The people at CameraWorld have decided that not going through the trouble of dealing with returns and refunds is worth the potential loss of future business. Even though they state on their website that they offer a 14 day return period, they simply ignore return requests. It would be one thing if they responded and perhaps gave you a reason as to why they won't accept a specific return, but instead they simply ignore your emails. And when I called, they guy I spoke to asked a couple of random questions while literally pretending to type something on a keyboard. Rather embarrassing.

“Take orders for stock they don’t have”

Ordered online said product would be delivered 1/4 working days 5th day asked where my order is told no stock but took payment sham company taking your money for stock they don’t have STAY CLEAR

“Products not in stock”

Product marked IN STOCK is actually not in stock. Was promised this will be shipped after 2 days. After 2 days i had to call to check whats happening with my order and was told they still don't have stock. No apology, no solution offered - i simply have to wait. Not mentioning that the guy who picked the phone did sound like he doesn’t care at all. - other pathetic thing is that they charged me for next day delivery ! They charge delivery fee for 2000£ order. Huge disappointment. First and last time Cameraworld. Also you should change your mission statement.

“They are selling products they know for a fact are out...”

They are selling products they know for a fact are out of stock. They will take your money and then send you an email stating the product is out of stock. But still to this day you can purchase the product on their website. The item was over £1000 and I’m still waiting for a refund. I wouldn’t recommend them at all. Thinking about reporting them to ombudsman.

“Totally ignored”

Having found and read through their web site blah, I filled in the enquiry form for some equipment,around £2k worth. No reply after 4 days despite emailing them to request a reply. Several days later, still no reply. Do these people never read reviews? Waste of time and space. Avoid.

“Beware”

Bought a very expensive camera. Assistant had a blank vacant stare, not knowledgeable at all about this particular Camera or seemingly anything at all !! Seemed very reluctant to talk, almost if I was interrupting something. Very very off putting . Nevertheless I purchased and three days later sent it to repair centre under warranty. Decided to deal direct with Camera manufacturer instead of Camera World. Never again will I deal with these people.

“Dreadful Service”

I ordered a Domke bag, they called to say it was out of stock and would be 1-2 weeks max. I ended up chasing them over two weeks later and was told they would look into it and call back, they never called back, I chased the following day and they were very unhelpful and said it would be another few days at least which then became a week! Rude and unhelpful, apparently the website isn't linked to a stock system and this is in the Terms and Conditions, they guy actually said "if you do a bit of digging in there you will find it somewhere and you need to read them before buying" I pointed out it should be made clearer from the outset, and the very fact he said I would have to dig admits that it is unfair, not clear and misleading, his response was it will have to be left at that. I asked for the order to be cancelled, I await confirmation. Would not use again, would never recommend, their service is attrocious.

“Very poor service”

Ordered a kit at the chelsmford branch, they were doing an offer on a lens kit but didn't have one of the lens's in stock, they happily ordered it for me & took the full amount and I was told to expect delivery within the week. Called them a week later and they were going to call me back no one bothered calling, so I called again to be told they had no idea when they were getting the delivery! Very helpful indeed! All they could offer was a part refund so I could go elsewhere and order, appalling customer service, certainly won't be using this mob again!

“Not helpful”

I went to Wells st branch ready to purchase an expensive lens. The salesperson didn't seem at all interested and instead continued to unpack some bags . I asked him about the availability of the lens and was met with a snotty , haughty reply, that they hadn't stocked that lens as it wasn't popular. When I advised him that it was on their website , he replied that they don't have the same stock?! He was only interested in selling the more expensive L series version of the lens , which he dubbed as the " luxury" version......and that this version was so much better than the version I was after . ( well the web reviews beg to differ) . I've been totally put off ever visiting here again

“Avoid!!!”

I went into the London store 3 weeks ago to look for a camera. The man who assisted me was helpful but not all that knowledgeable about basic digital camera specs. I ended up buying a camera somewhere else. I went back to Camera World London to look for a lens for my new camera and got a different middle-aged guy who was downright abrupt in his manner, rude and just plain unhelpful. I asked to see a few lenses and by the third lens he was clearly irritated about having to do his job so I walked out and left him standing there mid sentence. Appaling attitude! Needless to say I won't be supporting them and they surely don't deserve business having staff with attitudes.

“consistently poor service”

At the moment I am waiting delivery of lightroom 3 from Camera World, I called to query the time it has taken and was informed "we have no outstanding software for delivery" when I askede when it was despatched I was informed that there were no records available as they are filed as soon as the transaction has been paid, so he could not tell me. When I remarked this was the third time I have purchased goods from them and the third time there has been a delay I was told "well the post office is the common factor not us" The persons manner was brusque and antagonistic and he said "goodbye sir"and hung up. Needless to say I will not be making any more purchases from Camera World.

“dont buy online from Cameraworld”

I attempted to order a Nikon D5100 Ultimate Travel Kit for £1,007.00 using Cameraworld website. I filled out the form and put in my credit card details then I was directed to the security process with my own credit card company. The next message that came on my screen was that the card had been declined and that I should contact my credit company. Following this I then proceeded to ring my credit card company to find out why the credit card had been declined. The credit card company informed me that the payment had actually gone through on my card. I then tried to contact Cameraworld using the on-line telephone number. This number appeared to be defunct. I then rang the Cameraworld office in London and was told that the order had not been completed, that because at some point during the filling out of the forms on-line there was an error the payment had gone to some intermediate security company that Cameraworld used, who would hold my money for three to five working days! I find this appalling and outrageous. Surely if there is a problem with the form filling I should have been notified at the time - not the monies removed from my account. So, now I do not have the camera I wished to purchase and I am minus £1000 from my credit card account. I asked to speak to a manager, but was told the best form of contact was to communicate by email. This whole process - or non process - has caused me considerable inconvenience and stress. They failed to get back to me... that's surprising!!!! Be warned if you are thinking of buying from Camera world.

“Utterly rubbish service”

These guys were rubbish from start to finish. The first guy I got on the phone told me they had the camera in stock (Nikon D3100), that he would put one aside for me, and that they closed at 5.30pm. After looking at their website, I noticed that they closed at 5pm - when I rang to check, they said that in fact they normally close ten minutes before their official closing time of 5pm! So I spent 40 mins racing into central London (we wanted to use the camera that same night) and got there 10 mins before 5pm. When I got there, they couldn't find the camera that had been set aside for me (?), and only had the same camera+lens but without VR; they said they could get it delivered to me within a couple of days, but when I explained I needed it that night, and was about to leave, they: 1) told me I couldn't use the camera the same night anyway, as it would need to be charged; 2) that I didn't need VR, and could save myself £35 by buying the non-VR version they had in stock. This is rubbish: 1) when I did buy the camera (elsewhere), it charged fully in 1 hour (while sipping coffee at a cafe); 2) an absolute expert (professional photographer and trainer), who actually bothered to ask us the right questions about how we will use the camera, advised us that we *definitely* need a VR lens. In other words, I got the impression these guys would say anything to make a sale - NOT what I would call good, unbiased advice. Camera World are exactly the same price as everyone else for this camera (I'd just selected them for what I hoped would be better service), so I would highly recommend you go elsewhere.

First vist to the Chelmsford shop, was very promasing with intrest and help from the salesman.

BUT when it came to placing an order over the phone, they couldn't be botherd to even return my call after checking delivery with Nikon. When I called back I was told to buy elsewhere as they could not even get a delivery date. So I spnt my £2800 elswhere and have just spent anouther £1100 elsewhere. They obviously dont need your money so I would recommend buying from somone who will give you some survice

If you had the same attitude toward the shop as you do towards spelling then I can see how there would be confusion. Too many people can not be bothered in the way they present themselves in shops or in online reviews.

I ordered a lens, and paid an extra £14.99 to have it couriered the next day as I needed it urgently for work.

The next day came and went, "It'll be there soon" they said every time I phoned them. After four more days of phoning they responded "Oh, well we don't actually stock that item, it'll be a couple of months until it's in, but we'll hang on to your order for you" Oh how kind.

Avoid at all costs, especially if you need something urgently.

Having given Cameraworld in Chelmsford many chances to prove they are a good, helpful shop I am dissapointed to say I will not be buying in there again. Each time I leave I feel annoyed. I had some problems with a lens but instead of actually listening to me they treated me like an idiot, didn't believe there was anything wrong with it so had not actually tried testing it out properly as suggested. They eventually agreed to order in a new one. Then the assistant said, I know theres nothing wrong with it and deep down you know theres nothing wrong with it! I am a professional photographer and I was treated as though I knew nothing, one particular man is always rude. I will never buy anything from there again, most things are cheaper on Amazon anyway and their customer service is the best.

I was unhappy with the camera I bought and they were very unhelpful, they told me the camera was fine and assumed it was me who could not use it which is not true. I told them I thought the picture quality was bad and took the camera back to them with all original parts and the only reason they could find not to exchange was that I had torn the plastic bag the camera was packed in. Ridiculous!!
