Please be aware this a review for the 4T version.

DO NOT BUY THIS MOPED.

If you think you are getting Piaggio build quality you're really not, I've now sold mine but the bad points are as follows:

-Started very poorly
-Would not work in rain
-Cuts out whilst driving
-Panneling very difficult to work with
-Spark plug impossible to access in under 2 hours
-Very poor headlight
-EXTREMELY SLOW 30mph if you're lucky, 20 max up a hill
-The same fuel economy as my 125cc Yamaha

Good Points

-Looks ok for a 50cc
-Good storage space
-Dealers willing to work on it because parts are available

Piaggio had no idea how to fix the apparently endemic problems with the Fly 50, if you live in a bone dry, flat country then get it if you wish.

My friend bought a chinese scooter for £400 less than my fly50, it was faster, more efficient and more reliable to the point that he still has it.

I have just seen this website and comment added by avronb.
I have exactly the same problem with my Piaggio. At the moment it has been at the dealers for 2 weeks and they still can't find the problem. My bike is still under warranty, but according to piaggio the dealer can only fix it while under warranty and the chances of getting a new bike is very little. My bike also don't start anymore and I had various occassions stalling at traffic lights, even whilst driving the thing it stalls in the middle of the road! Not very safe for a girl! arghh!

Bought new six months ago, bike been back to dealer twice for non starting and stalling at junctions etc.,it is there now as i write this.
Don't be fooled into thinking you are buying an Italian made Piaggio, for if you look on the engine you will see a plate that says made in China. Unless you live in Holland or East Anglia this bike will be total embarrassment .
Two strokes have their faults, but are far more suited to 50cc bikes than four stokes.

Bought new six months ago been back to dealers twice, there now as i write this. This bike is not an Italian Piaggio, but is made in China (plate on engine states this to be so).
Unless you live in Holland or East Anglia this model will be of no use if there are any hills in your area.It is my opinion that a two stroke engine is the only unit to use in a 50cc machine.

Avronb's Response to avronb's Review

I was on the verge of selling my Fly4t when a chap at work told me to get a MALLOSSI variator fitted to the bike, I went to the dealer and he fitted one for £70, worth every penny, will cruise at 40mph, plus acceleration is far better. The variator kit has the same effect as using sport mode on a automatic car.
