“very difficult service to use ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by JettSimpson243 on 30/11/2016

Making any adjustment to account is very difficult. Cannot email them have to always call. Emails go missing, and someone logged into my account 1 month ago and it was not me.

“The disaster that is Freeola”

★☆☆☆☆

written by andylaaauk on 07/01/2016

I signed up with Freeola (an entanet reseller) after previously being with ukfsn, with ukfsn I had a faultless service throughout, the only reason for leaving was the fact that we moved house and that ukfsn seemed to be difficulties. Now, Freeola, I signed up April 2015, at this point we were still in the process of moving, so the service wasn't used much, however I ran a quick speedtest and was pleased that we were connected at 17500kbps, however it was the following month the problems started to show, by this time we had started to actually use the connection properly and were greeted by constant disconnects, informed Freeola about the situation and was told to check all our equipment etc to make sure the fault wasn't at our end. Over the next week or two the connection had become almost unusable sinking well under 1mbps, at this point the phone line was becoming noisy as well which would point to a fault in the line, so contacted again to report the issue, again we were told to check at our end, which we did, finally Freeola raised a ticket with BT and organised a visit by an engineer. After one cancelled visit and one non show, the engineer turned up on the third attempt, plugged their device into the master socket and the fault was traced to a rotten connection in the street cabinet. At this point I was relieved and when we connected back up over the next couple of days the connection climbed to about 14 to 15mbps, which although slightly slower I was happy with. Thinking problem over, we started to use the connection again, and while not so frequent the connection would drop when using the connection to capacity. So contacted Freeola, again they told us to check at our end, which we did, then they informed us they could make some tweaks to make the connection more stable, next day or two, the speed again started to drop and drop, so I had to contact Freeola again to explain, anyway they said they would make another tweak and that seemed to garner a reliable 10mbps connection for most of the year. At this point I was reasonably happy with the service and happy with the customer care. Problems presented themselves in November when after most of the year having a solid 10Mbps connection, it dropped to 6.5Mbps, not a complete disaster but one that warranted contacting Freeola, this is when I found out the reality of the company I was dealing with, they simply fobbed me off with an explanation that was pointing to our equipment (which hadn't changed), at this point I left it to see if the connection would recover and in December it did, actually syncing at 11Mbps, this was sort lived but the connection settled again at 10Mbps and again I was reasonably content with the service, however right at the end of December to early January the connection has been in free fall, going back down to 6.5Mbps, then 4 then 2, then 1 and then it continued 500kbps and then down to 200kbps, at this point I wasn't a happy bunny, I had contacted them will the connection was dropping, informing them of the ever decreasing speed and again was informed in no uncertain terms that they had done their part and was nothing more they could do, and informed me to take things up with BT. It has been a nightmare service really from day dot, the connection has obviously got other underlying issues but Freeola are unwilling (or more likely), unable to help, I think they have reached the limit of any technical expertise they may claim to have. So in a nutshell, a company that is happy to take your money but is largely unwilling to help regarding the actual connection, the service you pay them for. Technical expertise and customer services have to rate at horrendous. Seriously, if you are looking for an ADSL provider, please, if you value your sanity above all else, look elsewhere.

Not a very helpful review, methinks you have a personal grudge against the very folks who in my dealings with them have been nothing short of superb. Get a life and move on sunshine!

“In a word, dishonest”

★☆☆☆☆

written by BrinnyBiker on 13/08/2015

I used freeola for paid e-mail for my domain. Foolishly I transferred my domain there from LCN, who it has to be said are much better. Eventually the e-mail service started to cause problems with sending mail so I decided to move on. At this point I find it's £12 to have my domain that I paid for freed up so I could move it. A £12 'admin fee' for an automated process is DAYLIGHT ROBBERY. What really makes me fizz is that nowhere in the sign up phase is there any clear warning that transferring in your domain for free incurs a unjustifiable 'admin fee' when you want to move on. Quite frankly I consider this sort of behaviour to be dishonest, underhand, devious and slimy. Freeola and get dotted who are the same business deserve to go out of business with practices like this. Needless to say I will not deal with them again and I will make sure anybody I do web development for stays away from them as well.

If you spoke about me in such a manner you would find yourself facing a slander charge. It says a lot about Freeloa that they have not responded to such bad mouthed drivel.

“Going off their "free" email accounts”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Bo1977 on 14/08/2014

I've no experience with their ISP services, but if their "free email accounts" are a reflection - I WOULD NEVER EVER TOUCH THEM EVEN WITH A 20 FT POLE VAULT STICK. Their emails will NOT receive ANYTHING except messages from Freeola themselves, which are all adverts. The site is morass of HUNDREDS of "click this to buy this option!!!!!" buttons, it is almost impossible to navigate through the "free bits". AVOID AVOID AVOID - these people are just grifters!

“Absolutely terrible”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 16/08/2013

Don't ever ever go with these.. when you register a domain for "free hosting" it can actually only be accessed by their own broadband or dialup.. absolute joke! They don't actually make this clear until after they've taken the money from you, nowhere on there website does it say about Customer entitlement to refunds, no money back guarantee no nothing... outrageous! Have opened a paypal dispute against them, doubt it will make much of a difference

“freeola is actually far from freeola”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 18/07/2013

Free unlimited emails is advertised on their home page. Having had an exchange, in writing, with their contact team it has become apparent that unlimited is actually limited per day to 500 emails. In order to send emails you must subscribe, but it is free to receive. Very helpful. This organisation is as bad as loan shark companies. Simply avoid to build momentum to wipe them away. Amongst the most unethical companies that lies, and cheats people - purposely.

“Freeola and 'Free' services”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 31/03/2013

A bunch of complete chancers - avoid them if you can. They not only charge twice the going rate for .co.uk domains, but the 'free' email they give you isn't free at all unless you use them as your ISP or pay them £2 a month! Of course, you don't find this out until you sign on the dotted line... Go to UK2 instead - they are much cheaper, transparent and HONEST.

“Watch the hidden costs”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 08/08/2012

Irritatingly divisive. Even if they'd just call out all the many hidden charges, I don't think people would care but this cockney wideboy sharp practice is frustrating beyond belief. Here's how it works: 1. You see a service advertised as free. You spend days setting it up and when you get to the final stage, a charge is introduced. 2. You phone Freeola to complain. They state that everything is there on their T&C webpage. 3. You tell them to shove it up their collective backside and..... 4. They introduce another charge to leave. Freeola should be brought to task over this.

Do not use as they have a secret 10 tranfer out. Be warned. Use a reputable company like free virtual servers.

“Good start, but a poor end to the services, hidden...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by mattlc on 07/07/2011

I signed up with Freeola years back due to the good reviews, but have recently come across a problem when trying to transfer out. They have a hidden fee which is as much as I pay per year to them. This fee is not charged by the majority of companies out there. It is not advertised anywhere on the site. Secondly, having spoken to a representative on their premium rate line I received a hostile response to my inquiry leaving me to email my request. There were reliable and affordable, but it is not right to have hidden charges at the end of a relationship, it leaves a sour taste in the mouth.

“Dishonest at every turn. The status page is simply all...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 04/11/2010

Dishonest at every turn. The status page is simply all lies or omissions. This purportedly "free" service is actually very expensive.
Every single offering they claim to be free - isn't.
The domain name you bought (at a far higher price than advertised) ends up doubling or trebling in price after a year or two.

I'd never use this company again. Totally dishonest and misleading.
