I placed an order with Amazon, something I do on a regular basis, and was surprised to receive a message informing me of exactly when my item would arrive, i.e. the time (a two hour slot) and the date. I received a further phone call on the day telling me that the package was on its way and would be with me within half an hour which it was. The two gentlemen who delivered could not have been more polite or friendly. So many delivery companies knock and run and rarely arrive when they say they are going to. I've read some terrible review on this company but it certainly wasn't my experience. Thank you HDNL!

“Amazon order”

“Is it just people complaining about HDNL when...”

It feels like HDNL have been ganged up on here! The internet is all well and good as a place for people to spout off when something goes wrong, but do they ever come on here and say when they have done something right? I am working 2000 miles away from home at the moment so ordered a Valentines Gift from Moonpig (Flowers, Chocolate, Balloon and Card) for my Girlfriend to get delivered to her office today. After seeing the horror stories on this site I thought the worst. However, at 12.20pm today, the gift box arrived with her in perfect condition! Top knotch service HDNL! Seems all the complaints for HDNL are linked to Amazon has anyone ever thought it could be due to the systems integration between Amazon and HDNL giving incorrect information?

Quite wrong I'm afraid. While most my deliveries were for Amazon, I've had HDNL foisted on me over several different retailers, and they've been equally appalling each time. They've failed to deliver entirely on about 10 percent of occasions, delivery has taken two or more 'attempts' (usually no card left) more than 60 percent of the time, and I cant recall a single time the packaging wasn't damaged, often to the point of being torn open and taped up - I've refused to sign on 5 or 6 occasions. Driver can't find the house? Only HDNL have ever managed this.

Credit where its due; DPD are great as usually are Royal Mail - I don't even have an axe to grind with City Link. But 'unprofessional' doesn't even begin to describe HDNL.

Integration fault my Ar*e They were two days late with my delivery. When I complained they told me the driver had attempted delivery and I did not answer. CCTV camera's don't lie, HDNL do! I guess you work for HDLN or a close friend or relative does!

So many reviews and always the same complaint. 3460 reviews and how many are making the same complaint? Maybe you need to sit back and have a think, are 3459 people wrong or are you?

“Never had any trouble with HDNL/Yodel”

When i made an order on Amazon and seen that HDNL were delivering it, i hadn't heard of them before, as such i looked for reviews on line and was worried to say the least when i had read a lot of them. What i didn't realize though, that it was Yodel who had changed their name to HDNL. I've never had any trouble with them, received all of my orders on time with Yodel last year, and HDNL have done the same today.Can only speak for myself,and i guess it depends on the area, but I've never experienced any trouble with them.

“Maybe I Was Lucky?”

Having read the shocking and appalling reviews for HDNL/Yodel, I was extremely concerned that my Express Delivery [2 working days] order from Eastex would never be delivered and that the Tracking System would not reflect the truth of the whereabouts of my order made on Friday, 20 April 2012. I emailed Eastex asking for reassurance they had used HDNL/Yodel previously however did not receive a reply which added to my concerns. Using the tracking number, my parcel was shown as having been collected and then having arrived at Gatwick Depot. I telephoned the Gatwick Depot to confirm my parcel had indeed been received and a very helpful, patient and polite administrator/member of staff assured me that my parcel was at the Depot. This morning, the tracker showed that my parcel had been loaded ready for delivery. Should my hopes be allowed to rise or should I still be suspicious? At approx 12.30 pm today, the doorbell went and there was the HDNL courier with my parcel under his arm, all complete and undamaged. In this instance, HDNL/Yodel have proved to be very efficient; the staff member I spoke to gave excellent customer services and my parcel arrived on time. A one off? Maybe. Though given this experience I will not hesitate to try HDNL again.

I ordered something of amazon for one day delivery. the postman came but didnt bring it so i looked at who was delivering it. it turned out to be the home delivery network. i researched them and started to worry. reviews had been saying how rubbish they were. but at 4 o'clock my parcel came as it was supposed to. i will use them again happily.

After reading the reviews on here I was really worried that my delivery would take ages. It came 2 days after dispatch without any problems and it was expected to take 3-5 days. The tracking service was really helpful, although I found that the updates were available on Parcel2go.com before on HDNL's website.

“Quicker than expected given time of year”

Virgin Media said they were going to have to ship me a replacement SuperHub on the Monday before christmas, they said that it would normally take 2-3 days but with the christmas rush I should expect it to take 5-7 days. I was happy with this given the time of year. However, the SuperHub turned up less than 24hours after speaking with Virgin Media, delivered by HDNL. Thanks for the superb service!

“HDNL Reading - a very pleasant surprise”

I knew I would have to go out between 14:00 and 16:00 so I called the Reading office to ask if they had any idea when my delivery was due. The very pleasant lady on the 'phone spoke to her boss, and to the delivery driver, and promised me delivery before 13:00. The delivery driver, an extremely polite and friendly young man, arrived at 12:40. I have missed HDNL deliveries before, so suggest that you always call the depot office and ask if they can give you an idea of the delivery time. It's not in their (and particularly the driver's) interest to find nobody home.

“A rare positive review”

Having previously experienced a supposed next day delivery parcel sitting in their warehouse all week, being scanned daily but not put out for delivery until I phoned to find out where my parcel was, I was a bit worried when I heard my package was being delivered by HDNL. However, on this occasion, I couldn't fault them. A phone call gave me a two hour delivery slot and, this morning, fifteen minutes before they arrived, another phone call to say they were on their way. The delivery guys had been working since 4am but were exceptionally helpful and asked where we wanted the (enormous and very heavy) box put and didn't just dump it inside the front door for us to manhandle later. After reading some of the previous reviews, I suspect my experience is quite rare. It's a shame they can't give this level of service more often - they'd have a lot more satisfied customers.

“HDNL / Yodel review”

I have used HDNL a few times, and were quite worried having read the reviews. I have used them to deliver to my work address, and although the first delivery was not made (due to our front desk being closed), they delivered successfully the next day. The progress of this (e.g. loaded onto van / returned to depot / loaded onto van) I could check online. I have used HDNL / Yodel over the past two days at home for both a collection and devivery. Collection went smoothly, again checking progress online. Today's delivery was before lunchtime, and I could check progress using their tracker tool. Very satisfied with their service. Admittedly, if you are not at home, they may have to redeliver, but I am sure this is the same with many courier companies. Compared to Royal Mail tracking, which only tells you that your item has been posted at a post office 2 days or so ago, HDNL offer a better service in my experience.

“Fantastic driver”

The DSA company I work with use HDNL as one of their couriers. I've been their customer for 18 months, with a minimum of two deliveries each month and have never had a problem. The only time they didn't make the next day delivery was in the heavy snow - as we couldn't get out, I'm not surprised they couldn't get in. My regular driver is friendly and helpful, never complaining about the 11 steps up to the front door, even when my order is large and heavy. I don't doubt some people have problems, but I can honestly say they have been excellent for me.

“Got every delivery on time, in perfect condition and...”

I have a small home run business in Lincolnshire, the drivers we have are always happy and deliver on the day they are supposed to. If we want it delivering on a different day this is sorted without fuss and they keep to the new day. Our drivers will leave the items in a secure loaction (usually around the back), if the weather is bad they will try to leave it with a neighbour. It seems the service is great in some areas of the country and awful in others - HDNL need to improve in the bad areas and find out what is going on otherwise they are going to lose business! We have had over 100 items delivered within the past few months and have received every single one on time without fail. It is clear from people we have spoken to and the companies who supply us that the service you get from HDNL seems to vary quite a bit depending on where you live - it is great in our area but clearly not in others! City-Link is awful in our area, they have lost or damaged about 20% of our parcels!!! Service seems to vary with this company as well as we have heard they are great in other areas of the UK. I guess this is a debate and customer moan that will go on for some time! Courier delivery services will never be able to please everyone!

I ordered a parcel using Parcel2Go, it was a great service. I traked the parcel being picked up, sorted, received in at Southampton Depot and loaded to a van. I got the parcel, which needed a signature, at my house and the driver was polite. I have had several orders since my first, the driver is always in my village around the same time, better than Royal Mail who seem to be unable to grasp that I live in the House and not the Cottage next door. One other thing, all the people that complain seem to live in Flats, they do relise that this is a home delivery service not a flat delivery. Flats are always difficult to get into and saying that the drivers should disturb all your neighbours to get in when he would have rang you first, get real.

<br/>I find your remarks on those who live in flats quite alarming. Like I posted elsewhere, a delivery company who refuses to deliver to a 'flat' is not a successful delivery company at all.

<br/>Most 'flats' have door entry, so yes, a driver would actually have to pull his finger out and 'buzz' to get a response. Most 'flats' have outside mailboxes, so leave a card in the appropriate one. Most high rise flats have elevators, so drivers can actually go to the front door and post a 'while you were out' card. Or maybe they worry in case the lift has broken down? Surely most 'flats' have stairs to climb? Or is that too much of an effort? Some other 'flats' are part of a big house, which has been converted. “This is the second time HDN has bee used by a retailer...”

This is the second time HDN has bee used by a retailer that I have bought from online, and the second time I have reciieved faultless service! Both times the item has been delivered when they said it would be, both time the condition was perfect. There was one funny moment this time when I was tracing the parcel online and was told it had got to the depot, then loaded onto the driver's van, but then a couple of hours later it was back in the driver's van and was with me later that afternoon.

However, although I have not had any problems I would probably not reccomend the company because of all the negative reviews it has had.

Saying that, people spread bad news more readily than they spread good, so if you a reading this waiting for a package, don't despair!!!

I hope that you don't have teh mis-fortune to reciev more items through HDNL (Yodel).

<br/>In the past 5 years these guys have made my life a misery. Given the option by retailers, I will always now choose Royal Mail.
