Pet Detect Microchipping Course is a very good course throughout, plenty of info and some freebies, always welcome. The vet had patience of a saint and I enjoyed the course.

“I attended the Microchipping course through Pet detect...”

I attended the Microchipping course through Pet detect a company supplying equipment and training for people wishing to microchip dogs etc.

The course takes approximately 4 hours, during which time you as a student have the equipment, health and safety, and technique of microchipping dogs, cats, ferrets, rabbits and guinea pigs. You also cover the forms that need filling and the process of registering the animals on the database so that in the event they are lost they can be scanned and returned to their owners with the minimum of delay.
You are giving equipment to hold and examine and familiarise your self with, once you are happy as to how it all goes together and works you move on to practising on a stuffed toy called Lucky dog.

We were also allowed to practice on a live dog with dummy equipment under the supervision of the vet attending.

Once vet and tutor were happy that each student was confident and capable of microchipping we moved on to microchipping live animals for real.

Each student is invited to bring along three animals to microchip, this is included in the cost of the course so makes the course great value for money, when you consider most vets are now charging anything up to £30.00 for one animal and Pet-detect charge £75.00 for the course.

At the end of the course and after demonstrating to the vet and tutor that you can safely microchip at least one animal you are giving a certificate and an implanter's code, this enables you to order microchips and legally implant them.

An excellent course and very friendly company to deal with. Their website detailing the courses can be found at www.microchipping.com
