I use hot water from the tap to replenish it and it is usually up to operating temperature within 5 minutes. I found that a fill lasted for about 40 minutes which is long enough if you cannot provide sufficient room ventilation. The plate is of a good size and no leaks from the hose attachment. A pity they do not supply a steam nozzle as standard.
