I was a loyal PowerNet Global customer for years and then moved out of the country. My phone line was disconnected and so I assumed that when my service ended so did my charges from Powernet Global. Not the case. They continued to take a fee every month and when I called to say that I wasn't receiving service and didn't understand the charges, they said that I hadn't personally called to cancel and therefore continued to receive the charges. As I no longer was using that credit card (different country), I didn't realize until I had quite a big bill with an interest charge. When I explained that I was unhappy with the scenario they left me in the cold. When Skype and other VOIPs are taking over the long distance market, one would think customer service would be even better. Well, Powernet Global has lost this customer and I'll be sure to tell others about my experience.

I found this review very helpful because...I've used their long distance services for years, but there was some company change over a year ago and since then the rates have gone up without notice. My local phone company now has better rates than this company. Recently the intrastate rates were raised to 25 cents a minute. WITHOUT NOTICE. Since I call in state more than out, and receiving an unexpectedly high bill, I changed quickly at the phone company, but I still got a bill later for basic service and taxes even though I'm not using them anymore, because I failed to call Powernet Global to cancel the service. Customer service was cold and rude, but not unexpected considering they likely have to deal with other dissatisfied customers. I'll happily pay the phone company rates to be free of this company. I am taking the time to find every review site I can to let folks know about this "alleged" HA! rip-off !
