Fridge/Freezer broke down in May,have been waiting for parts since then,had to purchase a larder fridge in meantime to keep milk etc fresh,now August,part still not available,will now have to buy a new Fridge/Freezer ,this was not a cheap purchase and I expected it to last more than 6years,and it had the Hotpoint brand,but my next purchase will not be Hotpoint rest assured on that.

Do not buy this Fridge freezer, the electronic card has broken down, this is an inherint fault that hotpoint will not admit. They cannot get the part in, we have been without a fridge freezer for over 2 months now....customer service from hotpoint and comet has been disgraceful.

Had this freezer 3 years, had new control panel after 11 months .Just gone wrong again.We have it insured but they cant come out for 6 days.
I loved the design a shame the performance isnt as good. The instuction book is hard to follow, spent hours checking I had correctly done everything right before calling out engineers.

After one year, this fridge broke down on us, and has done so every 6 months there on. Thankfully we have insurance on the product. After many years of Hotpoint coming out to repair the same problem over and over again, which was over freezing or completely breaking down because it over froze, even on the lowest setting, we have now been offered a replacement of our choice. We will not be choosing Hotpoint again that is for sure!

I have contacted the point of sale regarding my Hotpoint FFA40X, ie Comet, who seem not interested, largely because it is outside the 12 month manufacturers guarantee period and we didn't purchase an extended warranty.
I suspect I will get the same response from Hotpoint/Indesit, but my feelings are that 20months service does not qualify something as of merchantable quality, which is an argument I feel I will put forward.

We have found the Hotpoint FFA40X frost free freezer unit to be unreliable - broke down twice in two years and was probably faulty on delivery, but this only became clear after the end of the one year manufacturer parts guarantee. Manufacturer repair (Indesit) service proved ineffective - repeated visits necessitate whole days taken out of work, as they cannot specify a time of arrival. On one occasion, engineer visit was pointless. Parts proved very difficult and slow to obtain, with the result that we have lost use of both freezer and fridge for over a month (already). Manufacturer in effect has us over a barrel, as they can say 'suitable part will make it work properly, and you simply have to wait for the part to come, but we can't tell you when that will be'.
