What an awful machine, a complete waste of money and time. Never again. Machine fails to spray water. Very very difficult to access the parts that needed de-clogging (as per youtube video), the heater is in the base and not the handle as the video shows. It worked the first few times but that was it and the machine was out of warranty.

Had the BISSELL 9400 E for just over a year have paid for insurance twice now...has only ever worked once, suction never seems to work, been repaired twice each time we get it repaired it comes back to us not working!! Switched it on yesterday and it blew up. Really annoyed and disgusted with it and bissell...all in all a waste of around £400 including insurance.

The people on hear complaining about blockages suprise me. I had a similar problem once because I didnt clean the machine after I used it. I phoned there customer line and they told me how to fix it. It took less than 5 minutes to do and I didn't need any tools or anything.
The machine is quite big and heavy, so I have to get someone to lift it up the stairs for me, but it really does a greatjob and I am glad we got it. I paid about £250 for mine and it was worth every penny.

This machine total rubbish - it sounded great so I paid nearly £300 for it and have just tried to use it for the 3rd time only and the cleaning fluid doesn't come out etc. What a waste of my morning.
Complete and utter rubbish!
DONT EVER BUY ONE!

Used Blissell proheat 2x 4 times after buying it from new and the jets are now blocked. My advice is save your money or you will end up with an expensive piece of junk. Bissell should be ashamed of themselves for selling this piece of s..t to their customers. I certainly will not be buying any of their products again.

Bissell PROheat 2X (9400E) - During initial use performance was excellent, with great cleaning results, all carpets coming up like new. HOWEVER, our experience of reliability is the same as many of the other reviewers, pricipally blockage of floor spraying jets. I have just spent around half a day tracking down the last blockage (cleaner had been unused for about 6 months). Bissell recommend using only their shampoo and it is this that apparently produces the blocking sludge. Careful and thorough flushing through of whole system, including clean warm water in the 'formula' bottle minimises the reoccurrence, but does not eliminate the problem - I have got to know the internals of our machine exceedingly well! Machine not recommended for those who don't do DiY repairs!!

I bought a Bissell instead of a Vax due to the name, proved wrong with this, haven't had the problems with the spray as I usually rinse through with water at the end, the vac on it comes and goes as and when it wants, my brushes don't work now, stripped it down and can see nothing wrong belts everything looks fine, getting a professional in in future, not worth the time/hassle.

i have a bissel steam cleaner and have figured out the no spray problem that repair shops cant do -this repair is for after other easy things have been checked ie clogged nozzels and a blocked heater block broken belt-the problem is there is 2 hoses that run up to the heater block they run thru the handle and down to the tank/pump -the problem is the hoses get kinked behind the wheel on the left side of machine-the machine has to be taken apart and the 2 hoses rerouted to the heater block bypassing the wheel route. to do this i drilled a hole in the bottom of the base behind where tank goes and drilled hole in handle assem to route new hoses. you will have to buy new lengths of hose 5 bucks at harware store.leave slack in new hoses so handle will move freely when moved up and down.replace one hose at a time so you dont confuse where they go .the new hose routings are seen when all put together maybe not a factory look but it fixes the no spray problem.hope this helps takes about 2 hours to do if mechanicly inclined.p.s. clean heater block while you have this apart.

Totally agree with other reviews. Spray on the Bissell 9400E Proheat Select has stopped working even after trying all the trouble shooting suggestions. Would cost £85.00 to fix. Never again and very very disappointed

Had the same problems as others with this pile of junk, spray jets getting clogged up after using it three times, stay well clear of the bissel proheat select unless you want to waste around £200

I had trouble with Bissell 9400E Proheat Select 2X from the day I bought it. First had trouble with the suction, then it stopped spraying, and brushes quit working. I thought if I paid a little more, I would get better quality, however that was not the case. I am very disappointed that Bissell would sell this junk to consumers.

I bought my Bissell 9400E Proheat Select 2X secondhand from Secondhandheaven.co.uk for £100 and the guy there told me that it had been sold to them with the same problem that others here are having. He told me that I must rinse through after use or the spray nozzles block-up, I didn't and guess what, it did. I took it back to him and he repaired it for me .. He did it whilst I was there and it took about 15 minutes..

OMG--I too have used my Bissell 9400E Proheat Select twice before, and now it does not work! I bought it 10 months ago--this is my 3rd use and only the upholustry cleaner will work---does nort spray floor or carpet at all. Not worht the $250 I paid!

Difficulty with spraying. For no obvious reason it came to a complete stop. I sent it away for repair to Bissell who collected and returned it. It was returned in the same state.
I am now stuck with the Bissell 9400E Proheat Select 2X carpet cleaner that does not work. It would have been cheaper to have got somebody in when the carpet wanted cleaning as I have only used this about four times.

I agree with the others... don't buy... i also thought bissel was suppose to be a good product.. WRONG. I think I payed 250 for mine... It would have been cheeper to have paid someone...

Mine Bissell 9400E Proheat Select 2X works well for 4-5 uses; then you will not get a spray and it will cost you over $100 to repair. They have made it impossible for most to repair themselves and even if you fix it the machine will break again after 4-5 uses in our case. The main problem is the pump. Do your research, I wish I had. 100% of the reviews I read AFTER buying were negative. I trusted the Bissell name, and now I regret it.

How do you review something that costs $200 and only works 2x? Of course, I have now had the Bissell 9400E Proheat Select 2X a year and on my 3rd cleaning and the sprayer doesn't work. It does clean the heck out of a carpet but for that much money and only 2 clean carpets, not good. So, I paid $100 each for 2 cleanings which I could've gotten a professional to do and sat on the couch and watched!

It is frustrating to clean a carpet with the hand tool when I invested in the Bissell 9400E that was meant to be taking the hard work out of cleaning the carpet! Not working at moment the soap and water solution not coming out. Only used it a couple of times.

Overall the Bissell 9400E Proheat Select 2X was a disappointment. Cleaning solution for this vacuum cleaner is also about $25 a bottle. Too costly to operate and too much of a hassle when it does not spray.

Completely agree. Mine ran out of water but it doesn't tell you, clogged the heater with concealed soap. Plenty of places where water and electrics can mix. The death was finally caused by a burnt out solenoid that turns the roller brush. Smashed to pieces in the garden, ala Basil Faulty's car.
Conclusion, trying to do too much with no intelligent electronics in the system.
Hire a good quality machine.
