Went for a meal sunday 12 june . Order was taken quickly and the food was out within 5 minutes. The portion size was poor , something you would have given a 5 year old child. We then proceeded to eat the roast beef dinner but it was of such poor standard we could not eat it. The beef was tough and chewy as if it had been micro waved. i have eaten in many restaurants but this is the first time i could not eat the food and felt compelled to complain about the meal.we paid for our drinks and left. i personally would not reccommend this restaurant.

Convenient location, good parking availability and pleasant exterior. That's where the positives end. Dark and dreary interior, grumpy staff and the food was awful. Had a chicken pasta dish that was over powered by garlic and resulted in an evening of sickness. Shall not return!

Today, 19 Sept. 2014, at 7 am, My mother n me arrivied and took a seat and too waited also no clean the table some glasses on the table. We waited too long least 15 mins. I wave the man come at last. We order menu and we waited too long. Real poor staff's coz menu is too expensive coz we waited too long for this a prices. We re not happy. We never back to Gables restuarants again and again. I would says 1 star not 3 star. My view.

Poor service. I arrived and took a seat and waited nearly ten minutes for a menu. No one came near us so I eventually approached the girl at the till to obtain a menu myself. A further 10 minutes had passed and no one had came near our table to see if we were ready to order or even offer us a drink. At that stage we got up and left went to a restaurant in the local golf club nearby. We had been given a table,menu within 2 minutes of entering the premises.

A GROUP OF US HAD A CONFIRMATION MEAL AT THE GABLES COULD NOT BELIEVE HOW SLOW THE SERVICE WAS WAITING OVER AN HOUR FOR OUR STARTER AND LONGER AGAIN FOR THE MAIN WHEN IT DID EVENTUALY ARRIVE IT WAS FREEZING WOULD DEFO NOT RETURN

Was in the Gables last night for dinner and have to say I was very disapointed with both the food and the service. I paid £11.50 for a curry which was so bland and I also left the place hungry. I was with others who didnt eat any of their meal.
Terrible attitude from the management when we complained.

I found this review very helpful because... i had been in the gables last year with a friend for dinner and eventually after waiting 15 minutes for a menu after asking for one twice we left without eating. while we were waiting for a menu the waitress who i found very rude went and gave a menu to a family who had came in after us and still didnt come with one to us. reading this review things dont seem to have changed

Like your other reviews i was out with my family the meal was poor and bland, they diffently make good use of there freezer as all was nearly straight from it. When i complained as there was something in my plate thate shouldnt have been there our plates were quickly lifted from the whole party. When we went to pay we were charged the full ammount as the man taking the money said "we had most of it eating anyway"!!!!! we left in appauled NEVER to return again. I have told this and without ommited any details to any one who mentions the gables to me. (left out gorgy details as every time i think of it, it makes me sick

Myself and a friend walked in with no-one to greet us. Had the special meal of 2 courses for £12. Starter was tasty but my friend's scampi for main course was not of a high quality and did not taste nice. It looked and tasted like it was frozen. No-one checked us during the meal and we told the waitress at the end of the meal. She did not know how to handle the situation and did not apologise. Manager later approached us in an aggressive manner and told us we were wrong and once again no apology. We were not offered a dessert even though we were supposed to get one so we got up and left. No price deduction for the bad food or for not receiving the dessert. GABLES IS DISGRACEFUL! Will not be attending ever again, nor will family or friends. Remember, complaints travel further than compliments.

I used to eat in The Gables quite regularly but recently I have found their food has deteriorated. I tried it again on Sunday evening past. I had the steak baguette and it was tough frying steak accompanied by frozen chips and frozen peas. I was very disapointed and definitely not worth the price (the prices have increased considerably) and I definitely wont be back.

Disappointed with the food at The Gables - steak pieces were like over cooked rubber. Deserts looked as though they were bought in.
I found the food to be bog standard, low quality and over cooked.
As other customer found, staff offered me no apology for the inedible food.

I was at the gables tonight for tea with my wife and baby. I was served a dried out and overdone chicken maryland which had a piece of blue plastic freezer bag about the size of a 50 pence piece inside the coating of part of the dish. I pointed this out to the waiter who went to the kitchen to investigate having told us that it couldn't be their fault as they made all their own stuff - but did not return to apologise or offer another dish. Sickened by what else could be lurking in our food - especially with a baby eating too - we decided to pack up and go. I was astonished when, after having to wander around to try and find some staff, we were charged full price for a meal we left midway through. Disgraceful that they served contaminated food, even worse their blase and arrogant attitude when this was pointed out to them. If this is what it's like there then do yourself a favour and avoid this place.
