“Way too many defective lenses”

★★☆☆☆

written by Debiag on 30/06/2013

I've been wearing contacts for 25 years, and I've never had this many defective lenses! I bought a 90 day supply of Acuvue Moist Dailies because I thought they were very comfortable, and luckily unlike other user reviews I've read, I never had any problems putting them in or removing them. However, of the 90 lenses I bought (for each eye!) I would say 30 of them are unwearable. I open the container and the edges are jagged or they have visible tears in them before I even touch them. I contacted Acuvue and they wanted me to send all the defective lenses back, as if I saved and stored 30 lenses somewhere for the last 3 months. The first several times I thought maybe the one box was bad, so I threw them away of course, but Acuvue said they need them back so I now have half my bathroom counter full of containers with useless lenses in them to send back, and they may not even send me a refund! I would not buy these lenses again, and after dealing with the Company, I will not buy any Acuvue lenses if this is how they treat their customers.

“Blurry, dry and swims around your eyes”

★★☆☆☆

written by on 27/07/2012

I was started on these by my contact lens specialist. It nearly put me off contacts for good and made me think contacts were a lost cause for me! After the initial bedding in process of wearing them for half hour, 1 hr, 2 hrs, 4 hrs so on. I started getting stabbing pains in my eyes after the 4hr mark and would have to blink frantically to see. They had to be removed immediately. Pointless waste of money if I could only wear them for four hours a day. They would also get very blurry after a few hours, and I'd have ghosting and blurring "around the edges", like the lenses were getting caught on my eyelids, or there was something trapped under the lens. They also have a habit of swimming around my eyes when I blinked, which gets annoying after a while. The worst thing was that they caused my eyes to be really really dry, and no amount of rewetting drops would help. My contact lens specialist had exactly the same problems and switched me to the 2-week Acuvue Oasys for Astigmatism - much better fit, better clarity, better quality, they don't tear as easily and are more durable and better quality.. just better overall. Get the Oasys instead!

“Just tried on both Acuvue moist and Acuvue TruEye”

★★☆☆☆

written by on 19/07/2011

I just tried on both Acuvue moist and Acuvue TruEye to figure out which contact lens better suited me. In my opinion Acuvue TruEye won by a LONG SHOT, and these are my reason: Acuvue moist are EXTREMELY moist, they went over the top. they are so moist that they slip from my eye and don't adjust. I suddenly look to the left and the contact will not move with the eye due to the slipperiness or take a while to re adjust. Other than that they stick to your finger and can flip inside out without u noticing when trying to put them on. I started researching and there are many people that have this issue, but again I can only speak for myself. I took off the Acuvue moist after hoping for them to adjust over time (they didn't) and tried on Acuvue TruEye. I can say that I do not have the slippery problem with these contact lenses. They were easy to put on and adjusted quickly to my eye, they move with it and i do not feel them at all. It is also important for me to state that i suffer from dry eye (not all the time) but don't have an issue with them. Another thing worth mentioning is that when I know I will return home I use Acuvue Oasis (which are not one a day) I can say that the quality in these lenses are MUCH higher than the one a day, I only use one a day when I know I might not get home and I cant take my kit with me. I recommend people to use one a day only when they have to. Plus they are more expensive =)

“I switched from regular daily Acuvue to moist & within...”

★★★☆☆

written by on 01/11/2008

I switched from regular daily Acuvue to moist & within a few hours my right eye turned red and started swell up. I thought I just got something in my eye so I took out my contact and for the next few days used my old daily contacts with no problem.
When I got around to using the moist, the exact same problem, only in my right eye even though I use them in both eyes. Going to go back to the old standard. Not sure why I have this reaction but I've read its pretty common, going to the doctor next week to make sure there isn't any damage to my eye.

That probably depends on your eyes, you, your tears, etc etc. It also probably varies widely from person to person. I used to wear hard contacts (not permeable, hard!) for 14 hours once a week. No problems. I was told that was not possible. Obviously it was.
