Purchased insurance TPFT for a 125cc bike, 6 months later changed bike/ Phoned Performance Direct who instructed me that the cheapest they could do was actually much more than what I could get elsewhere, and that was for fully comp. In the end I had to just cancel the policy and loose what had already paid for the next 6 months. I thought this to be totally unreasonable.

Performance Direct mis-transcribed various details which I had entered via compare the market, including substituting my home address for the address the motorbike was to be kept at. Their Ryanair-style website, lots of big flashing options to buy extras but key details concealed as far as legally possible, then concealed this and a string of other transcription errors from me whilst I confirmed the transaction. When the mandatory call came in from their call centre the background noise was such that both I and their staff struggled to hear some another, and the staff were rude - speaking over me to barrell through their processes irrespective of whether or not they fitted the situation. Will not be using them again, and would recommend to anyone else that they give them a wide berth. Faulty systems, unethical use of user interface design, and poor staff.

I heard about grove and dean from a friend and am very impressed with all aspects of their company. There's employees are friendly and really know there stuff which surprised me as i would usually dread renewing insurance due to the hassles of countless phone calls and form-filling.would definitely recommend to anyone looking for cheap rices and good service.

Needed insurance for my r1 and couldn't find a good price until I came across performance direct and saved myself a fortune! The whole process was quick and easy and the add ons were cheap so I'm fully covered.

I just recently had my insurance canceled after 5 months spent by them because their marker policy wouldn't cover my new address and new bike.Yet a week later i got a quote from them on a marker policy for my new address and new bike! These Brokers are bad and they know it because they won't send me the quotation and keep stating they never quoted me. The quote was for £600+ this is 3 times the price i paid for a policy i got elsewhere and it doesn't include roadside recovery, leathers/helmet and personal injury covers,legal and non claims protection! Grove and Dean, now calling themselves Performance Direct make you print out all your documentation,proofs of non claims and provide relevant paper work ie proof of driving licence,proof of non claims with demands within 14 days or their cancel your policy and not refund premium! BE WARNED STAY CLEAR OF THIS BROKER GROVE & DEAN/PERFORMANCE DIRECT

As all the other reviews state, they said that I had put my Information in wrong and charged me £40 so I could have it corrected. Otherwise my insurance would be cancelled for £55. Absolute joke, will definitely check reviews before purchase next time.

I have just got a new dirt bike that I green lane and need some insurance on it as i ride it on short sections of roads so went for the cheapest quote on compare the Meerkat as you do. Thinking it was all insured I then received a phone call saying they needed to check some details so went through some questions, the answer's they said I had put down were different to the ones they had. They said I had put down bh234532 for my number plate but any one can see that's not a valid uk number and why would i do that! So I said there computer was wrong and the details I had entered were right but they insisted I had made the mistake so i said i wanted to cancel they said this would have a cancellation charge and as i had been insured for 4 days they would have to charge for that and it worked out to be more than what I had paid so I then had to pay an extra £40 to make the amends on the info they said I had got wrong so in my eyes they are connn men/women do not use this company Oh and i wonder if i need to make a clam im actually insured!!!!!!

Appeared to be much cheaper than current insurer for a new car. Accepted quote and paid deposit. When accepting quote,advised Performance Direct that cover note required before collecting car the following day at 10.00am. Despite going over details twice on two separate calls and being promised an electronic copy of the policy and cover note that evening, nothing received. Made several calls requesting cover note first thing the following day. Kept waiting for 15 mins on one call. Eventually hung up. Sent 3 e-mails requesting cover note; no response. Had to contact another insurer who provided a similar quote and cover note by return. Cancelled Performance Direct immediately and now trying to recover the deposit. Mastercard refused to stop the card payment! Absolutely useless!

The worst ever brokers. Expect to wait for up to an hour each time you are redirected and do not believe the prices quoted they will increase by as much as 40% once they have your initial payment and you query where your documents are. Whoever you speak with will not be able to help and will redirect you for yet another 40-60 minute wait. If you want a motor policy and have two or three days to spend on the telephone at three to fours hours each time and don't mind the price getting hiked then these are the guys.Otherwise AVOID at all costs.

Performance direct auto renew polices, having called to cancel my policy at renewal in 2012 which they did not do and I did not receive a refund they have tried it again 1 year later! On trying to resolve this matter, the staff are rude, ignorant and have no concept of customer service. No doubt they are use to ripping people off hence just talk over you on the phone. Avoid this company, there are plenty of good honest insurance brokers around who dont try take your money on the sly.

Bought motorcycle insurance from them in a hurry last Friday, the site tells me I have to answer some legal questions before the certificate will be released, but in the interim I am covered. Five days later, I have rung them three times and emailed and still no phone call or insurance. I clearly interrupted the little git who aswered the phone's day off, a boy of few words but alot of attitude. I'm going to try and cancel and get my money back, I'm guessing this will cost. Haven't even got my insurance yet and I most certainly would not recommend them to anyone, horrid company.

Hi, just want to write experience with Performance direct insurance. When I filled form for car insurance online I have paid deposit to them but I have done a ONE mistake and after 30 mins they called me, they were very rude to me and they cancelled my insurance because I have done a mistake. THEY CHARGED FOR THAT MISTAKE £60 ITS ONE WEEK AND I STILL HAVENT GOT ANY MONEY. Just wanted to tell you my experience with this company. I wouldnt recommend them anybody.Thank you Pete

On the Tescocomplare website i filled in that i had smart water security on the bike and the quote came out at £305. on calling up they asked me if i had it data tagged, i said no i had smart water on the bike, this increased the premium by £40. thankfully it was an 0800 number so i didn't waste my money but did waste my time.

Terrible company to deal with, not impressed at all. They're based somewhere around Essex and are extremely rude and bad mannered from my experience.
Happy enough to take your money but when you need to amend something, big problems!
I spoke to two people; Initally to a woman because I wanted to change from a non performance car (1.6) to a smaller hatchback (1.2) and they would NOT allow it simply because it wasn't a performance car. I paid over 1200 GBP for it and had only 1.5 months to go on the policy. They obviously knew that I didn't want to cancel the policy because I would stand to lose my NCB so thought they were in the driving seat, pushing me about.
I didn't stand for that. The woman told me I would have to change and start new policy. I told her it was ridiculous and she put me on hold. After a little wait I got connected to a guy who didn't introduce himself but I assumed he was the manager. He proceeded to question me about the policy that I wanted to take out. I stupidly, thought that actually, they're a decent company and this manager is going to alter my policy as I originally thought.
At the end he told me a new policy for my new 1.2 would be 1000 GBP!!!
I WAS IN SHOCK at what this twit was telling me.
I again re-iterated that I wanted to amend my already set up policy that was running out in 1.5 months to which he replied: We cannot do that, you have to set up a new policy bla bla bla, that is your only option.
Thankfully, the comparison websites are very good and I got a good, fair quote from a respectablke company, I'm afraid I cannot say the same for this company.

Performance Direct: Not sure if the person who dealt with my policy was manipulative or just incompetent. But, first he sold me legal cover by saying that it will cost just five pounds extra and then after taking my payment and setting up the policy, informed me that legal cover actually added 25 pounds to my premium. I had specifically informed him about a previous claim (as you are required to disclose all claims on any vehicle in previous x years), he conveniently chose not to include that in policy documentation, and when I called up customer service after going through the documentation, they have no record of that information and have threatened to cancel the policy unless I agree to a change fee plus admin fee plus a higher premium. I am cancelling the policy with them as I am still within the 14-day cool-off period and I am getting a much better coverage elsewhere. Beware! If this is the level of service you get when you are paying the money, what will happen if you need to make a claim?

I insured a CRM250 with Performance Direct Insurance for £85 for the year, TPFT. The renewal was £75.60, which was great, first time I think i have ever seen a renewal be lower than the previous years.
Cost me more to swop the bike on the policy to a 2008 ER6N than it did to cancel the policy mid-term and take out a new policy, with them still being the cheapest!

Not happy.
Just cancelled my policy after 6 months because of selling my motorcycle. Thought I may get back some of my £130, which I paid up front, for 12 months cover. Not a penny for me, the cancellation fee's took care of this. So when I asked the half wit on the phone "what if I was paying monthly?" they replied "then you would owe us money". So basically I would have to keep paying my policy for another 6 months to cover the cancellation fee's! RIP OFF!
I have always been refunded money from other cancelled policy's!!

I WAS QUOTED FOR A NEW MOTORCYCLE AND THEY ARE ABSOLUTELY NOTHING SHORT OF CON MEN,THEY GIVE YOU A SUPERBLY LOW QUOTE,TAKE A LARGE DEPOSIT OFF YOU THEN RING YOU BACK WITHIN A COUPLE OF HOURS TO TELL YOU THAT THE QUOTE WILL ACTUALLY BE ALOT MORE ! THEN YOU CANCEL AND THEY WONT INSTANTLY REFUND YOUR CARD,I HAVE HAD TO FIGHT TOOTH AND NAIL TO GET MY CARD REFUNDED AND IN THE END HAD TO WAIT 28 DAYS AS THEY MADE ME WAIT WHILE THE PAYMENT SAT IN A PENDING STATE WHEN ALL THEY NEEDED TO DO WAS CANCEL THE TRANSACTION FOR ME.WHEN YOU PHONE THEM WITH A PROBLEM THEY PUT YOU ON HOLD AND NEVER PICK UP THE PHONE AGAIN,YOU RING BACK AND THEY DO THE SAME. AVOID AT ALL COSTS AS THEY ARE A TERRIBLE OUTFIT WITH AWFUL CUSTOMER CARE.
