We had treatments at Carlisle .They were extremely professional , attentive and informative throughout . This was my first spa experience , after feeling a little nervous they put me at ease and made sure it was an amazing session . Left feeling totally refreshed and relaxed , would highly recommend and we will most definitely be back . Thank you so much

If there was a thing called ZERO star I would give that. Honestly the worst customer service ever!! Due to me moving out of the area I wouldn’t be able to attend the gym. I sent multiple emails I’ve even called the gym itself and got nothing back. All they have done is send threats. They treat their customers really bad!!!!!

1 star is way to much for this company, who knowingly mis-sold us a 3 month Gym membership - for us only to discover later that the small print allowed them to continue taking subs after the 3 month period. They then claimed more money from us saying we'd not cancelled... and after taking 2 extra months above what we verbally agreed. Horrendous experience - and we were unable to contact them to try to resolve the issue.

So shocked over Bannatyne Gym, there's no lifeguard around the swimming pool or on the grounds. This is around the weekend when they allow children to swim !! I have paid a whole year for this that I went to once!! I can't take my child swimming if there's no life guard anywhere to be seen!! Head office rudely just say it's down to the parent who's taking the child or children. I've never heard anything so ridiculous. I am not a trained life guard though I am a responsible parent, so responsible that I won't have my child step foot in your gym again. Bannatyne Gym is NOT SAFE FOR CHILDREN and they don't care.

Awful experience, joined in October after a number of days was truly appalled by the lack of cleanliness, poor equipment and poor service recieved. I requested to cancel after a week and for the second month charge not to be applied and was met with a rude response from the team onsite, I have raised these concerns to the Executive team at Bannatyne and was completely dismissed, and informed they are doing a great job in fact the regional manager "visited last week and they are doing a great job". Please save your money and time and stay away from this mob crowd. Extremely old equipment and lack of quality classes. Really wish I could turn the time back on this one.

Pool was cold and limited seating to relax, sauna was tiny. This is not a spa resort as sold, it’s more of a gym. Lack of heating throughout Daughter only received two of her three treatments. Was informed Jacuzzi was broken before visit but assured we would get an additional day to use facilities. Was supposed to have a spa day but left after 2.5 hrs - feeling cold and disappointed Had booked to eat in the restaurant, however left due to lack of choice, would describe as more of a cafe than a restaurant. Was not the relaxing chill day we had looked forward to, having sorted child care and travelling.

Been a member of Wildmoor Bannatyne Spa for a year but having tried the gym, classes and pool, I have only used the pool for the past 6 months as I find the classes aimed at anyone below he age of 65. Some older members might have been gym ushered all their life so may find their Bannatyne Club ok. I am a fit and active senior citizen but I suffer arthritis so even Pilates and some yoga sessions are too difficult. Hathaway Yoga is the gentlest but there’s only one class occasionally during the hours of 9 and 4pm. Also, the steam room is a dangerous place to be as it has a low level which in the steam is missed by people when stepping down from the high levels! I have fallen twice and have seen others almost fall, one being an elderly gentleman!I have informed staff on four separate occasions and suggested that lower level is indicated by a bright coloured tape at it’s edge. Sadly, my suggestion has been ignored and one member of staff told me that it’s not possible to use sticky tape in a steam room. I replied, “ look for something else then!” As I am paying the same as a younger person despite only using the pool area, I may end my membership very soon. The senior beauty technician has been noted as being extremely rude to customers

Absolutely disgusting company I was on a monthly rolling contract. when I lost my job and moved away 2 month before I actually cancelled my payment I wasn't using the gym or its services and because I didn't cancel it correctly 6 months later they're still asking me for the money customer service offer zero help there more desperate for 60 pound then someone's health or wellbeing.... will never ever use them again

The trouble that I have had trying to book a spa day with Bannantynes has been the most ridiculous farce ever. The booking system via BuyaGift led me to the Bannantynes redemption site and this didn't work but the chat help line insisted that I do it the way that they say - which was the way it didn't work. 20 minutes waiting for the Bury St Edmunds location to answer their phone and then we were cut off. The Head Office number that the chat line gave me just said go onto the website. Someone from their company should really try to use their booking system and sort it out

Rude staff. Awful customer service. Poor facilities. Don't waste your hard-earned cash or precious time. Booked for a spa day and had to leave and refund due to awful experience with rude staff.

Disgraceful company to deal with. Club gave notice it was re-opening after COVID lockdown but with the facilities which we value as non-operational. Notice of opening was given 2 weeks prior to next direct debit so DD was cancelled, but ‘debt’ being recovered is 6 weeks of membership. Despite responding to several of their incessant emails and texts, for which the only method of contact was form filling online, none have been responded to. Now ‘debt’ has been sold to debt collection agency. Facilities were fully operational 4 weeks ago but there’s no way I am now rejoining.

He is not allowing people to cancel their memberships during covid, I tried every way possible, leaving me with one option and that was to cancel my direct debit. and now they are trying to charge me through bailiffs for the 2 months since they opened. I explained my situation that had to leave the city as I lost my job, I lost everything and luckily have a couch to sleep on at the minute. The place I’m living doesn’t even have one of his gyms and I hadn’t stepped inside the building since the first initial lockdown. I’ve explained all of this and they couldn’t care less, he is threatening to take me to court over £59! Worth £684 million and ruining my life over £59..

I have been a member of the Bannatynes health club in York since it first opened, over 15 years ago, carrying on my membership from the old living well gym that Bannatynes took over. Owing to failing health and moving away from the immediate area I decided to cancel my membership during the COVID 19 lockdown in July. I was unable to directly e mail either the health club or the head office, and although I rang them several times no one answered the phone. I cancelled my direct debit at my bank, and was subsequently contacted In August by Bannatynes to say that I owed them two months membership of £255, as the date of cancellation had to run from the date they contacted me. I argued that as I had not actually used the gym since 2019, and the the gym had been closed for the last 4 months and I had been unable to contact anyone to cancel my membership this should not apply. This was not accepted and I have been hounded for the money ever since, and threatened with debt collectors for a service I have not used. I have finally had to pay the £255, but I would never go back to membership at this gym again. Their treatment of me has been appalling. Customer care and service is NIL. All they want is your money. The gym itself did not work for me, as too few Pilates classes were run, which got booked up very quickly and I couldn't get in. The ladies showers and changing area is in a sorry state and hasn't been updated for 15 years. The cafe is slow, indifferent and poor food quality.

Been a member for 15 years, went in today to suspend it for 6 months, on suspension you normally pay £10 retainment fee, which I’m fine with. But here’s the kicker. During lockdown, all accounts were frozen for FREE for over the past 4 months. When I went to suspend my account, they said would charge me £40 up front to suspend it, charging me the £10 a month which were free for everyone during lockdown the gym has been closed. Totally find it pathetic and disrespectful charging someone for a service which wasn’t available due to a closer. Wouldn’t surprise me it goes against trading standards as well. Totally pathetic.

I had a spa day on Saturday 19 October at the Ashford Bannantyne Health & Spa, due to unforseen circumstances with mechanical problems with our car where by the AA had to be called out resulted in us running slightly late, the lady on reception was very unhelpful and abrubt and relayed that we could not rebook without 24 hours notice and that we would have to call head office who were closed untill Monday morning and then added that being late would eat in to our alotted time. Once we arrive and started the treatment I was very disapointed with the massage I received, the spa therapist did not concertrate on the area of my back that i had concerns with, infact she said 'Oh God'!! she still even after this didnot focus on that area, she used her arms rather than hands on my back and just rubbed oil in. the scalp massge was uncomfortable as all she did was tighten and pull my hair. I was very disatisfied with my overall experience at this spa and would like to claim a refund.

I joined Bannatynes last year but it was not explained correctly their membership process so when I came to cancel 6months later I gave them the months notice they had requested only for them to say this was not the case and I couldn't leave. They froze my membership for 6 months so I could review then, then after two failed payments due to a bank switch error they called me to tell me they were cancelling my membership - no problem. Although now they have debt collectors chasing me for the missed payments and the cancellation fee, when I contacted Bannatynes to say I would pay this they then decided this was not good enough and they said I was still tied for 6months so they demanded that money. I called my own club to try and resolve it, but the managers veiw - not a concern if you were given incorrect info as we have terms and conditions means we aren't liable. Super. Top club. Stay away to save yourself any grief.

I have been a member for about 2 years. Generally it is very good. The facilities are excellent, opening hours flexible and staff very attentive and helpful. However, there are been numerous times when things are not working. The jacuzzi and the steam room and also the air conditioning in the changing rooms. It is like a sauna in the changing rooms without the temperature regulator. Also, for such a prestige club the food is terrible. I heard the young girl serving food saying " no, it is easy, everything just gets microwaved from frozen". I would like to see fresh food served, and more staff to serve food as quite often there is no one on the counter. The gym, however, is excellent. A great choice of hi Tec equipment, superb.

I have been paying for my sons membership at Eastbourne but when he moved away to college last year I informed the club and heard nothing further until I received a letter after Xmas from Arc Europe (debt collectors) demanding £235. Rather than have any problem I paid up and was told the matter was settled and that my sons account was closed. But I have now received another demand for £147. At no time have the club written directly to my son or me but have simply instructed Arc Europe to send threatening demands. I discussed the first demand with the membership secretary but she said it was 'a matter for head office' and showed no interest or understanding whatever. She even handed me a form to cancel my own membership if I was not happy. I have been a member a long time. Clearly this company has no idea how to treat customers and I would suggest people avoid signing up and go elsewhere.

I was a member of that gym for nearly 3 years. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. The receptionist is disorganized. I wanted to cancel my membership because i would go for two months traveling. I was paying 60 pounds a month so I can cancel my membership easier. I sent emails and I got a reply about a week later. I called in to discuss my account and they told me its ok, sorted. A few days before my traveling I called in and they told me that they will charge me for an extra month. I cancelled my direct debit and they sent my account months later to a private dept company. I payed em back but I ll make sure I ll never go back.

I am having the same problem now with the same situation! Instead of dealing with my situation early doors, they have let the grass grow over their feet and now sent me to a debt recovery in less than five months at £37 per month I am now facing charges of £556. I am absolutely disgusted and heartbroken! As if life isn’t hard enough at the moment and Bannatynes are ripping people off left right and centre like this and stripping them of their rights!
