Waste Of Money And Frustration

After giving Thomas George 2 years of management fees whilst all they did was collect rent and pass it to us about a week later, we do not think it is worth the £98 pcm to pay them to continue causing us so many issues. We arranged most of our own maintenance as the agency contractor quotes were often double the price (probably after TG added their cut).

We have now decided to manage the property ourselves, like we successfully do with our 3 other properties that we have had for 20+ years.

We would also not use Thomas George to find a tenant (which costs £800+) again for several reasons, the main ones being that last time, instead of updating the inventory for the £90 we paid them, they printed off an inventory from a few years ago, and gave it to the tenant to check themselves in with. This resulted in the tenant becoming very frustrated and spending 3 hours changing the inventory (basically re writing it) and photographing and videoing the property to protect themselves as it had changed so much in last few years. As we live a 10 hour round trip away, we do not have regular access to the property and relied on the agent that we paid.

Another main reason for not using Thomas George is that they collected the incorrect amount of deposit bond (despite myself stressing in writing the minimum amount acceptable and them agreeing to it). Because last time they nearly collected the incorrect amount too. This time it would leave us with £179 for damages, cleaning etc, it the tenant moved out without paying the last month's rent. Not an adequate amount.

So with an inaccurate inventory and a lower deposit, they had left us in a potentially vulnerable position as a landlord when it comes to the tenants end of tenancy.

No apology was offered, just excuses and avoidance of questions. Why did their website state the correct deposit amount throughout, even though they then ignored the landlord's instructions and collected a smaller deposit? Was it to get the 'deal' and hope that the landlord would not notice?

I could write about the other frustrations over the last few years but there is not enough space.

This agency does the bare minimum (collects and passes rent), causes frustrations for tenants and landlords, resulting in lots of time wasted time and energy.

They seem ok in the beginning, but we suggest you check all paperwork carefully and do not rely on them to get the job done as you will be very disappointed.

Thank you for your comments, of which are shocking particularly when it a child is in danger. It's disappointing to hear that Thomas George are still causing issues. Sadly, many other tenants and landlords have probably been effected but do not have time or energy left to report it on these review forums.

I hope you fair better with your next agency.

I can completely agree with everything you are saying

I was a tenant and had to correct the inventory myself

There was lots of furniture and broken things to from

Previous tenants

They do not do the managing correctly and they blamed myself for damage I did not do as well as taking a partial bond off me for leaves (a call of nature not my fault)

I never cashed the bond cheque sent to me because then I would agree with there methods )

I suggest anyone reading this to go and use a reputable estate agent because they also never change the keys from

Tenant to tenant and this could make the owner of the property liable for anything)

Where I was living people were coming in doing more damage and causing a dangerous danger to me and a daughter by messing with a pump in a bathroom to try to electrocute us in a kitchen and this water damage would of completely destroyed the owners home

It was the neighbour coming in from

The back doing the damage with a fence down before we moved in making this to easy to do

This companie as a letting agent is far from safe for anyone living in any of the accommodations.

After I moved out the owner put the property up for sale as well and didn’t let it again and I saw this on right move.

Renters Beware!!!

BEWARE!! One of the worst letting agencies ever. Tried to charge us for additional cleaning when we moved out. The property had been cleaned to a very high standard (luckily we had photos of everything). Also tried to charge for wear and tear to the carpets which were well past their prime. Had to go the TDS in the end to get our full deposit back which we did as they ruled in our favour. Most (not all) of the staff are rude and unhelpful and act as though you owe them something, they seem to forget that as the customer the rent we pay goes towards paying their wages and keeping Thomas George in business. I would urge you to seriously consider using another letting agency if you want to rent a property as they will try and screw you over. Don't say I didn't warn you!!!

Took Out A 6 Month Tenancy, Left In Month 4...

We took a six month tenancy on what Thomas George described as a "luxury apartment" in a "highly desirable area". By "luxury" they obviously meant "dirty hovel where you will be plagued by neighbour noise and alarmed when bits of the apartment fall off when you least expect them to, and when you call us to report a problem we will fob you off repeatedly until you threaten to sue us." And by "highly desirable area" they clearly meant "where every dodgy person within a twenty mile radius congregates of an evening." We were new to Wales - we had no clue what areas were "desirable" and the Thomas George staff member who showed us around the apartment could not stop telling us how fabulous everything was. We were fooled.

The fees were very high and revealed at the very last minute (meaning we didn't have time to find somewhere else), the monthly rent was also very high for what we were getting. The staff are so horrid and ignorant - their customer service "department" is one woman who seems to really detest having to deal with customers. Not ideal.

We left during month 4 and paid to the end of the tenancy because we just couldn't hack it anymore. We are now in debt. Thanks, Thomas George!

I can agree with this review I to was left in debt and I lost a daughter in the process included with the stress of living in a property alone when I was new to cardiff to use this place as a springboard to aquire a business a shop and accomodation to in which o have secured just that and improved it even building on what I have as my own entrepreneur manageress .

To this date a bond has not been returned to myself from Thomas George lettings when in fact I should of had all the rent money returned as well for tolerating the disgusting hole I was living with a danger and health hazard even with not cleaning. The property prior to moving in and dangerous old furniture left there and a letterbox that fell off in my hand a gas meter cupboard without a key old over 10 year old white goods to.

The place was dangerous the neighbours next door had a key and were coming in from the back to create a corroded pipe for a burst in the upstairs bathroom and I believe Gary crooks is involved with what was happening including Glenn priestley to both on cocaine living in Leicester.

Gary crooks is also trying to scan a will left by my so called father by not including me in it due to a name change he knows where I live and that will payout should be stopped with my

Mum telling me before she died that she was in the floor in Gary crooks home in Earl shilton Leicester with a bruise on her arm and on her foot records of this are at the Leicester royal infirmary ward 9 in January 2013 of these injuries

When abuse is there and crime no payout will occur by any solicitor and neither will it be paid out to someone who ships cocaine such as Gary crooks of Earl shilton who knows drug shippers called John robson and dean bradley of Leicester

The bungalow was my mother’s and not my so called fathers the money in the bank was hers as well she was royalty and so am I and Gary is just a lumberjack bank clerk lower than myself

He had nothing to do with my mother apart from harm and abuse and under this there will be no payout to money grabbers and especially to anyone to feed a need such as cocaine

Do the drugs tests I’ve sent you for Xmas to the Martin household all you have to do is a wee on them and if your clean then a payout may be made

My mother did not work all her life to feed a need through her bungalow of 6 Anglesey road leicester Le184xa and any cop reading this who backs up the British army think again with my position as a bad cop even with pc cox being but one of a group of them who instigated early deaths such as cancer if that’s what you call it m.

I had a choice to make so that we both did not get electrocuted at thornhill which was to give her up through the courts to save her life

If this had carried on I’m sure what was instigated was for me to be arrested for criminal damage to a property and I’m sure pc Davis would take great pleasure in putting handcuffs on myself for what others create as police officers involved with criminal activity

No I won’t be quiet I’m scared of nobody and as a matter of fact my position in life is higher than any police officer even a chief inspector for that matter

To arrest me would be a crime against the crown because I am a member of the royal family and the late duke the queens husband is in fact a relative by blood line

Little did anyone know my title is princess Lisa of France England Wales and Ireland

A relative of Eleanor of Aquitaine a queen of England and France

My bond money that Thomas George lettings stole off me should be fully returned in full of £795 by cheque even in my new name and I hope this companie gets shut down for being dangerous to rent anything from them

The attitudes of the staff is nothing more than bullying and if you think I will be bullied by anyone then think again

I also want to say my car tyres were pumped up on the driveway to 40 by somebody else to try to cause us a car accident

We have endured enough by drug users and we want compensating

Epitome Of Incompetence!

I am a landlord and wished to use Thomas George to find tenants and look after my most important purchase whilst I was out of the country. They were good to begin with, and impressed with the interview we did of them compared to other letting agents in the area. However they are a terrible company - they do not communicate well with landlords or tenants and play to two off each other. This is a clever tactic - as they always win - you are the greedy landlord and they are the feckless tenant!

There is constant maintenance issues - I have discovered from another landlord that the maintenance company is a sister company of Thomas George - hence the fact they are so keen to do repairs. They do not tell you there is going to be maintenance and you do not know until your rent is short. I found that they did this with me frequently and they said they tried to contact me, when they thought I was still overseas when I was in fact back in the country. If they do contact you then the price for things such as painting is crazy. They also do not chase tenants for rent and they let one of my tenants pay in cash.

They basically do not try and get the best deal for you and rented my property out to another tenant for £100 less a month, as opposed to splitting the difference with the potential tenant or trying to negotiate with the potential tenant - they are simply lazy. I am not being a greedy landlord here - I simply loose money on my property and wish to loose as little as I can. The departments are not joined up either - one does not know what the other is doing.

They left my new property with holes in the walls...cigeratte burns in carpet etc, etc...You hire a letting agent as supposed to be easier for you than doing it yourself and help you look after your property- my advice is Thomas George do neither so don't bother- they are the epitome of incompetence!

Incompetent

I'm a landlord and Thomas George offered a managment contract for 7%, what was the cheapest. They found tenants very quickly and the service was with a view blips alright for the first 2 years. However, they overpaid a repair bill and I still try to retrieve the money. But whatever I mail or say I'm ignored. So I pay them for wrongly overpaiing a bill and not making any efford to correct it. Can't get out soon enough.

Short And To The Point. If You Are A Landlord And

Short and to the point. If you are a landlord and value your investment, do not go with this company. They do not look after your property, unprofessional, and total lack of communication. There is nothing about this company I could recommend.

Not A Great Experience Thus Far....

I've only been renting an apartment from Thomas George Lettings in Cardiff for a few weeks, but my initial impression is not good.

The sales rep told me at the viewing that the apartment was quiet, and that the neighbours above were a professional couple who I wouldn't get any noise nuisance from. This is so far from the truth it's unbelievable - constant, intrusive, unabating noise is more like it. The ceiling appears to be made of paper - no soundproofing whatsoever.

When I briefly (the viewing was rushed by the rep) viewed the apartment it seemed okay - I thought I could make it my own. In fact, the apartment is old, rickety, cold, covered in mould, with broken flooring and a decrepit excuse for a shower. It took me a week to clean the previous tenant's mess/dirt up when I first moved in.

When you email Thomas George Lettings with any problems they rarely respond. If you call and leave messages they don't return your calls.

Maybe things will improve as the tenancy goes on, but I'm not holding out much hope to be honest.

Verbally Abusive, Manipulative, Ended Up Suing Them

I rented a flat from them. They disguised mould and a fixed window unit. No cooperation to complete any repairs. The Environmental Health Department from the Cardiff Council got involved, issued them with a warning to carry out the repairs. The agents were dismissive towards them too, all they could parrot was "the contract" and "the rent". I paid them no rent what so ever, sued the landlord, sued the agents. They ended up getting fined from the council too! All good. Feel free to rent from them only if: 1)You are 100% certain there will be no problems with the property or 2) you are 100% certain you can deal with scum like them. If you are legally trained helps too, to shut them up when they talk nonsense!

Lost Time And Money..avoid Them!!!

I never had so much problems in my live! I moved in in november 2012 to house after 2 weeks i start having lots of problems with neighbors..they made lots of complains, send council on me, treatening that they will destroy my car and kill my dog!! Was using abusive words against me and my nationality..Thomas Gorge totally ignore that..instead they send me few letters about inspection at the property but never come. They didn't give me my landlord mobile when I ask about it.When I called the police and told them about syrious situation they give me letter that I can move out but I have to pay rent even if Im not there and they want me to pay them to search new tenants..Im still in this property and I don't wish no one to have this problem!!!
