I own quite a few guitars, some real good ones, including a 20th Anniversary PRS Custom 22 flame 10 top, a Gibson Firebird VII, Gibson Les Paul Standard, Ibanez S series, Jackson Soloist etc. I rate this guitar with the best of them. Great shred piece, good rock piece and I'm sure that when the noise reduction circuit gets clipped it will do what a Strat can do.

My Ernie Ball Music Man Silhouettes are both 1991 vintage. One has a maple fretboard the other has rosewood. I prefer the maple. The newer models come with locking tuners (good idea); I put Sperzel locking tuners on one - 4 months and I haven't broken a string. I put 11's on both guitars and they play great, 10's feel flimsy now.
I haven't had opportunity to play a new Silhouette, but the changes are very minor - locking tuners and a gun-oil & wax finish on the neck instead of varnish. I've heard that the quality is still outstanding and the electronics are pretty much unchanged.
I recommend this guitar very highly. If I only had one electric guitar, this would be it.
I play rhythm guitar in a 5-piece band doing classic rock. My gig amp is a Fender 65 Deluxe Reverb Reissue. I'm very happy with the combination and I play without backup.
