Acer TravelMate 2201 LCI

I have been using this laptop for 3 years now, I am very satisfied with the performance.

The battery life between recharge could be longer.

Well recommend Acer TravelMate 2201ci.

I bought this laptop in late July 2005, it was my first laptop for my own personal use - mostly listening to music, playing DVD's, word processing, electronic art and internet surfing.

All was good until November 2005 when the battery wouldn't charge when the unit was powered on and the disk drive stopped reading disks. My mother phoned Acer and it took until early January for them to do anything about it, they took it away for repair and three weeks later I received it back.

Unfortunately the battery still wouldn't charge when the unit was powered on and now the disk drive wouldn't open at all.

After more phone calls to Acer they sent me a new battery, thinking the problems were a simple battery problem - two weeks later the battery arrived but still the unit would not charge while powered on

After more phone calls - being put on hold for long periods of time and having to speak to lots of people I sent my laptop back to them for repair and six weeks later it arrived free of problems, although the battery life only lasts around 45 minutes instead of an expected 1.5 hours.

In December 2006 the disk drive yet again stopped working but since I have no longer got a guarantee on this laptop I need to go to my local computer repair shop to get this repaired.

Overall I have been disappointed with the hardware of this computer and it has put me off buying anymore Acer products.
