1st Kettle lid catch broke so replaced. 2nd kettle leaked at the base so changed. 3rd kettle will not switch on unless switch is held down for a short period, 4/5 seconds and then it will switch off. Purchased a Russel Hobbs kettle today.

We had this kettle as a Christmas present about 5 years ago. Although the Blue light packed up a couple of years ago it has given excellent service and has been the longest lasting kettle we have had. Usually lasting only two to three years. Sadly it has just started leaking round the base so now stands on the draining board and will use it to it's bitter end. Will definately buy another if it's still made.
Have never had to use Service & Support so can't really comment.

Had this kettle for a few months before the catch on the lid broke so now we have to open lid with the end of a teaspoon, then shortly after water started leaking from the bottom so we cannot leave it on the stand as it leaks so much and now the kettle is absolutely covered in limescale on the outside it is the worst kettle ever, will not buy a Breville again we'll try another brand

Having the filter sounds like a good idea but in reality we soon gave up bying the filters becuase it worked out quite expensive having to keep replacing them, so it just became a standard kettle. However after just over a year it's leaking from the base which means it will have to be replaced. Looking at the other reviews the leaking seems to be a recurrent problem and not just confined to this model of Breville kettle. Sadly very disappointing kettle- I would advise you not to buy one.

Have just thrown out my 3rd Breville kettle. All have had same problem. They work ok to start with , then they begin to leak- not just a bit- it pours out of the bottom. Have just got home with my new replacement ( another make now) to find a big pool of water over worktop and floor. Will never buy another Breville

The connecting part on the breville jk121 kettle between the kettle body part and the base part becomes loosen and does not conduct electricity. Customer service simply said that it is out of warranty (after two years?) Not recommended.

This Breville JK121 kettle started leaking between the inner and outer layers. This allowed water to reach the electrics in the base of it, highly dangerous!

The Breville JK121 kettle was a gift and started to play up after 9 months - the lid kept partially opening. Now after 12 months the kettle wont turn off. We have contacted Breville about the problem and gave them the serial number, they said without a receipt they will not do anything as the date code shows it to be 18 months old. This seems to be a common problem with these kettles. Its very simple Breville, I won't be buying any more of your products.

The Breville JK121 Kettle wont turn off, keeps boiling till water is gone.
Blue lights stopped working.
Limescale back after 3 days

The stand on our Breville JK121 does not have rubber feet so it has a tendancy to move across our granite work surface, the unit does not sit properly on its base and wobbles and now the kettle keeps turning it self on and boiling and till no waters left then it gets very hot as it is switching itself on without any water in the kettle.

The Breville JK121 looks nice when we first bought it - in the matt chrome and lurmnashion look great.
warm button at the top of the handle is a great idea to keep the water heated.
lighting red and blue only work for a little while mine broke in 20 weeks
lecks when pouring a tea / coffee as the tip is plastic and heat of the water has broken the seal. lime scale came in 1 week of having this kettle , this is the 6th one i have got replaced. the thermal has gone on this, so the auto shut off to the kettle does not work so if you leave the kettle under tended , you will have a wet kettle from the steam.
kettle was great at the start but after a while starts breaking down , i would never get this kettle again.

Breville is a top brand as is Brita. At £50 I am amazed the product is so poor. I have had 3 since Xmas and the 3rd one is going back. All different faults. 1st just stopped working (not fuse as light remained on), 2nd started making 'fizzling' noises like electric shorting and 3rd wont switch off! Fortunately Argos as the retailer have been excellent.

I've had my JK121 replaced three times now and it keep developing a fault where the points do not contact the base properly and it wont work or when it does it sparks and hisses.

The lip opens with push of a button and makes filling kettle very easy and fun! (Only one hand needed.) Looks great too. The filter process alone is very quick, but even better - is the fact that it can boil whilst filtering - superb feature. Filters are approx £4 each - hence not cheap. But do boast better filtration than others... Best to buy in bulk. Overall very impressed. Be suprised if you dont love it too.. Love it - order one now!
