“Very poor Standards.”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 06/10/2018

I find myself having to write this due to the time and effort spent resolving a problem (that I will come to later) that this company caused, and even after ringing them to try and get the issue sorted, and being promised a call back from the lady who runs the site. I wish I could remember her name as if she is the Boss ,Site Manager and if she cannot be bothered to return my call, what hope is there. I was not going to bother with the first part of the story in this review, after my aborted visit, but given what happened next I think that all should be made clear to anyone who reads this. I also feel that as you use the phrase below to describe yourselves to others, I think I need to have my say. Where you will find Honesty, Trust & Impeccable Standards I had originally seen a car they where selling on line and spoke with a young saleman on two occasions regarding its condition. It was checked and verified when I rang back being told that it was in very good condition. This was very important as I had to travel with a friend in his car for two hours (£30 in petrol) to view it and give me the option to drive it home. On the strength of his answers I also arrange a cover note from my broker at a cost of £25 to enable me to bring it back. None of this would have happened if I had been given a true and accurate description of the cars condition in the first place. Having arrived after 5pm the car was waiting for me. The outside body work was in excellent condition, however the inside was a mess, and only took a few minutes to realise that my time had been wasted, as it was not as described. i.e. in very good condition. Every door panel inside was marked, and one had a tear. The centre console was heavily scratched, as was the centre of the steering wheel!! The mats where missing (told that they had been thrown away as they where soiled) and the spare wheel cover which is normally a flat compact carpet material, looked like it had been scrubbed hard due to a spillage, and had the look of a fluffy jumper. Even the plastic sections that the boot cover attachers to were heavily marked. Lastly the rear view mirror had a chunk taken out the bottom edge that you would look at every few minutes when driving. If the previous owner allowed that to happen inside, what else was I missing? Not a car worthy of a price tag of £14500. To me it looked like a dog had often been locked inside and had run wild waiting for the owner to return, and maybe could not wait for a call of nature! I was also at the time of viewing told by a different and much older salesman that it had been Taxed ready for me to drive away. I asked why and got the answer that the post office closers at 5 and would not have been possible to tax it for me to take away. They where that sure I would buy it. The salesman said he had over 15 years experience of selling cars and must know that a car can be taxed on line 24/7. Others could well be fooled by his helpfulness. He will no doubt deny this but I have checked online and the records show it as taxed on the day of my visit. So 5 hours of time, and £55 wasted I go home with nothing. So 5 weeks later having purchased a car from another dealer I receive from the DVLA my V5C for my new car. WRONG. What I receive is a V5C for the car I viewed at Eddie Wrights car lot in Scunthorpe, but never purchased, that now has me down as the new Registered keeper! Please explain to me how having given them no money, my name and address are passed on to the DVLA saying that I acquired the vehicle, when the vehicle is still on their car lot? Were they so convinced that I was going to buy it they did the paper work before I arrived. Maybe they were happy to be getting shut of it? I am now responsible for any traffic offence that is committed by anyone test driving that car!! At the time I received the V5C I had no idea how my name could be on it. I had to go back through any notes I still had on cars I had seen and maybe test driven for clues. More wasted time. Finally Eddie Wrights of Scunthorpe site was checked, and there it was, the car that had costed me so much time and effort was still doing the same. Not a surprise its still up for sale, but just as well it was as I now had the answer I needed. So even though I am angry that I still have to sort out their mess so I ring them, give the lady on reception the details and get a promise of the call back to sort it out.As I have said that did not happen. I feel sure that they will give an excuse why it did not happen. Never got the message, busy showroom, someone never passed it on, dog ate the note......, but the bottom line it can only be discribed sloppy. Look it up, it means ; Careless Slapdash Disorganized Haphazard. I am 64 years old and I have never ever heard of anyone receive a V5C or log book in all my years for a car they did not buy. What would they tell someone that finally buys the car when there is no V5C to fill in?? I have now spent EVEN MORE TIME writing to the DVLA with all the details and asking them to remove me from the registered keeper list and exonerate me from any traffic offence this car may be involved in by anyone that test drives it. I have just received a letter back from them to that effect, which I have to use if anything happens before another name appears on the V5C. Given that it is still for sale at the same price and the same condition when I saw it, it could be along time. All this has taken over 3 months to get to this point and lots of work, as anyone reading this will clearly see and understand. So enjoy the review Eddie Wrights and learn that whereby you may get good reviews, but not everyone will accept being messed about. Its how you handle the problems that defines a good company from a poor one, and the slogan you use of Honesty, Trust and Impeccable Standards needs to be rewritten,as I have not seen any of that. One last thing. I have not said which car I hold the V5C document for. That is for you to find out. You only have a few hundred cars to check. Waste some of your own time sorting this out. You have not been put to any trouble, whereby I have been put to lots. Any remarks you write for this review come too late, you had your opportunity to resolve it when I rang you but you blow it. Any reply will only be there to hopefully justify to others reading this that you are a good company. And don't ask me to ring you if you reply. When you find out which car I speak of you will have my details you took at the time. YOU should ring me. Let other buyers decide who is wrong and if I have made this up. The only good to come from this is I never gave them any money, as looking at other reviews I could well have to travel to them again to have things resolved.

“Terrible after sale service”

★☆☆☆☆

written by ryangraham on 04/07/2016

Purchased car, however after 8 weeks the battery was flat! The car wouldn't start so was stuck in drive. Eddie rights didn't want to know and told us that the car was still under manufacture warranty and had to take it back to main dealer (ford) battery was out of warranty! But booked it in to main dealer who checked battery and found it wasn't a ford battery! Air-con was also out of gas and this led to an unexpected bill to nearly £200, extremely disappointed with the after sale service and wouldn't recommend Eddie rights to anyone. I certainly won't be going back there again.

“Pathetic dishonest irresponsible”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 26/06/2016

After driving 80 miles to Scunthorpe for a text drive we booked well in advance and confirmed on the day, we were presented a filthy car smelling of dogs and full of dog fur. The metal work was damaged and when we pointed out this, and the sawn off damaged boot cover to the salesman, he asked the manager who disappeared to " come up with an answer" made us,wait ages and then never did. Total waste of 5 hours, we are both busy professionals and wasted half a day off work, because of the casual and callous attitude of the online sales staff.

“Irresponsible,lazy,ignorant, careless online sales staff”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Doctorkulkarni on 26/06/2016

We looked at a 1 year old car, with low mileage, suiting our requirements and booked an appointment to test drive it, with 5 days notice and a 48 hour reconfirmation, as we were driving from Leicester to the showroom in Scunthorpe, nearly 80 miles away, and naturally were expecting the car to have been prepped in anticipation, indeed that was promised to us by the online sales staff. What we were offered for a test drive, was the car, in an absolutely filthy condition, with muddy footprints on the seats, a boot full of dog hair, an extremely nasty smell which made our eyes smart, a boot cover that had been sawn off by the previous owner to presumably fit a dog-gate, which was apparently never noticed by any staff member there! The wrist thing was that we had made the appointment for the test drive, the useless man who is one of the two people who are in charge of online sales, assured us that the car had NOT been previously owned by a smoker or a pet owner, as this was important to us as one of our children tends to wheeze with these triggers. We wasted 4 hours driving there and back, the options for cars are limited and if this is the casual and callous manner in which potential customers are handled, we expect this previously highly regarded family run business is soon going to fold up. Full marks to the sales in charge who unfortunately bravely tried to lie and cover up his colleagues' shortcomings but soon got as frustrated as us and has promised to let the owners know and told us to expect a response from them. Well, we are waiting....!

“Stay away! 2,000 pound better deal at ford garage! ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Goodwin107 on 04/06/2015

Firstly I recommend people to stay away from this company, my reasoning is I took in my 57 plate audi a3 to trade in for a family 4 door car, I didn't want to pay much more money to exchange it. Anyway I picked a 56 plate basic ford focus, the car was up for 4800. They offered me 3000 for my audi which I already thought wasnt a great deal as I was getting rid of my newer audi for a older car and paying 1,600 too. Any way I had been using my husbands car to drive around in as I struggled to get the baby seat in and out of the back with it being a 3 door, and the audi had been stood for a month, they said they would pick it up to save taxing and I would pick the focus up the day after. However the next day a very cocky man spoke to my husband suggesting the car was undriveable and they would give us 2000 for it, luckily my dad is a fitter and went to look at the audi and asked why they could reason dropping a thousand pound, my dad received a vague response, and everyone involved was very rude. We decided we would have our car back and not go through with the deal with them. However there was a very good outcome to this, I went to another garage got 4000 thousand for my car and 2011 ford focus instead ! It's worth shopping around and avoiding eddies at all cost. In addition Eddie wrights staff were very arrogant and rude, and when they refused to drop off the audi which I had to collect they were smirking and acting like complete immature men that you wouldn't believe were over 30!

“absolutely shocking service!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 13/04/2015

After buying my car 5 months ago it has been back in the garage 3 times with the latest visit costing me near £300. Iv had to spend more on this car in the last 5 months than I have on all the cars iv had over the 15 years iv been driving. Eddy wright had no help what so ever, I had them laughing at me on the phone when I asked them to fix it or at least pay towards fixing it. The customer service I received was the worst iv ever seen, I have never been spoke to like the way they spoke to me, I was shocked. I would NOT ever recommend this place to anyone. If you are wanting to buy through them then expect no help or service once you've handed over you money! Extremely unhappy!

“The worst experience EVER”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 13/03/2015

When I arrived there, I was pestered straight away as soon as I walked through the door. The sales man was instantly in my face trying to get me to deal with him. I told him that I just wanted to browse. He then had an attitude and said "fine" as he walked away murmuring something under his breath. Once we had found a few cars we liked, we asked the sales man if we could take it for a test drive. Which he kindly obliged to do. After we sat down and he took some details he took me out for the test drive. The car was beautiful but after debating the price I decide not to purchase that one. As I began walking out, I spotted a car I really liked with it been in my price range. I then asked to take this car for a test drive. He said only if you want to buy it. It is a hassle to get the car out the showroom. In the end he got the car out. I took this car for a drive and loved it. The sales man was more interested in all the other members of the public coming in. He then said "do you actually want to buy this?" "yes I do" I replied. When we was going through the sale he began to rush through. He didn't care about the fact the car was over £6000. Once he had promised us so much, when we picked the car up, there was nothing that he said with the car. I would deffinatley not recommend Eddie Wrights to any of my friends and I certainly wont be buying from them again!

“Unprofessional”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Colten301 on 20/01/2015

Despite booking a test drive before setting off on a three hour round trip. When we arrived we spoke to a sales man who then left us stood around for 10 minutes, we finally asked another salesman who told us the car was not ready in fact they had a mechanic trying to get it started. Not Good ! Finally when they did bring the car round the sales man pointed in a vague direction as it was obvious he didn't want to leave the warm showroom and stand around in the wet weather., he then changed his attention to another customer and was very rude. We had to go back to him and ask where the car was parked and who was dealing with us ? He finally offer to take us to the vehicle- by which point we decided we wouldn't buy from this company, if this was their service before we purchased, goodness knows what it would be like afterwards. Poor service cost you a £12,000 CASH sale. We then went to Doncaster and purchased an almost identical vehicle.

Eddiewrightcustomerservices's Comment

Written on: 20/01/2015

Firstly we would like to apologise for your experience. It was unfortunate that when the salesman went to start the vehicle the battery was flat. We replaced the battery as quickly as we could which caused a few minutes wait. We were exceptionally busy at the same time and trying to ensure everyone was spoken to and dealt with in order keeping everyone’s waiting time to a minimum. Once again we are so sorry we did not meet your expectations.

“Until we went to buy a new car a year after purchasing...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by stMcDonald186 on 29/09/2014

Until we went to buy a new car a year after purchasing one at Eddie Wright Scunthorpe, we didn't realise how terribly off we were on our finance deal. Having to pay over 18%, we only paid £1000 off the value of the car after a whole year! I'm sure our salesman was laughing all the way to the bank with the commission he must have made from us! Now on a deal from a far better company of 4% finance. Thank you Eddie Wright for ensuring we are still paying the negative equity even after selling the car you sold us. What an immoral dealership you are!

written by Roth469 on 11/08/2014

Ok so I maybe the minority here!! The car i looked at was in pre sale condition. Needed checkng and valeting etc....went back the car was superb. As I wanted to purchase this on finance we had agreed a price there and then. Well what a surprise i got when returnng a week later to sign!! the first payment was double and the last payment was 3 times as much..none of this was mentioned when we agreed price etc....so I didnt sign and because I ddnt sign I got abuse from the salesman...bearing n mnd I was the one who travelled 60 mile round trip!!! ALWAYS READ THE FNANCE PACKAGE EXTRAS ADDED ON THAT WERE NOT DISCUSSED....ONLY A FOOL WILL SIGN AND NOT READ THE SMALL PRINT. A car that was 2995 ended up been a car that was 4394 over 3 years with a deposit already been paid!!! NO CHANCE

“Great Salesman, awful after care.”

written by SidneySweeney377 on 31/07/2014

Bought my car November 26th 2013 and have had nothing but problems with it. 8 months down the line apparently it's not their problem anymore as my warranty has run out. Their excuses were when I called and spoke to the rudest woman I have ever dealt with that it was an 11 year old car-what did I expect? and It wasn't their problem anymore as my warranty had run out. They claim they spent £2000 of work on it before I picked it up to then find out after visiting them to officially complain they have only spent £800...I have to replace my gear box, breaks, electrics, air conditioning, two tires and back windscreen wiper to fully repair the car...quoted £1500-2000 to repair. I got nothing from them and walked away utterly disgusted with them. Safe to say I will not be purchasing from them again.

“Never again”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Duffyzo355 on 26/05/2014

Purchased a car from here. It wasn't a bargain, it wasn't over priced. I noticed a small bit of damage on a part near the drivers window and I stipulated that I wanted this part changed as part as a proviso of buying the car. After purchase I kept ringing to chase up this. Was kept being told we are waiting for the part to arrive. A week and a half later it went in, they had it for 4 hours. I went to collect and was told it's been replaced. I was happy....a few weeks later when I was cleaning my car I noticed that they had actually just painted over the damaged part. 2 years later I returned because I stupidly assumed they might of improved. Was offered just £4 more for my car than I could get from webuyanycar website. So much for valuing there customers.

Purchased a car from this dealership, would not go back if it was the last garage on the earth, customer services is terrible and so is the service department, have had my car just over 2 years and it has never been right since I purchased it, I have had to spend over £1200 of my own money to try and sort this car out and yet again it's back in the garage. Stay well away from this dealership..Had to give one star rating to post....not even worth that..I have spoke to several peoples who have also had a bad experience with this dealership.

written by on 14/08/2013

Looked at afar from the above had a test drive and was highly pleased with its performance came back into showroom to work out a deal, first thing we had to sit through was a d v d on paint protection then the salesman went through the hard sell of gap insurance and finally the figures to complete the deal. The trade in price was a third less than a ford dealer had offered for a equivalent model at the same purchase price which left me gob smacked I have had three valuations on my car and there's was an insult, very disappointed .

Eddiewrightcustomerservices's Comment

Written on: 04/11/2013

I am sorry you feel our valuation didn’t match the Ford dealer you visited, but every dealer can value cars differently. Quite often dealers have a lot more discount because they price cars up to give big part exchange values, especially on new cars. We are a Car Supermarket and sell cars cheaper therefore it is the balance to change a customer should consider not just the part exchange price.

Found a car I wanted on their Internet site, went for test drive and talk figures and they added an extra £100 to Internet price, when I questioned this. I was told the Internet price was to get customers through the door!! They offered me rock bottom price for my part ex and said there was no movement what so ever, then said if I pay deposit now they will lose the extra £100. I asked to speak to manager, he was extremely rude and actually said to me"I am ending this conversation now". I politely said goodbye. They rang me a couple of days later to ask if I was still interested in car. My Response was NO I WOULD BE BUYING A CAR FROM THEM! Please be careful
