I am so far beyond this little book that I'm sorry to have ordered it. I expected much more from Langenscheidt. But if you need a grammar boost - and today it seems nobody pays much attention to grammar unless learning a new language - this book can be a very straightforward aid. It is written in two languages side by side, which also gives the student a direct vocabulary builder.

This retailer put wrong address on parcel so I didnt recieve my book...however mistakes can happen its one of them things! I was offered a replacement free of charge but as I would not get this before Christmas opted for a full refund from them. They had good contact with me throughout all the complication very efficient and helpful thanks Luke :-)

I placed one order for 30 items. 29 items arrived ok. The other item was a multimedia item comprising a book with a CD. The CD arrived without the book. I sent 2 emails about this matter to Book Depository but received no reply. There is no telephone number on their web site to call them so if you have a problem and they don't answer emails, then you are stuck! Prices are reasonably good compared to other websites, but if you have a problem with your order, you may be lucky or you may not.

For the last few years I've been really impressed with Book Depository -- comparatively low prices, free and fast shipping (important as I live in New Zealand), great customer service, and no hassles refund policy. Recently, however, 6 of the 10 books I've ordered have not arrived a month or so later, when Book Depository state it should take 7-10 days. In their defence, they offered a full refund/replacement and apology. But this degree of unreliability has definitely dented their good image in my mind. -Paul P.

CONS: I used to have no problems with shipping with this company. Orders came usually from about about a week and a half to two weeks, now all my orders come in about 2 1/2 weeks or even three weeks plus. It's supposed to be 7-10 days to my country. I don't know why this has started happening in the past two months or so. If you want to get your pre-order book fast, don't use this site, it will come a week or two after the release date. One thing that is really off, is the US site has different prices than the UK site. It's often dearer, or SOMETIMES a cent cheaper than the UK site. It really just depends on the book. It pays to check book versions of the site before buying, as I have seen a large difference in prices on one book on both sites! They are very very late when it comes to getting in books that have already released a month or two earlier on Amazon. I've had pre-orders come in over a month later than the Amazon official date. Sometimes they will say they have sent me a book that I pre-ordered and it hasn't even released yet! Sometimes pre-order dates are pushed further ahead too. Sometimes (but not always) when it comes to pre-ordered books and a date on them, they will adjust it when it nears the Amazon date, but I've only seen this happen once. Book prices can be strange, like books releasing next year are dearer than ones that have already released (same series). Or, books that are about to release are cheaper than ones releasing months away etc. This is frustrating and also weird. PROS: Anyhow, they are great and offer refunds and also have the most amazing deals! Books from book depository uk usually come with a bookmark and the bookmarks have interesting info, like one I got that was a little ruler and one about fish not to eat! Refunds do take a couple days (mine take about 5 days, but they will come). Their items usually come in a bubble wrapped bag, but if you order books that are pretty thick or heavy, they will put them in a thick cardboard thing (not sure what you call it) to keep the book's shape.

Previously everything has always gone smoothly but my last order was a disappointing experience. The Book Depository always claims the books are "usually dispatched within 48 hours" but in practice this is NOT true. The books I ordered were actually not in stock and The Book Depository seemed to have no idea when they would be available. After a week I tried to send them email, no response. Then I tried using the contact form on their web page, got an answer and apologies for the delay but no clear indication when the books might be in stock. Eventually it took 270 hours for them to ship my 1st book and 290 hours for the second one. After that the first book arrived in three days (which was quite fast) but for the second book the shipping took 12 days. So all in all I had to wait 14 days for the first book and 24 days for the second one to arrive in Northern Europe. And they charged my credit card immediately after I placed my order! Many other stores charge the card only when the product is actually shipped. Summa summarum: if you are in a hurry, there are definitely better options than The Book Depository! The prices are OK, the selection is vast and the free shipping sounds tempting but I guess next time I'll try another bookstore.

I buy from bookdepository for a number of years already. Their prices are still unbeatable for any destination in Europe. However, the shipping time indiction is purely fixtional - 'usually ships within 48 hrs' on my last order took 6 days to be shipped. Once the books have been shipped it will still take them anywhere between 10-15 WORKING days to arrive. That really is too long in my opinion. For that reason I am often tempted to pay a bit more with compentition but receive my books weeks earlier.... loosing a loyal customer.

The Book Depository offers a very cheap price on books compared to other book seller but has an unreliable tracking service. The tracking service only tells you when you placed an order and when it has been dispatched. The time to dispatch an order can range from 1 day to a full 7 days after you have placed the order. Customer is very godd usually takes about 2-3 hours before they send you a reply. But cancelling orders will take forever. Overall Book Depository is a very good service but is unreliable in delivery

I have overall not many problems with book depository, my books always come nicely packaged and they even offer refunds if they can't get a book in (you have to ask them for it though otherwise they will get away with keeping your money). My only problem is if you look up on bookdepository uk or the standard book depository site on one book in your currency, the price is different. Which has tricked me in the past. (luckily I check both sites before buying a book to see what is cheaper) Also, they change prices pretty frequently. So after you buy a book, it will become cheaper not long later by a couple dollars. Or when you finally want to order it, it goes up suddenly a few more dollars. It just gets really frustrating, because I want to pay a fair price on a book. Not all these different prices. The free shipping is really amazing, but sometimes the books are over-priced closer to the release date and after the release date, which is frustrating. I don't really like pre-ordering as you don't know what could happen in the future (you could move houses or whatever). I give them 3 stars

I ordered a book from Book Depository UK (to the EU) and it arrived with a small tear in the jacket. As it is quite an expensive coffee table type of book and I want it to be in perfect condition, I emailed them to tell them that the book was damaged and they emailed me back asking if I could provide a photograph of the damage! This seems a bit strange to me and I'm wondering how damaged the cover should be for them to consider it bad enough to replace or refund. If they don't consider it damaged enough, will they tell me to live with it?! Has anyone else had this experience?? I've googled and everyone else who received damaged books from this website says that the books were replaced or refunded, not queried about extent of damage. Plus my only other experience with receiving a damaged book was with amazon.co.uk, who replaced it immediately.

Where to start? Well, the books were a steal. I got a very good copy of Jo Nesbo's Redbreast for just US$4.44 from the website. That's a week's worth of entertainment for four bucks. It's a very good deal. But the delivery. Oh. Gods. I bought three books, each shipped separately. Two were marked "shipped" on May 17, and the other on May 18. The status update came two days after I paid for my purchase, so that's fine. I've experienced laggy deliveries from Book Depository before, so I wasn't bothered when the books didn't show up after the first week. On the second week, which was the last week of May, I thought: "Any time now." I was wrong. On the first week of June, I sent an email to Book Depository asking what's happened to my books. The tracking on the site is quite rubbish actually. It just insisted that they've all been shipped on those dratted dates. I sent my email as a reply to the book confirmation, but I got a terse reply saying I should expect an "8-14 days" wait for my orders to arrive. If the person who replied to me had read my email carefully, he might have noticed that I did in fact wait two weeks before asking for my books. I sent another email out to orderquery instead, and the reply was a lot better. I was advised to check with my local post office, and if the books are lost, I was told the website will refund my purchase. Excellent. I checked in on the post office, and they couldn't track an order that was sent normally. Then my luck turned for the better - the next day, all three books miraculously arrived at my doorstep. All in all, a more consistently considerate reply from the BD people would have been nice. And I know that shipping is free, but surely it shouldn't be so irregular? Still, great offers for the books. -Cheryl

I was anxious to know when the book would arrive. My question was properly answered.

Buying 'Counselling Children' and 'Counselling Adolescents' - my experience this time has been very confusing - i ordered books but recieved no confirmation order and no charge on my credit card so i thought i was going crazy and hadn't actually placed an order. i contacted customer service who suggested i place another order - which i didn't but then the books arrived, around three weeks after the initial order.it seems that the online ordering has let you down this time - no confirmation email and the charge on my card took a long time to come through althought it shows up as being made on the 24/2. I am still very grateful for the books and the price which was less than stated. And I will still recommend your service to others.

I have always been very happy with the customer service through the Book Depository, but my last experience was dissapointing. I received an email offer to get a % off my next order and when I attempted to use it, it failed, and their customer sevice told me that I needed to follow a link to make the coupon work. There were no instructions to direct customers to do this so imagine others had the same problem I did, and were not refunded their money but like me were given the opportunity to use it on their next order. Wasn't too happy that their error could only be repaired by forcing me to order again!

From the moment you pay, you have to pray and have faith that the system is going to work. There's no way to keep the track between the dispatch and the moment you receive the book (from bookdepository.com) It could be an option to pay an extra in order to have a post code with which track your stuff until you actually receive it. And 1 month and a half seems to be waaay to long time to wait...

The book was very reasonably priced and your customer service people were quick to respond when i contacted them. However the book did take 11 business days to arrive so I was a bit disappointed with that and also the book was very badly banged up when I received it. maybe you need to rethink your packaging when the books are being sent as far as Australia. I would use your service again but if it takes that long to deliver and if the book is squashed that would be the last time. here's hoping we can do some more business and that it is a better result for me the next time!

First thing first : PACKAGING! You really should use bubble wrap, PLEASE! I receive my books damaged each time. New book damaged = used book. Amazon isn't better on this point but it doesn't excuse the bad packaging. So please do something! (I live in Belgium).
Second : Delivery : Usually dispatched within 24 hours doesn't mean a lot actually, because when the status is "-Dispatched-" you have to wait quite a long time sometimes (2 weeks). But I'm okay with that. Receiving new books not damaged would make me happy enough. I don't care about waiting for it 1 or 2 weeks long.
Third : I love your website! Very clean. Easy to go through. As an other customer said, it would be so great to be able to see a little inside the book (the contents first, then the middle chapter (not like amazon... we don't care about the introduction!), then the end). I like video review also (not for novels of course). A better place for comments could be a nice improvement also. I know we can leave comments about the books, but I rarely see any written.
Fourth and last : good job! Now, USE BUBBLE WRAP FOR PACKAGING AND I'M YOURS FOREVER!

If I order a book from Amazon, at most I wait three/four days for delivery even on free shipping. I ordered the book Monday and it's now Thursday and the order is still 'processing'.
They advertise off the back of quick delivery and low prices. Low prices, yes. Quick delivery, my bum!
If it's not stated as in the mail by tomorrow, order will be canceled. Monopoly or not, Amazon work.

Same experience, Paul - books are taking longer to get to NZ, brilliant there's a no-questions-asked, refund or resend policy, am starting to wonder if it's to do with NZ customs/post not ready for the pre-Christmas rush....
