“Roadside Recovery ”

Written on: 28/11/2021 by 1981Bradley (1 review written)

Absolutely brilliant, got us and the car recovered to the garage in under an hour, on a busy Friday night too. Luckily the chap was just around the corner from where the car broke down, so we couldn’t have waited much more than 15 mins for him to get to us. The whole process, from initial call to drop-off, was faultless. Thank you guys!… Read Full Review

Absolutely appalling. Used to be good but I have been waiting for 20 hours and still no rescue. I have been given two hour windows which have not been respected. It's time for trading standards to get in touch. DO NOT USE… Read Full Review

“Visiting friend on I O W. I am disabled so my wife...”

Written on: 16/10/2021 by DerrickLeach (1 review written)

Visiting friend on I O W. I am disabled so my wife does all the driving. Whilst walking along my wife tripped over a speed bump on the pathway an broke a rib and a bone in her hand. Unable to drive we were unable to get ourselves home. Britania Rescue retrieved our car from a pay and display car park to our friend's house and the arranged transport for us by taxi to our home and had our car retrieved to our home address. I cannot say how wonderful their service was! 10 Star rating!!!… Read Full Review

“13.5 hour wait to attend”

Written on: 11/09/2021 by 1951MacPherson (1 review written)

Got a puncture in Devon at 18:00. Time to get call answered 15-20 minutes. Call centre struggled to find address (of hol (common in Devon) so come to address, do not rely on phone. No one arrived. 3.5 hours later text got through to say rescue drivers (local) had not been able to get through to me by phone (no signal) and refused to come out again that evening. Was told by text someone would arrive the next day between 8:00 - 12:00. Texted to say this was not the service I paid for. Then… Read Full Review

“Problems”

Written on: 09/08/2021

Problems Customer service weren't as helpful as I would have liked when I had a query. Had to wait 30 minutes on the phone just to renew the policy. Have an automated service for that, at least? When I broke down they sent out roadside assistance who told me I needed a new coil pack. Garage fitted a new coil pack based on their assessment but it didn't fix the problem - turned out to be something else entirely and money wasted. Roadside assistance should have used OBDII diagnostics like the AA… Read Full Review

“No Answers”

Written on: 05/08/2021

Been a member (?) since late 1990's via the CSMA. In recent years have called on their recovery services 3 times. Call No 1, (Citreon suspension pipe failure) had to wait circa an hour to be collected, transported via 3 recovery companies with waiting time between change overs. Call No 2, breakdown at Eastern end of A14. Transport arrived inside a hour, diagnosed issue from code reader (VW diesel injector failure) and transported us to first change over point (Newmarket Tesco's) and left. After… Read Full Review

“Promised 2 hours, didn’t even show up! Stuck for 8...”

Written on: 24/07/2021 by Bensmith1986 (1 review written)

Originally told 2 hours until someone will come, rung at 3 hours, on hold 30 mins, was told someone will call back, no one did, rung at 4.5 hours then told no one is coming an to try the AA an will reimburse us. Tried everywhere no luck, was stranded with no lights on a un lit motorway, was stressful and dangerous. Do not recommend this company. Only plus side was we got a couple of welfare calls which basically is are you ok… Read Full Review

“132 hours to relay my vehicle home...maybe”

Written on: 20/07/2021 by HighlandMac (1 review written)

Had a ruptured fuel pipe on my van on the motorway. Took 2.5hrs to get my van and me to the services 4 miles away. They said they couldn't relay me and the van so hired a car for me to get home and said the van might be back before i am. 24hrs after i got back I rang them as I'd had no word on when it was going to arrive. They told me it was in the recovery company's yard and would be another 2, possibly 3 days. 3 days later I still hadn't heard so rang again. Still in recovery company's yard… Read Full Review

Has your vehicle arrived?
Is it and or the contents complete?
Did you have to keep chasing BR for update?

It eventually arrived, 182 hours after first being recovered, having been driven around a yard until the entire fuel system was empty, when I'd requested it not be driven as from experience it takes hours of effort to get it back running right after being run completely empty.

Contents were complete although all the food was wrecked and smelly.
Only the potatoes were kind of okay as they'd been lightly baked in the back of the van.
I had to constantly chase BR. They never called me with any updates at all during the week and a bit they had my van.
They offered some compensation but it didn't even cover the food I'd lost.

Thank you for the update. Really does confirm my suspicions that not traveling with the vehicle is not a good idea.

Seven days to get your van back is just not good enough. You could have been enroute to a place where you were stopping for a few days and could have had the vehicle repaired once you were there. Or as in my case, vehicle sold and was collecting replacement 5 days after the breakdown.

Good to know that the van contents were complete.
I've asked BR direct and subsequently via the CSMA on what would happen to vehicles transported separately to the owners; your (and others) comments on here does not give me confidence that BR is particularly interested once they have seen the vehicle recovered and the people a means of getting to their destination.

“What is going on?”

Written on: 12/07/2021 by Gbrace003 (1 review written)

Wife's car broke down. Called, rold that the tow would be 90 minutes. 2 hours later - we chased them - we are told it would be another 2 hours. So we came home and they were going to call us 15 minutes bedore to ensure we could meet the guy there. We'll over 5 hours now and on hold for 30 mins each time, I have to wonder that when I renew insurance it will not be with an insurer who partners with Britannia Recovery. Very poor service indeed… Read Full Review

“Helpful in call centre & quick response”

Written on: 26/11/2020 by GrahamfromNewbury (1 review written)

Have my Britannia cover via my LV insurance policy. Had a puncture (no spare) last Sunday. Got through quickly to Britannia (not left on hold for ages) and dealt with a very helpful guy. “Lesson learnt - Inferior support when required”

Written on: 13/08/2020

I had a known common problem, the Schrader valve in my front LHS tyre valve had worked loose and required a minor tighten to prevent further loss of air or a replacement inner valve. On phoning Britannia rescue, the Operator appeared to have no concept of what a tyre valve was and just kept on talking about the fact that they couldn’t do anything with tyres. A Schrader valve is not a tyre or part thereof, it is an item belonging to a wheel rim! In the end I convinced him to contact an on-call… Read Full Review

“Customer for over 17 years - highly satisfied”

Written on: 17/04/2020 by ElizabethLivett (1 review written)

The initial response from the call centre has always been very quick, efficient and reassuring; they have always quickly pinpointed my location, given me an approximate duration and the name of the company that will be attending. Wait times are variable - dependent upon business. Recently they have tended to quote a time of about 90 minutes, but it has been invariably much sooner. The attending companies elected by LV Britannia have always been knowledgeable and very proficient and have… Read Full Review

“Belated thank you to the Britannia team!”

Written on: 14/04/2020 by RebekahDavidson388 (1 review written)

I returned to my 'VW' Polo on 6 March, parked in a narrow residential street,to find it was completely broken down - with absolutely no 'sign of life' (no power). I was miles away from home! Britannia Rescue, as always, answered promptly and I was given an estimated time for recovery. It would be quite a wait but a big shout to the man who arrived not too long after with a recovery vehicle and managed to get the car out from between two parked cars and take me to my preferred engineers… Read Full Review

“Left for 3 hours”

Written on: 06/03/2020 by Ash6Kent (1 review written)

My car suffered a flat tyre yesterday, I called Britannia at 10am, after 1 hour they phoned me to say that the recovery firm were very busy. After 2 hours they phoned me to say that Virgin online systems were down and they were having difficulty with contacting the recovery firm. After 2 and a half hours another operator phoned me to ask if they could cancel the first recovery firm and try someone else. Eventually almost 3 hours after I made the initial call the recovery vehicle arrived. I was… Read Full Review

“Still waiting for receipts to be refunded ”

Written on: 02/03/2020 by AndyDinosaur (1 review written)

Broke down abroad. The call out was prompt. Took my car away and within a day I was told it was irreparably damaged. I asked for a hire car, they told me to source one myself and forward all the receipts when my claim ends. It's been a full 3 weeks since I returned the hire care, everything at my expense. Still no sign of any reimbursement, and no communication from them, despite many emails and phobecalls. At this point, I wouldn't even recommend their services as a cruel joke… Read Full Review

“Absolutely Diabolical Breakdown Service!!!!”

Written on: 14/02/2020 by skJohnston206 (1 review written)

Broke Down and called the breakdown number, who then told me my 65 miles would take 2 recovery vehicles to get me home, as they couldn't find anyone to take me the whole distance ( no joke) 1h 30 minutes later I'm messaged by a recovery agent, saying they will be within the hour, then a message by Britannia saying 3 hours, then they cancelled the first recovery. They can't respond efficiently enough or have zero control over recovery vehicles ( contractors) they add to your stress levels with… Read Full Review

“Shocking service ”

Written on: 26/01/2020 by MrJackson (2 reviews written)

I my car totally lost all power and I stopped on the M3 motorway about noon. The weather was freezing cold. I was advised that it could take up to 30 minutes to rescue me. Eventually after 90 minutes I was rescued. I was frozen cold. I complained to LV and to Britania Rescue both said it wasn’t their fault I would never have expected such a terrible service from LV and will suggest that you don’t even consider them for a break down service… Read Full Review
