorted this out and put us on one of their flights (admittedly they weren't very communicative about what was going on, but they sorted it in the end). Both flights left on time, the staff were generally helpful, could be a bit dismissive at times, but no shortage of drinks, pillows etc. Two meals served on the 11 hour flight.

The plane looked and felt new and was clean. On the downside the chairs were a bit hard, and space was lacking, especially for me being 6ft - but it was economy.

The quality of the entertainment was particularly impressive, with personal TVs, headphones worked fine, and they had a surprisingly big range of up-to date films to choose from.

Impossible to contact someone in case of problems. No one seems to be in charge. Emails remain without response.

Just been trying to book flights from LHR to Rio on TAM linhas and the website crashed every time - I tried several times so was unable to book anything and now unable to travel. Would now be discouraged from using the site again, and look at alternative airlines.

Flights were on time. Planes were clean and modern. Air Stewards were friendly and helpful as was the check-in staff and telephone customer service representative. Luggage, if slightly over weight, was well looked after, including baby's pram and car seat. Value for money. Language not a problem, plenty of English speakers. 9 hour wait for connection. Seats a bit cramped for tall people. At 6 ft there are plenty taller than me but I had no real knee space particularly when the person in front put their seat back. Overall a good experience with no real downsides. Economy is more than adequate for a relatively long flight.

TAM is as good or better than any major airline in the USA. Sept/Oct 2007 I flew to seven Brazilian cities, all on TAM, and I was impressed.
