Indesit BAN12NF

Bought this model 10 months ago and can not believe I missed the amount of disillusioned costumers complaining online about the noise.

Indesits and Hotpoints - same box, different stamp - all make loud banging noises, many times a day, as the metal tubes expand and contract. After one of their engineers turned up to have a look at mine, he confirmed that its a know problem and that Indesit-Hotpoint is powerless to fix. So, tough luck for those foolish enough, like myself, to buy one.

Honestly, Do not waste your money on this pieces of junk. Do a good search. There are even youtube videos about these problems.

If the company had any morals they would warn costumers about this.

The compressor is noisey but tolerable. The main issue is a CONSTANT CLICK-CLICK noise coming from the back of the unit during the running cycle of the compressor.. It is very irritating especially if like me you got a small open plan kitchen /livingroom .I am expecting the Indesit engineer call out this Wedensday,cant wait its driving me mad !

Hi. I have just been looking for a new fridge/freezer to replace one that my mother bought 18 months ago and which is having exactly the same problem as the indesit BAN12NF. Her unit is the Hotpoint Future, and the Indesit looked very like the one we are needing to replace, so I thought I would ask for more information. On discussion with the salesman, it transpires that hotpoint own indesit, and these models are the same units but with different badges. Do not be fooled into buying the Hotpoint Future if you are looking to replace the Indesit, as you will have the same problem. I was told most fridge/freezers use the cold air from the freezer to cool the fridge technoloy.

Bought this Fridge Freezer for my 80 year old mother 11 months ago and have had the service repair engineer out four times.

The problem is the same exactly as other reviewers.

Blockage of pipe at the back of the unit (ice build up) causing the fridge not to work to correct low temperature. It's obvious the service engineers and the manufactures know there is a design fault and are putting their heads in the sand hoping for damage limitation. My mother could easily have gone down with food poisoning.PLEASE DON'T BUY THIS PRODUCT

Purchased an Indesit BAN12NF May 2008. Worked fine for 7 months. The fridge stopped working due to ice building up behind the freezer unit blocking the cold air duct. 5 further breakdowns occured between December 08 and July 09 all with the same problem - freezer works - fridge doesn't.

My last Engineer visit was this week (29.07.09)whereby the Engineer admitted that there was nothing else he could do - rang Indesit Technical support and they have agreed to replace the unit. I am still without a working fridge and have been now for 2 weeks and Indesit stated they would get back to me with a replacement proposal within 10 days!!

Bought the Indesit BAN12NF fridge freezer and within 4 weeks it had broken down in the middle of summer. Indesit were the worst company to deal with - three weeks later they repaired the fridge. I put a claim in for £130 of food lost in both fridge and freezer and they sent back a cheque for £50. After a further letter they still will not pay the full amount. Will never use them again!

Had this Indesit BAN12NF fridge freezer just over a year and have had to call an engineer out three times to rectify the same problem. Lower freezer compartment freezes over stopping cold air passing through the air ducts causing the fridge compartment to fail.Customer services is poor, they will not replace faulty fridge freezer. Have to constantly take time off work to accommodate the times when engineer can visit, currently waiting for parts to arrive so fridge can be "repaired". Stay away from this product.

Received my Indesit BAN12NF fridge freezer on the 1st april 2008, due to constant clicking called an engineer, informed new thermostat needed, this was replaced and fault still there. Engineer called again, informed new compressor needed, repaired and fault appeared to be fixed. Now back of fridge has thick layer of ice, freezer top compartment has huge amount of ice and the strangest thing if all is at the bottom on the back of the fridge freezer, on the outside there is a huge lump of ice sticking out and getting bigger. Despite having the two major components changed in just over a month Indesit insist on sending another engineer and will not replace my fridge freezer. It is clear that it is not fit for purpose and we feel we have given them ample opportunity to rectify issues. I would not recommend.
