Utter rubbish! My premium has gone up three times in 3 years and the level of cover reduced. They are also refusing to pay out on a legitimate claim, so I have contacted the financial ombudsman. Do not touch Simplyhealth with a barge pole!

“I have had 2 HSA Dental Insurance claims in , one was...”

I have had 2 HSA Dental Insurance claims in , one was for emergency on 4th February and another for the follow up on 23rd March. The first one was because a cap had broken off my tooth and the second claim was for the replacement cap. In spite of several phone calls, emails and letters to HSA I still have nothing back from them except for a letter dated 7th May telling me that my complaint is being looked into.

I do not rate this company at all and I am shortly going to report them to the Ombudsman!

“HSA Dental Insurance are refusing to pay my dental...”

written by HSAngry on 19/03/2009

HSA Dental Insurance are refusing to pay my dental claim. Throughout the entire process I have had to chase them for a response, I have not received any correspondence/decisions without having to call them first. They stalled with processing it initially saying the person dealing with it was off sick or on holiday. Then they refused it out of hand saying treatment wasn't covered. I queried this and they said the treatment was covered and the clinician would review again, they then refused the claim saying there was no evidence the work was needed. And are now refusing to accept any communication from my dentist.
I am being channelled down the complaints route, I said I'd be taking it to the ombudsman which they just said "you can't, you have to go through our complaints first".
It's very frustrating and makes me want to give up, but I know that's exactly what they are trying to make me do!!!

“Since joining HSA dental plan last October 2007 have...”

Since joining HSA dental plan last October 2007 have had my premiums increased three times! From £17 when the policy first started to now £21 per month. In the space of two months I was notified of these increases. Also with these increases they move the goal posts with regard to the amount of cover they will provide changing amount of annual limit and payback percentages. These premiums are not reflected if bought online through the internet. Very often it is quoted cheaper to sucker you in to buy the policy. Beware don't buy it! Read their small print on the policy information "Terms and Conditions" HSA have the absolute right to change any of the Terms and Conditions relating to the plan. They only have to give you one month's notice of any changes in relation to premiums and cover. How does that saying go "Buyer Beware".

“Paid into my HSA Insurance policy for a while and...”

written by bernard500 on 22/07/2008

Paid into my HSA Insurance policy for a while and needed a bridge as tooth came out after a lot of time (three months) loads calls and three appeals (done by there own has dental tech people) they refused to pay my £675 saying this treatment was not clinically necessary even after my dentist writing twice to say it was and he should know its not for me to say what treatment I need. He just wanted to give me a bite on that side. I finally decided to take my complaint to the financial ombudsman and rang has for copies of all letters.
The money has appeared in my account the next day and a letter arrived saying they have reviewed and changed their mind and decided to pay me and give me £100 compensation as well.

“HSA Dental Insurance Review - Place claim in for £250...”

HSA Dental Insurance Review - Place claim in for £250 for a set of dentures in March 08. They rejected the claim by saying that they need all dental records (my cost of £30) for their consideration whether this is cosmetic purpose. Second reason, they do not recognise dental technicians and thirdly,we should have been referred by our NHS dentist to a private dentist. All in All we have paid 5 months into this plan and HSA is laughing all the way.

written by poulter11 on 10/03/2008

I have been paying the maximum amount per month for quite awhile of £17 and I was unfortunate to have quite a lot of dental treatment which was essential, I had the treatment and sent in my claim for £2400, I am actually entitled to £2000 of that back but nearly three weeks later and loads of phone calls, I get told its still in the process line or the computers are down or the girl; dealing with it has gone home or Ill chase it up or somebody will contact you shortly I have given up.

I found this review helpful because...another possibility bites the dust, some of these Dental policies appear to be a problem in the end. Think the govt should be looking closely at these providers. As for giving up? dont, go to the ombudsman, they are absolutely brilliant at helping
