Spitfire is a great beer. It is a lovely warm, reddish ale in clear bottles and sold in most decent supermarkets or off licences. It is also available on draught but I don't see it up in't North that often (though I rember Wither spoons did a promotion for it a while back so may have it in some places) The flavour is a nice combination of the pleasant malty, nutty initial taste, with a nice level of bitterness from the hops especially afterwards. Often you get beers that are too heavily hopped, and can taste a bit perfumey. Or sometimes beers can be very dark and syrupy which can be cloying. Spitfire hits it spot on in the middle, beautifully balanced. Great in the summer with a BBQ (especially with the 10-packs of stubby bottles they do).
That first taste on a Friday night after work is worth the week's waiting!
The marketing can be a little jingoistic, with references to the Second World War. No need! It was 70 years ago! Let it go!
