The perfect weapon for silent old timers like my dad and me. I have around cross bows since I was a kid and I gifted one of these to my dad and he seems to have fallen in love with it. The old man and me are both grateful for such an impressive bit of weaponry.

Bought SL 175 four years ago. Took 8 bucks, 2 each year, one doe. Also
several turkeys. Actually liked it so well I bought my son one for Xmas.
He has taken at least 4 good bucks and one doe. Best buy I ever made in
hunting equipment. Thanks to Horton. Two bucks scored 170 and 165!!!

I did a lot of shopping before choosing the Horton Legend SL. It had the best combination of weight -- 6.5 lbs., speed -- 300fps, and price -- $299. Since purchasing it in 2001 I've taken 3 deer and 3 elk with this bow. It shoots right through deer and almost through elk at 35 yards. I've rarely make it to the gun season. The string looks almost perfect after all the shooting I've done , always using plenty of wax on the string and Vaseline on the cables where they cross. I know this is an older model but wanted to say what a quality product Horton makes. I'm sure the newer Legend 175 is better, with more power, better looks, and lifetime warranty on the limbs.

Now Ive taken 8 elk with this crossbow, up to 2013. It did develop cracks in the limbs but I still hunted with it until the cracks looked dangerous. I found a rebuild kit on ebay for about $100. Now Ive got new #175 limbs instead of the original #165. Great hunting power. Got a bull 2015 season at 30 yards straight on into the chest. 460 grain arrow went through the sternum no problem and into the guts. Bull only went 76 yards. The Horton Legend SL lives on.

I disagree with this review because...HORTON DOES NOT HAVE A LIFETIME ON THE LIMBS...JUST THREE YEARS AND THEY WILL CRACK SOON AFTER THAT. AND YOUR SCREWED BUYING A WHOLE NEW CROSSBOW.

I agree with this review because... I own the same bow and find his review accurate.
