I had just a feeling, nothing more that something was in the air at work so I looked around for mortgage and income protection. I'm fortunate to have a £50k salary and hard as I tried I couldn't find a company that could cover my wages if I lost my job. After days looking and comparing I have to recommend AntInsurance. I was able to cover £2000 a month on my mortgage and another £2000 a month on the rest of my income, no other company was able to offer me £4000 a month cover. They are the cheapest and they only have a 60 day exclusion period which means if I am made redundant after just 2 months I can still claim, which is great, all the others I saw make you wait at least twice that long. Antinsurance were very friendly and explained they are a brokers and several months ago they moved to Lloyd's of London so any new people like me have Lloyd's of London cover. I'm delighted with my deal and if things change I can easily move but as Lloyd's controls the price and it has remained constant throughout the recession I'm confident the deal is good and you can't get a better insurer - impossible. For those still looking, I found them at www.antinsurance.co.uk

ANT wrote to existing customers saying they had found an underwriter who would maintain the premium level, and moved the policyholders to Adminicle who promptly raised the premiums by massive amounts. if existing policyholders go to ANT's website and get a quote for a new policy, the premium levels appear to be approx 33% lower.
A novel way of looking after your customers!

I spoke with Ant Insurance the other day. They mentioned that the increase in premium was due to the economic downturn and that other companies are experiencing the same thing although I don't know if that true. They did seem terribly apologetic

Ant Insurance was good to start with. Charged me £25. Later on increased to £36 which was understandable due to the economic situation. However, lately I have received a letter stating that the insurance policy will be passed onto Alpha insurance from 01/06/2009 and the insurance has been hiked to £67. The trouble is I cannot change the provider due to the fact that others have 6 months exclusion period.

Ant Insurance have increased their premium 4 fold in just over a year making them now one of the most expensive providers of income protection insurance. I would not recommend them for this reason. They have a clause in their terms and conditions allowing them to increase the policy premium which they seem to use freely.

Once again for the 2nd time in 12 months Ant Insurance have doubled my premium!!!!
I took out redunancy protection insurance 18 months ago Cost £15 per month covering £1000 of my income for 12 months.
Six months later cost doubled to £33 per month. Just got another letter (05/05/2009) its being doubled again to £58.

I would recommend Ant insurance to anyone in the UK that needs quality insurance for Mortgage Protection, Loan Protection and Income Protection. I have always been afraid to trust insurance providers but this was not the case with Ant Insurance as they were honest from the start and I received exactly what I expected and what was initially explained to me.
