“Day 4 (the hump day)”

Ive been on the maple syrup diet for 4 days now, its not as hard as you may think. However i attempted it on a day in which i was hungover and failed so prepare the night before, i.e. dont drink lol, in fact they say youre supposed to "ease in" for 3 days before the diet drinking natural soups and orange juice, however i didnt know about this at the time. Anyway, I have recently put on around 20 pounds and weigh around 136lbs (i am used to a small figure and am short) and on my 4th day i have a flat belly and a less-rounded face! They also say that day 4 is the "hump" day which is supposed to be the hardest and to be honest im not struggling really. Ive had mcdonalds around me today, have been in and out of ther fridge (to smell the food haha), been supermarket shopping AND I WORK IN A RESTAURANT, and if i can resist eating for 4 days so far, dont tell me you cant!! So, the lemonade drink is yummy, just make sure you experiment with the water added to the maple and lemonade (i found the more water the better).I also only used a small ammount of pepper as i ddnt like the taste but got there in the end. The salt water flush was HORRIBLE on the first day and i couldnt do it, however the next day i made it in concentrate (2 tsps and a small amount of water) and added a small amount of lemon juice and took a sip, and then a sip of water, and so on. The laxative tea im drinking is yummy, its by pukka and contains aniseed fennel and some other natural igredients. Ive only really been drinking 4 glasses a day and havve been fine, but its effective because as soon as you feel hungry/weak you can have a glass and feel fine, i actually like the feeling of emptiness i have in my belly its motivating. Furthermore the craving and want for food, i.e. cakes, cookies, burgers chips etc i have learnt is a mental habit rather than a need. When you start you think in your head 'should i eat' 'arr i really fancy fried chicken' simply dismiss this crazy idea and do something about it - take a nap or go on a walk or a drive, just anything to avoid that state of mind, THIS IS KEY TO THE DETOX, without this in mind you are likely to fail. I plan to do this until day 10, and think im going pretty strong, i feel strong and i feel motivated and better about myself and life in general - i guess this is the spiritual cleansing they speak about. I will reblog to tell people how much i have lost on day 10.

“Works but messes up your health :(”

Hi! I have recently completed the lemon maple syrup diet (for 5 days only) and would like to give my thoughts. On the plus side it worked, I lost a total of 4 kilos in 5 days - I have never been overweight but wanted to get rid of unnecessary body fat. Needless to say, people noticed it straight away saying I look noticeably skinnier, especially in my arms. I also lost few centimetres of my waist. It is all about self-control and I found it not too difficult to not eat proper food and just have the drink. I also did the salt water flush a couple of times. Now... the huge minus side. This diet completely messed up my defense system and I have pretty much been ill for nearly the 3 weeks that I have been off the diet. The next day after stopping eating I got a food poisoning of some sort (have never had one in my life before), although my friends had the same food they didn't contract the poisoning, I got it as of course my body's defense system was down. Straight after food poisoning followed an infection in my tooth, again I don't usually get this problem, and a week after being treated with antibiotics, I got a ridiculously sore throat for few days with scary looking stuff in my throat. Once I got rid of that, the infection in my tooth has now come back and I will get another set of antibiotics. Overall a diet that really works, but it has not been worth messing up my health over it. I am generally a very healthy person and it is overwhelming to have one illness after another since this diet. Unfortunately I cannot recommend the diet for this reason :( I would not advise my friends to do it. If you have a holiday coming up and want to shed some kilos quickly please do another form of diet, where you can still eat fruit etc and consume a lot of drinks. This one is too drastic and you may not end up making it to your holiday at the end. I really hope it helps xx

I will start this diet tomorrow, I'm a young woman I only weight 125 pounds but because i'm short I want to weight 110 pounds. I got today all the ingredients so I will be posting to all of you how I'm doing so you can be motivated too....My friend is in her 7th day today and she has lost more than 12 pounds. I can't wait to start and see the results. Will let you know if that really works on me. =)

I am currently on day 6 of the maple syrup diet. I am a size 10 but want to fit into size 8 jeans (UK), so I am not a large person. I have already lost 3.5k/7lbs which consequently is mostly water. I had body stats done beforehand and I had them done again today and I have only gone down 2& in body fat. This diet IS effective in reducing water retention as you are constantly flushing it out with liquid and it is good for breaking food addiction habbits. It does help with skin, hair and nails but ONLY because it is dehydrating your body. As it reduces calorie intake it will make you lose weight/inches but note that the weight you lose is not all fat weight.
If it were at 7lbs, I would fit into my jeans already!! To drop a dress size you would have to lose a huge amount of weight on this diet so please dont get too excited by the scales. Good Luck All!

This diet rocks. To start with you need to have a lot of self-control and will power otherwise you will not be able to do it. And this diet is only for Fat people. I didnt follow the diet to the T because I cant just survive on liquid. I had 7 glasses of the mixture everyday. in breakfast i used to have two digestives and a cuppa tea. then in the mid morning i used to have 2 apples or 2 pears. And in lunch I used to eat 2 spoons of boiled brown rice, two spoons of lentils and one cucumber. And in dinner one fruit. The next day I lost 1 kilo. On second day i lost another kilo. on 3rd day i lost 500gms. on 4th day i lost another kilo. On 5th day i lost 1.2 kilos. then i quit the diet. It was saturday and I had to go out and eat out. i didnt eat anything in morning. i had a glass of juice. then in lunch I had KFC fried chicken and mojito(no carbs). in the evening i had few bites of snacks and few shots of whiskey. Next morning(sunday) i got up late and str8 ate lunch at the buffet and i hogged like a cow. i didnt eat anything after that and today is monday. I weighed myself and i lost 7 kilos in seven days!

I have been trying to lose weight for the past 25 years and have done many diets. The Maple Syrup Diet is the best! I started doing it Feb 2008 and have lost about 3 stones which have come off gradually and have kept off. Most weight dropped from my stomach - Hurray! I have done about 2x 10 day stints and now do the odd day once or twice some weeks. This has now become part of my lifestyle. I combine it with nuts and dried fruit.

I started this Maple Syrup diet last Tuesday really struggled over the weekend but stuck to it and so pleased i did.
I have lost 9llbs in 6 days really motivated me to carry on for the rest of the week, hopefully will manage to lose at least a stone.
Just need to decide what happens at the end of this week, really need to keep it going.
Has anyone carried on for more than 10days ??

I've done the Maple Syrup Diet a couple of times and lost around 10lbs each time over a 10 day period. The first couple of days are the hardest but it becomes much easier after that. I do not make the drink up with cayenne pepper or ginger as I can't stand the taste. The only bad thing is trying to drink around 3 litres of liquid a day - the maple drink and water. This is a good quick fix but you need a lot of willpower. The weight does go back on afterwards.

I tried this diet for just short of a week but had to give it up because I was almost fainting even after walking. It is not safe for your body and I stick by the fact that the best way to loose weight is through a change in lifestyle and healthy eating.
