Discaceful

I went to Birmingham show paid deposit on dress went for fitting lady could not be bothered with us after driving from swindon then was told dress would be ordered and to arrive 6 weeks later 15 weeks later still no dress then to be told shop closing and i would lose my deposit or my order has been taken over by serendepidy brides and i would just have to pay the balance i rang them & that is not the case they said that Vanilla brides had taken such a large deposit on the dress they could not afford to purchase the same dress with the balance as promised by Vanilla brides the whole thing is a knightmare and Alice Harris owner of Vanilla brides dont seem to care, but she has had my money for herself since March 2010 and has ruind my wedding. Vanilla brides has not gone bankrupt she has just decided to close the store due to sale falling through as quoted on the phone by her assistant. How can she not be responsible for paying money back. Vanilla Brides had also said they would send a letter out but they have not just an email stating options and if you want your money back you will only get a fraction of it back as she is personally winding her own Ltd company up herself without any receivers involved or courts surely she cant get away with this can she? or loads of firms can do the same what about due dilligence rules for Ltd companies? This is what she said she has been advised to do as quoted on telephone by herself. Vanilla brides states that they have only known about this for 3 weeks if so why has my dress not been ordered as it has been 15 weeks since order date so that tells me she has known about this from then and not 3 weeks ago as stated by telephone & e-mail sent to us stating only 2 weeks they have known?

I had a similar experience. My deposit for my dress and accessories has now disapeared. Despite promises and assurances that just the balance will be required for the items I have already paid half of, it now transpires that NONE of the money paid went anywhere except into Alice Harris's pockets. Totally distraught when I found out and Alice continues to ask for more money, promising to complete some parts of my order. I have been told such a lot of lies, this whole experience has been awful. If anyone else is in a similar position please contact me.

I am in the same position. I paid the deposit for my dress and accesories and despite promises that just the balance would be due, now it transpires that none of the suppliers were paid any of the money, so I am liable to pay the full amount! They are still asking more money to fulfil part of the order, but am loathed to trust her as she's misled and lied to me before. Feel very betrayed by this whole thing, ripped off and upset. We are looking at options with the bank, but as not paid by credit card there doesn't seem to be much we can do. This can't be right, surely they must be guilty of some criminal act to take money and produce no goods. It's theft. If you are in a similar position and would like to contact me.

You should check that Vanilla Bridal was trading as a limited company - I bought my dress from here last year but on checking the Company Registration info (as is detailed in their Terms and Conditions) I discovered that the company doesn't exist. Legally if Alice was trading without a Limited Company then she is personally liable for the company's debts and you could therefore sue her personally for your deposit.

Stuffy And Boring!

Having visited Brides of Buckingham i was hopeful that my experience at Vanilla Bridal would be just as fun... i was very wrong! Squeezed into a tiny changing room, felt very uncomfortable being told to 'strip down to your underwear' in front of a complete stranger and having her dress me! Also not allowed to take photos which means i wouldn't return there anyway as i can't remember what dresses looked like! Made to feel that £1000 on a dress wasn't very much and felt very limited by choice..... won't be going back!

Despite What Other People Have Said About Vanilla

Despite what other people have said about Vanilla Bridal, I have found them to be lovely and it was a fantastic experience. I bought my dress from them and bridesmaids and all within my moderate budget. They were very helpful at giving me ideas for my wedding and just letting me have the time i needed. I can't rate them enough

I Was Highly Disappointed By This Shop, I First Tr

I was highly disappointed by this shop, i first tried a dress on a the wedding show in Birmingham and the assistant really did not seem very interested in me.

I then went to the shop to try the dress on again so my mum could see it and the assistant was rude and unhelpful, i was rushed in and out very quickly, i have now bought the same dress from another shop as well as my Bridesmaid dresses and accessories, i would not recommend the shop to anyone

The Dresses In The Shop Did Not Appear To Have Bee

The dresses in the shop did not appear to have been well looked after and generally I was disappointed as I had been recommended to go there. I also found the assistant seemed snooty to me.

The dresses were too pricey for my modest budget (and I got the feeling they felt the same.)

Vanilla Bridal Had An Excellent Selection Of Dress

Vanilla Bridal had an excellent selection of dresses by a range of designers, in a good selection of sizes and prices. The appointment was 2 hours, so I didn't feel rushed. The lady that served us was very knowledgeable about various designers and dress styles. She was friendly and gave good advice.

It was generally a pleasant experience. However, they didn't make me feel particularly special. Considering they stock dresses at £2000+ I didn't feel that I was receiving a service that was reflective of this.
