This phone was one of my favorite phone that I ever owned. I still think of it that way now having owned an iPhone and a Droid. Now of course they are smartphones and can't really be compared. But the quality and durability of the Samsung SCH-8500 keeps me thinking fondly of it. It could also have something to do with the craptastic LG TP5200 that I had after it and broke easily. They replaced the model with the 5250 quickly. The SCH-8500 worked flawlessly and I would not hesitate to buy a Samsung phone in the future.

I've had my Samsung 8500 mobile phone since it came out. I have to admit that this is the most perfect phone I have ever seen except the slow modem. Now that A600 is out, I want to get that one only because I'm trying to access the Internet and 8500 does not work due to its slow modem. Everytime I went to the store to see if I can find something that can beat this phone I walked out with my 8500. All the features are useful, and as I said except its generation, it's a full package phone.

I've had my Samsung 8500 mobile phone for 3 years now. I use it heavily every day. Never had a problem. Not only is it a great phone, but I keep going to the store looking to see if I find a better phone with more features and so far I keep walking out with my old 8500. I own two batteries so one is always charging while the phone stays on 24/7. This phone is a work horse and by far the best phone I've ever had. It has yet to break. Don't leave home without it.

I have owned a Samsung 8500 mobile phone for about six months. I have no problem with Sprint or the phone.

The Samsung 8500 flip phone is a lightweight mobile phone but has a sturdy construction. The phone is full featured with all the important and none of the useless features. Easy to read keys, easy access to menus and options and very easy setup make this phone extremely practical for my use. This is a very intuitive phone. I have read a couple of reviews regarding the dropping of calls with this phone. My service provider is Sprint and I have not experienced any extraordinary dropped calls within my city or on my travels. Interestingly, on business I travel to very small towns within the U.S. and find the reception to more than adequate. Overall, the best mobile/cell phone I have owned to date.

I have owned the Samsung 8500 phone for about 1 1/2 years. My service is through Sprint. I have yet to drop a call, people hear me very clearly and the only time I took it in the Sprint store was to update. This has been the best phone I have owned. For the value and style is great. It is a shame that they discontinued this phone but I hear that an upgrade of this phone is coming soon.

I completely regret purchasing the samsung 8500 ever since I got it I have wanted it to throw it out the window so many times.

I have service for my Samsung 8500 flip phone through Sprint and got this phone 2 days after it was introduced almost 2 years ago. I've had very little trouble with it except that the battery doesn't last more than a day and a half with average use, and it seems to have a hard time keeping a strong signal (lose calls now and then). My wife's Sanyo SCP 4500 gets better reception than my Samsung 8500. I like the compactness of the flip phone design, and the voice activated dialling feature is great. If you use an earplug with a mic - the voice dialling feature makes things really easy.

Overall the Samsung 8500 is a good phone. Durable, clear voice conversations, plus all the features including the voice recorder. Good for business people, and students alike.

This phone is very small, easy to handle, looks very nice. The display is very clear, with the aid of backlight and nicely legible font. The options are very easily accessible, with quite a few shortcuts provided. The great memory allows for several hundred name/phone# entries. Added bonuses are the web-browser capability and voice entry.

I agree with the review about the Samsung phone. My friend has a Samsung 3500 and I have a Qualcomm 2700 phone. At the same place his Samsung phone used to go out service once in a while, and my qualcomm was still connected. Is this a coincidence too?
Both of us had the Sprint PCS service.

Arbitrary voiding of warranty by repair center due to corrosion on connector renders phone unrepairable even on a customer paid basis. In an engineers judgement, this makes the phone unfit for service.

The Samsung 8500 mobile phone does everthing plus more.
Nothing out yet to beat it.

Didn't like the phone.. Most of the time it's out of service saying looking for service..
yeah u might say that it could be the service provider.. but I had a Nokia before it used to work perfectly fine where my new samsung dosen't work..

The phone was most likely on home service only. This can happen if the terrain is rough or there is not a tower near by. I have the phone and there are some dead spots in the town that I am in. Otherwise it is a great phone!

hey!!!!! s-s-stupid with the nokia. the Samsung 8500 is a better phone as a whole. you tried one phone, there could have been a defect with the 8500 you tried, or when the phone was programmed the home sid could have been incorrect or most likely the prl was not updated to the local towers.
<br>so before you go passing judgement, think!
