“Poor billing process”

I switched suppliers so wanted final bill. Found out they haven't been taking readings for 9 months as promised and didn't let me know, put original readings back, so far sent 3 enormous bills which are still wrong. “Central Heating Maintenance Contract”

I have had a maintenance contract for my central heating with British Gas for 8 years. My heating went wrong last night so called for an engineer this morning at around 8.30 am. Was told an engineer would arrive between 12 and 4pm . At 4 I rang to ask about the call out and was told it would be betweem 12 and 6pm???? No point in arguing too much!. “I had higher expectations”

My scores reflect my experience of British gas. Booking the work and paying excellent experience. But I had issues with the engineer firstly he informed me he would not be inspecting part of the installation even though I had paid for a landlord cert and the appliance mentioned was connected to the gas. Got a quote today for a new boiler that needed to be relocated. What madness that the guy decided that blocking off half my kitchen window with a false wlall was the best course of action. How rediculous would that look if ever I wanted to sell the house. He was being totally unrealistic and I lost confidence in him almost immediately. “Why are my estimations always so high?”

“Horrendous 1 hour customer hotline waiting time & £5 owed”

I purchased dual fuel from British Gas. Honestly, with the competitive prices offered by other energy companies and the more active role government is playing in monitoring fuel prices, the main thing I look for now is customer service. Problem 1: When my prepayment meter also British Gas in a new property was changed to monthly meter there was an extra £5 left in the prepaid card which British Gas failed to reimburse despite making repeated promises. “Don't use British gas waste of time and money incompetent”

I took out the most expensive insurance offered on my rental properties and had to pay call out charges of £50. The most simple and cheapest don't have to pay any call out charges (where is the scene in that) Three times British gas tried to repair a simple boiler breakdown. “trying to get a new boiler”

We needed a new boiler so I phoned british gas ,they could not even come out for over four weeks which is disgusting service. I looked at there prices and again so very expensive. I wish I had gone elsewhere.I've been paying £50 a month for nearly 10 years.BG got me new boiler through GE MONEY.what a con.i and others got took for a right ride.£7.000 and still paying.my ad ice Do Not use BG.They ate only interest is money.dont care about customers.
AVOID BG AT ANY COST

“Fiddling with thermostats and clocks.”

I have a Homecare policy and have called out engineer about five times during the past two years. Every time the engineer has fixed the problem and left, I have to go and re-set the clocks and thermostats as they have been changed so that I am using more gas. It is not just one engineer, it has been five different ones. On 25th october 2012 I received a phone call from british gas, telling me that I was £118 in debt on my electricity account. As my wife sees to household bills I asked them to ring back later. On 27th October they rung back and requested that I pay this money in 2 installments of £59. “Complicated and a little strange”

I am moving into a new house where British Gas has been supplying the gas. According to the Estate Agent and Solicitors the address details have been incorrect. I was advised to call and just get this rectified on the National Database, so I did. “Homecare 200, Expensive and Rubbish ”

I have had a Homecare Agreement with Britsh Gas for many years. It has never been particularly good nor reliable, in that it often takes days for breakdowns to be repaired, and if you happen to need them during weekends and holidays you can usually expect to receive an even worse service. I am due to change ISP, so contacted British Gas online and successfully changed my details to show new Email address. Two days later I got an Email meter reading request, but the Email was addressed to my old ( soon to be obsolete) email address. Between December 2009 and December 2010 I was a British Gas Homecare customer.
Poor customer service by abrupt staff; staff do not show compassion when you have an emergency with your boiler. British Gas will also abuse the personal information that you provide to them and bombard you with sales calls.

Good points: Cheap Homecare policies
