Sadly, this has been a horrible experience. I have been tempted by the £10 reward and then the additional rewards for each Amazon purchase but they have never materialised. They're online account managing site is very badly designed and doesn't let you access any information prior to the last 6 months. You can't get paper statements either. The customer services is for most part automated and when you get through to somebody, unfortunately, and I hate saying this - they are very moody and unhelpful. I have just cancelled this account, really unpleasant experience.

So I took out a NewDay card, tempted by the £10 payment. Hadnt realised a) it becomes default card for all Amazon purchases and b) (they tell me) I hadnt organised a direct debit for it. So when I got email communications and later LOTS of phone calls (several a day), I'm afraid I ignored the former & hung up on latter, figuring card still unused in purse. My bad! Finally spoke to someone who said I owed £161 from Amazon goods. I didnt want to pay over phone till I'd checked this was genuine. Tried to pay online using debit card but it doesnt seem to have gone through. Rang them back - first time was told it might show up next day (how?? if I buy goods online, the seller gets payment confirmation instantly & mails goods right out!!) Rang back a bit later, tried to pay online but was told card wouldnt work "as I'd already tried to use it several times." They couldnt even do it on a totally separate card that I'd not used at all. When I said I wouldnt be paying the £12 late payment fee, he didnt argue about that at all. I've got to ring back tomorrow & try to pay then - I'm HOPING payment DIDNT go thru, as I paid full amount, hadnt realised there was late payment fee- if it hasnt they're only getting £149. Never encountered such ineptitude. Oh... and I'm forgetting the guy earlier who berated me for talking over him, while I meekly apologised & waited for the message ... and who promptly put phone down on me when he'd finished. DIRE company. DONT get a card!!!

I had high hopes of this card, with its 1% cashback on Amazon purchases and 0.5% elsewhere, but only after I signed up did I discover you can only paper statements, its the only card that NewDay administer that does not give this option. As I like reconciling on paper, and not managing PDFs, I don't think I'll be using this card much. I wish this had been made clear before I signed up

MBNA have just announced their severance from Amazon (20th August 2014). I've terminated my agreement with MBNA as its no longer worth it, particularly when they demand payment on days when they do not post payments to your account, such as weekends and bank holidays, even though they have your money - and then charge interest and fees for YOUR 'late payment!

Amazons credit card is the only credit card i use. I got a £15.00 voucher to spend on Amazons website & i can collect points every time i spend. Once i have 1000 points a £10.00 Amazon voucher is e-mailed to me automatically & i can put it towards my future purchases. I also like the strong security checks that Amazon sometimes carry out if they think any purchase on the card looks suspicious. Ive been called a few times over the years and asked to verify certain purchases etc & this shows me that Amazon are really on the ball with security issues. I also get double points on my card when i pay for any items bought on the Amazon website. Lets face it, credit card companies want our money & they are a business. I just think if you can be smart with your credit card then you can make money from them, rather than the other way round.

To contact customer services you have to get past the male robotic voice which asks you questions and ifhe doesn't understand your answer as part of his robotic programme then you will be given the run around. Seems to be the 'norm' these days, big companies don't want to talk to their customers, so they either use a 'buffer' robot or premium rate call charges to call them. Amazon Credit Card (Bank of America) have chosen the Robot 'buffer'.

I applied and received my amazon gift card and had so many problems I have just cancelled it. Firstly, when you set up a direct debit they tell you that you need to pay the first payment. Having done this they tried to take the direct debit anyway causing it to be returned and then charged me £12 saying it was my fault and I hadn't read the small print. Secondly, in the correspondance they will tell you it is interest free for the first 3 months. This is a complete lie. When I rang to complain I had been charge interest (an excessive rate as well which I wasn't bothered about as I was going to pay the balance after a month) they told me that it was only on purchases over £300 a go and only up until July. This is not what the promotional material said nor 3 months from getting the card. I have had an american express credit card for years and never had any problem, great customer service etc, not this. Do not get the amazon credit card by bank of america, ever!

THey will slap you with fees, If an item is returned, your 6 month interest free is voided and they will stick you! There customer service when calling is HORRIBLE!

brilliant card, earned 3 points per pound in the first 3 months and used it for all my xmas shopping. Since then, use it for all purchases and it still earns me money! As long as it's paid off every month, its no hassle! Have earned approx £80 so far! I can't find anything I dislike about it!

Like many of the reviews here I've been stung by the hidden charges and overseas charges too. Booked a hotel online here for holiday abroad and they charged conversion fees for the country I booked for. Thought Faster Payment was available and so paid off balance in full on the day only to discover later I'd been charged the £12 late fee , plus interest and then interest again on the following month as it takes a working day to process! Called up customer service and they were the most up themselves bunch of asses, very smarmy and self righteous and no help whatsoever. Asked to cancel the card and they didn't care about why or trying to get to the bottom of why you wanted to go and seemed quite willing to get rid of you. Avoid like the plague and go somewhere else. One penalty from them voids any gains or savings made. Not worth it.

I,ve had a few cards in my lifetime and this by far is the worst. No Communication - supposed to email statements - don't receive them get charged £12 straight away plus interest per day! This is a great card to ruin your credit rating. Phoned to cancel customer service rude - lost my £10 voucher for cancelling - total joke full of hidden charges. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!

I rang customer service to ask for a refund of the late default fee charged. They agreed and the woman was very helpful. However unlike other credit cards I have used, no direct debit arrangement is made with your bank when you sign up so you have to be proactive and get that done or make the payments yourself.

Stay away they put their own card first on amazon as default and if like me you think you are paying with the initial card you registered you then get wracked with late payment charges as no statement as it is emailed and comes through like junk mail poor show amazon won't be using you again or MBA for that matter

No communication whatsoever then sent a letter saying the account was in arrears. Handily the card made itself the "auto default" for my Amazon account so purchases I thought were going on my normal card were sneakily going on the Amazon "Bank of America" card. As others have said, immediate penalties of £12 straight on the account. Very disappointed with Amazon for making it the default card on my account... My view on Amazon is successfully tainted..

Avoid Amazon Mastercard at all costs; Terrible customer service by MBNA.
Stay away people are being penalised by MBNA , amazon have good customer service but they should part ways with MBNA, as MBNA is making money just by charging penalties to the customers. Unbeleivable they are not complying with the Lending code should be in the news!

I AGREE...ABHORRANT SERVICE

Great card, as long as you pay in full each month as soon as your statement is issued. Reward points are 1 for every £1 spent, or 2 for every £1 spent at Amazon. (£1000/£500 spend gets you a £10 Amazon voucher.) This works out at 2% cashback when buying from Amazon, or 1% cashback on everyday spending. If you use this card instead of your debit card (except for cash withdrawals of course...) for all your purchases, the vouchers soon add up.

This card is a nightmare. Hidden charges awful customer service. Not a pleasant experience avoid it!!!

I have suffered (like many other reviewers) in the hands of these turkeys!! They do not warn you about payment dates then slap an immediate penalty of £12 on your account each time you are late paying. If you were carrying an interest free offer then this just dissapears the first time you are late and interest gets slapped on at an extortionate rate. As for Amazon's part in all this - yes you need to be wary there as whenever you make a purchase the fefault card comes up as theirs and you have to consciously change it each time you place an order Beware, Stay Away !!!!

I had the same experience, I got £5 for interest every month even though I have paid my full balance at before my payment date. I was paid 6 days before my payment date but I got £12 for late fee, they hold my payment and charging me extra money.

DON'T GO THERE! I closed my account down after 1 month - disgusting customer services - rude and could not care less about a service that they are being paid for! Hidden charges & they are out to trip you up so you end up paying high interest rates even when you have cleared your balance! The worst credit card by far I have ever taken. Be WARNED!!

I have had the same treatment from them. Dreadful people awful service. Amazon should be ashamed to deal with them

Amazon offered a £20 discount on a Blueray I wanted to purchase if paid by their Bank of America card. Moreover, they offer points (rediculous low amount) on money spent. First bill arrived and a direct debit was set, however, second bill included charges plus interest! Unknowilngly small print reads that direct debit will be taken out on next bill. Third bill comes and more charges and interests added. Direct Debit does not go in. Amazon claim 'I cancelled it'! Of course not. Now i am receiving threat letters. This is a common story to several people. My £20 savings resulted in fines and interests of more then £75. Stay clear of these people because they make sure to milk you out as much as they can through late payment charges, not because it would be your fault but because their payment system is simply made to cause payment to default. After doing some research I have not hesitation to claim this is done on purpose since it has been going on for years and despite people complaining nothing has been done.

Very good card, £50 of vouchers have come through to me since signing up, every time i put a big purchase on the card i can get myself something extra from amazon.
Never paid them a penny in interest, if you can't afford to fully pay off your card don't use it - simple as that.
The one time my bank failed to send a direct debit for the full amount (Halifax's 'change team' decided I should only pay the minimum), the helpline was excellent and fully refunded the interest charged.

I don't normally write reviews but this has to be written to warn others AVOID THE TRAPS!!!
Incentive not worth the hassle and cost of a bad credit strike plus late fees
Avoid like the plague serious this card will give you stress and a bad credit rating!!!!
As they don't send you statements and will charge you $12 + $1 interest!!!!
Trust me save your self the headache and AVOID!!!!
