Severe allergic reaction on areas of skin I used this product on. DO NOT USE this product!!! I have tried using antihistamine to get rid of itching and discomfort but it’s resistant to that. Early in my holiday and have no idea how long it will last

After 3 days of use I am now covered in an itchy rash. The rash is developing into pustules/blisters and is extremely uncomfortable. Avoid Piz Buin like the plague, it's awful and will ruin your holiday. I will be complaining to J&J when I get home....

Used this for four days, now have a rash everywhere it's been applied. Nothing is helping. Will never use again. Face is swelled up and it's extremely itchy.

I got to 40 years without ever suffering an allergic reaction to anything, until last week when, unusually for Blighty, it was too sunny to go outdoors unprotected. I slathered on the Piz Buin and went about my gardening. I didn't burn, so I suppose that's a plus, but I've had a severe itchy rash (contact dermatitis?) for days. Interesting that the manufacturer says that this only happens to 0.01% of people using their product. I think they ought to have a glance at review sites such as this, and think again about their figures.

I used this product in Italy after being there the previous week using a different product. After applying the skin on my neck/ chest felt irritated but I thought it was the sun so applied some more protection. My skin continued to worsen that day so kept the area covered only to find that my skin absolutely erupted in to red risen blister type sores !!! The redness worsened even though I stayed out of the sun - the irritation was unbearable. After about three months it was a lot better; but even now, after nearly 3 years it takes very little for the area to become irritated - I can definitely not apply perfume to the area. If only I had known the consequences of using this product. Have even tried the allergy cream but this produced a similar burning sensation. Do not risk ruining your holiday or your skin with these products.

Please beware! Patch tests may not help you tell if you're allergic to this for several days! I bought this because I'd used Piz Buin One Day Long lotion a few years ago, and found it great - really durable and excellent sun protection. However, it seems they've since changed the formulation, advertising its helioplex technology. I used this new one on a short trip to Portugal last week. Now I'm lying awake from a lumpy rash over most of my body - apart from my tummy, lower back and face, which were the only places I didn't use this cream. It's so bad I can't sleep, and is worsening so much I'm going to the doctor tomorrow. The rash first appeared on my chest and neck four days into my holiday, and I thought it was heat rash. But I returned to the UK (much cooler) the next day and it got worse, spreading elsewhere on my body, so I realised it was more likely an allergy. I Googled the sun cream when I noticed I'd only developed the rash where I'd applied it (thank goodness I used their facial sunscreen on my face, which I seem to be fine with) - really wish I'd done so before I bought and used it, but as I'd used it a while ago I thought it would be the same as before. I do have sensitive skin to like to still to known and trusted products. My Mum seems ok after using it, apart from getting acne on her face where she did use the cream, so obviously not everyone using it will react like me. But I'd advise you not to risk this cream unless you've used the exact formulation before, over several days, with no reaction to it. I'm definitely going to write to Johnson & Johnson to complain, because I'm not sure enough people will realise it's this cream they've reacted to if, like me, the reaction took several days to develop. This is the worst reaction I've suffered to anything and will be binning this cream. Just hope this unsightly and painful rash nightmare will clear up soon!

I too have had the same reaction to Piz Buin 1 day long. Having previously used it and had no problems. My fore arms so itchy, red and blotchy. I had to resort to antihistimines to get a good nights sleep. Only discovered it was this product when I ran out on holiday in Portugal and could not get it and bought another product. Within a day the itch subsided and I could even stop the antihistimines. After 3 weeks of this the skin on my arms is only just getting back to some kind of normal in apperance

If you are in the market for suntan cream I would definitely not recommend this product. After using it only once I have been left looking like the monster from the blue lagoon. It has made my face and eyes swell (I look as if I have been in a boxing match) and I have come out in what looks and feels like hives in any place it was applied. It's three days since I had my first reaction to this cream and my face and eyes are still the same. PLEASE PLEASE AVOID THIS PRODUCT.

I recommend that urgent action to be taken to identify and have all this Brand of Piz Buin re-assessed because it causes skin damage.I put on the Johnstone & Johnstone Piz Buin 1 Day Long Sun Cream on Friday 19th July 2013 on my Face,Arms & Neck. The next day I woke up to discover that I had a serious rash with tiny red lumps on my arms & neck,my Face was badly swollen up. Went to my local A&E & explained what was wrong. They informed me that The Watchdog TV Programme had a lot of people complaining about the Severe Allergic Reaction when using this Sun Cream. Was prescribed Hayleve for it & was told if still having bother to go back to see my own GP which I will doing.

i used the above product for the first time last Wednesday 10/07/2013. It was applied to my arms and legs only once and two days later an itchy rash appeared. Since then the condition has got steadily worse resulting in me visiting my GP this morning who has prescribed me Fexofenadine 180mg tablets, Eumovate Cream And Dermacool Cream. Due to the severity of the rash the Doctor told me to make another appointment for next Friday(19th) to see how I am, and if necessary I would be prescribed Steroids. This I did and was prescribed I am very upset that Jonson & Johnson are supplying a product like this for sale, which can cause the purchaser so much suffering from a very uncomfortable condition. The rash etc is still on going.

I have suffered with a terrible itchy rash for three days on my scalp, arms and legs after using this product. I have never suffered from skin allergies previously. This is a known problem with this particular product, yet it continues to be sold. When I visited my GP today, they told me that I was the latest in a long line of patients who had visited in the past fortnight following extreme allergic reactions to the same product. Avoid it like the plague, or you will end up looking and feeling like you've GOT the plague.

I used this suncream for a week. My arms, legs and ears are now covered in a red itchy rash. I have been suffering for 2 days now and just want the pain to end. I only just figured out what was wrong with me today. When I googled this product I realised it is a common problem and has been on watchdog. This stuff should be banned immediately!

I used Piz Buin 1 Day Long Sun Cream Lotion once and within 4 days an itchy rash started to appear we're I had previously applied the cream, the next day the rash was very red swollen and aggressive and the itching was driving me crazy. I went to my GP and I was then admitted into hospital and placed on a high dose hydrocortisone drip. Two days later I was discharged on high dose medication. The rash started to go after three weeks. I'm disgusted that the manufacture is still supplying this product following all the complaints they have received.

I've experienced the same issue as a lot of the other users of this product - I don't have a rash that shows until after itching but omg how much do my arms and back itch!! First used this in May and hadn't realised that it was the suntan lotion causing me problem and spent over a week itch my skin red raw. Do not buy this product!!! It really is not pleasant and is the first time i have suffered like this..

I used this product on a saturday and the following morning I had a rash on the inside of my left arm, by the Monday morning that had turned into a swollen face and both arms covered in this blister rash. The rash was also on my chest and face. I know it was this product as I had put a little on my ears and they had blisters on them. It's now day 5 since the reaction, swelling has gone with the help of antihistamine, but my arms are still stinging and itching. I'm annoyed that this product doesn't even recommend a patch test or advice especially as I have since found out it was on watchdog. If you are going to use this product then my advice is DON'T or at least conduct a patch test first.

I don't have sensitive skin but this brought me out in a terrible itchy rash and swelling. I'm not allergic to any other of the Piz Buin products which I've always found very good. If you are going to use it please do a patch test first. I have contacted Piz Buin who have been very good and taken my complaint seriously, I suggest others do the same.

I used this product once, and became aware of skin irritation and swelling. I have since discovered that the intolerance is due to the cosmetic preservative Methylisothiazolinone, that Dermatologists want banned. The most effected group are females over 40. It's hard to find any product which does not contain this preservative. You have to look for more expensive preservative-free sunblock products.

I have long term psoriasis and find that being in the sun helps the condition. I have used Piz Buin Allergy lotions for many years with no effect at all. This year I purchased the All Day product. Never again! Within 2 days my joints had swollen and I could not walk! I needed to attend the local hospital where they gave me supplies of anti inflammatory tablets to reduce the swelling and anti biotics as they could not identify the cause. The symptoms eased slightly, but only when I stopped used the product did I start to improve once I returned home. It was when I read the article about 1 Day Long Lotion in the Mail on Sunday that I realised what had caused my medical reaction. Why was there no warning on the product? Using the lotion effectively made me 'lose' 5 days of my holiday and spend a Saturday morning at a local hospital. The product should be withdrawn to prevent ongoing misery and prevent users suffering from the reactions caused by the preservative contained called methylisothiazolinone

Severe reaction to this, rash from head to toe which got progressively worse for 5 days after I stopped using the product. I had to take time off work and had to stay inside during the rare nice British weather, anti-histamines only helped slightly, I also used steroid cream, pyriton about 4 times a day, calamine lotion to try and ease the swelling and itch. Avoid this at all costs!

I am a professional gardener and have always used Piz Buin products but after trying the 1 day sun cream 2 months ago and having an awful rash I didn't think it could be the sun cream. Yesterday I applied a small amount to my arms neck and face (the bits exposed to the sun with a t shirt on)and went into the sun for a couple of hours pottering round the garden (not sunbathing). At 6pm some 4 hours later I started to itch and it got worse, these areas are covered in the same allergic rash I had before. I am covered in what looks like a very intense prickly heat rash, my eyes, ears back of my neck are covered. My arms have a straight cut off where I didn't apply this cream, the front of my neck is also clear of any rash which is why I am confident it is this cream. I don't suffer from any allergies, the ingredient's in this cream should be investigated and the company have a moral responsibility. Nothing works to relieve the pain and discomfort and as last time it takes weeks to disappear. I will not use Piz Buin or any other Johnson & Johnson product again. I was stung by wasps 21 times on the back of the head and that was a doddle compared to this. Please don't use it!!

I got the same rash and reaction as the other reviewers. Thinking it was prickly heat I tried to treat is as such. everything I put on the rash made it worse. My doctor didn't know about this and I informed him. He was extremely shocked that 1 in 10 have an allergic reaction to the chemicals that this stuff is made from. That's a very high allergic rate. I also informed the nurse who had seen the rash on myself and too thought it was prickly heat. She was horrified when I told her it was the sunscreen because she too had bought 3 bottles of this for her own family holiday. Pass the message on through social media because a lot of people don't know about this.

I too got this rash thinking it was a heat rash i treated it with pyraton which made no difference, took weeks to clear. Today I have used Boots Soltan with insect repellent a d my skin is now itchy and starting to rash slightly. Im stuck on which sun tan lotion to now use and scared of going on holiday as it ruined my last one as we had to fly home sooner than planned. Please help!

Nightmare suncream Avoid! I used this and have been covered in the most painful itchy rash for a week now. Nothing eases it, I have missed work and I am struggling with the rain. It's like prickly heat only 100 times worse. Please share this on social media so that no one puts it on their children. Johnson and Johnson should be deeply ashamed not hiding behind excuses!
