We live in a Victorian Terraced House and have been having problems during the winter months with musty smells in one of the bedrooms, condensation streaming down the bedroom windows and even the toilet cistern every morning and mould growing not only around windows and up the exterior walls, but also in random places such as the slats under the pine beds, backs of furniture, shoes and leather jackets in the wardrobe, CD and DVD inserts, folded up items such as pushchairs and curtains, so all in all a big problem!! After taking advice from a Damp Expert he advised that a Dehumidifier would solve this issue and suggested we look for a model that features a 'Humdistat' and that collects a good amount of water! After owning this Delonghi model for just over a week we are amazed at the difference it has made already! Not only are our walls and windows dry every morning upstairs and down (It is located on our landing), the 4 litre tank fills within 24hours and the musty smells are improving already! After initially running the unit constantly for the first 48 hours to dry to house out (as recommended by the Damp Expert), we switch it on at around 5pm before we start cooking and showering etc and then off again the following morning after everyone has showered etc! If there has to be a whinge (but isn't there in everything in life!!) it has to be the noise levels especially on maximum, it rather contradicts the 'Quiet Operation' description it offers!! And being a well built piece of equipment it means that it is far too heavy to manuouvre around the house to escape from the noise!! It apparently costs around 2p an hour to run (ouch!!) so we are not looking forward to our next electric bill!! All in all the DeLonghi DEC180E is a very good product, the pros outweigh the cons and I understand from reading other reviews (hennce our decision to purchase this particular Dehumidifier!) that this is indeed one of the most reliable, cheaper to run and quieter models on the market!

I have had the DeLonghi DEC 180 E Dehumidifier just over three weeks now and already I can't believe the difference it has made. It extracts 18 litres of water a day and to be honest with you I did not think I would ever fill it but you would be surprised how much moisture is in your home after cooking, washing and so forth.
For best results close all windows and open all internal doors and because of the fan it is able to extract water from all over the house. Also if you leave it on all the time, not only will it warm your house up but it will turn itself of when it is finished. How about that for you carbon footprint!
Overall I find that it runs quietly but it does not mater where I put it in my house I always notice it, but it does the job so I cant complain.
