The Cyrus 5 is an excellent amp. very detailed and natural sounding, and has huge upgrade potential. the Musical Fidelity X-A1 sounds hard and lacks low level detail compared with the Cyrus.
The cyrus is compact, but has plenty of features, including a headphone socket round the back, electronic balance control, adjustable input sensitivity (the input for your turntable can be made more sensitive for example, so that there is not a big difference in volume between different sources).
It can be upgraded to Cyrus 7 for 260pounds, and has pre-out sockets for addition of a power amp.

I agree that it is quite detailed and spacious sounding when I heard it. Low level details were good. Bass has good grip and impact though not warm enough. Will be marvellous if vocals has more body.

i have paired the cyrus 2 and now the cyrus 5 to my AE Aesprit 300 and found them to be just beautiful. the sound is warm enough and the bass is punchy and not boomy. its very open and does not feel restricted. sound detail is amazing especially when the amp is properly isolated. i suggest placing the amp on a solid object like a thick piece of wood or marble/granite.
