Toshiba Equium A100-338 Laptop. I Bought This Lapt
Toshiba Equium A100-338 laptop. I bought this laptop in March 2008 to learn how to use a computer. This was recommended to me by a friend who swore by their Japanese quality and good reputation. I have used this only yes only three times, and in that time a total of about 1 hours use. I Charged it up and alas to my horror no sign of life dead as a dodo. This laptop has costed me 600 pounds for my hour of pleasure and now what. No one cares or should I say gives a Toss. So much for after sales care and curiosity as to why this has happend or even any sympathy.
I wont be buying Toshiba products ever again until they or someone restores my confidence. So buyers beware. My opinion now is to go for Fujitsu Siemens my husband has for 9 years now and he's had no problems and swears by them. I wished I had listened to him.

Very Unreliable - After A Few Months, All That I R
Very unreliable - after a few months, all that I received were blue-screens, with the recovery disk being next to useless in my opinion.
I was unable to recover Windows using the original disk, so I had to install a shop copy of Windows. This is a bad choice if reliability is wanted in my opinion therefore I do not recommend Toshiba A100-338
I disagree with this review because... this is one-off problem and Reevoo.com scored 9/10.

Keyboard Feels Good Quality, Touchpad (new To Me!)
Keyboard feels good quality, touchpad (new to me!) took a bit of getting used to but soon became 2nd nature. Machine works swiftly and precisely with no crashes or lockups. Speakers are tinny, but you can connect better ones/ headphones. Graphics are fine so long as you don't want to play video games and screen is clear and bright. Perfectly OK for watching DVD movies too.
The Toshiba A100-338 is a great laptop for the price.

Please leave on the shelf and walk away. You will save yourself a lot of time and grief
We bought the A100-338 laptop, thinking that with the Toshiba name we couldn't go wrong. How wrong we were. From Day one the Toshiba was very slow operating. Then it happened ...the Dreaded Blue Screen with a message saying there is "A serious error, so your laptop will be shutdown to prevent further damage".
For several days we tried everything - rebooting, starting up in safe mode. Sometimes we did get into Windows, but then it would always freeze up again and shutdown. Took it back to PC World and they restored the machine, but a day later the sudden shutdown happened again.
PC world admitted the Laptop was a dead loss. So we got a refund for the Toshiba, and paid a little extra for a Compaq laptop which we are very happy with
A friend of mine said that whilst working at Network Rail the company had such a nightmare with Toshiba machines, they completely banned any further Toshiba PC purchases.
You have been warned
The OS running (or rather not running) was Vista.
PC World were most helpful and professional. They helped me to reformat / restore my laptop, but it failed again the very same day.
The Toshiba technical guy on the telephone told me that he also had a new Toshiba laptop running Vista, and had also got the Blue error screen. He assured me it would go away eventually. But he was wrong
My Compaq laptop, which PC world kindly replaced my Toshiba with, also runs Vista and runs like a dream
A few more details would be constructive.
What OS?
What did PC World say?
Your contacts who banned them on site - what model, what was their ICT departments policy for laptops?
What did MS say about the Blue Screeens?
